  1. Miller was a 15th overall first round pick out of the USND program. A lot of people wanted Boldy with our fist pick this year. Will Boldy ever be as good a pro as JT Miller? Will he ever bring the kind of tenacity Miller brings to the ice? We get the player now. Canucks have a decent amount of futures and with this trade we also get to live and win in the now.
  2. All this talk about weaponizing the cap, but you still have to take the player who eats up the cap space and likely takes up a roster spot. Instead, Benning is going after the guys he wants and is building a team that will skate hard and compete.
  3. Yeah, I see Miller as an acquisition to play on the wing with Horvat. Everybody has been saying for years Canucks need to get a winger for Horvat. Horvat's not getting any younger. Miller Horvat Pearson is the kind of line that will match up against the Avs top line and come out of it close to even. Canucks then send Pettersson and Boeser over the boards for the win.
  4. Broberg is definitely a Holland kind of pick. Seems like it could take a decade to turn the Oilers into a Holland kind of team. Not sure it's going to work, Oilers seem too much like a mixed bag right now.
  5. Canucks and Avs will be a fierce rivalry and that's why Canucks shouldn't trade Virtanen to the Avs. Gaudette and Virtanen as our third line depth is how the Canucks will beat the Avs in a seven game series. It may not happen till Podz joins the team tho.
  6. Stoked. Love this pick. The kind of player you win with.
  7. We felt sorry for or laughed at Ottawa all of last season for having moved their first pick. I don't want to be that team. Plus I like Jake and I like first round picks.
  8. I get that the Canucks have EP40 on an entry level contract so are looking to compete inside this window, but is it the right strategy? Are the Canucks close enough even with Petey being as good as he is? If they are, it'll be because of the roster players already here and improving or a rookie again steps up and is ready to play. For next season, Canucks have to see if that can happen and not take on bad contracts or make expensive trades. The timing isn't right for bold (dumb and expensive) moves.
  9. It's JV and the first pick next year for a player who is UFA at the end of next season. We don't need Barrie on our PP, we have Hughes for our PP.
  10. Based on what I watched in the playoffs, I think Colorado is already a top five team in the league and a cup contender for next year. They have two first round picks this year and Canucks want to give them what will likely be another lottery pick next year plus JV who has a solid chance to emerge as a great player this coming season. Colorado built it right while Canucks are willing to help them become a powerhouse team for the next decade. Why? You can't undue past mistakes with trades. Wait one more year to see JV emerge into a valuable asset. Hello Canucks Management, give the fans one more rebuild year please before you try again to retool on the fly and fail.
  11. Benning trades JV and next year's first and I'll join the #firebenning camp, let alone also throwing in Tanev. Canucks need one more year for their current roster players and prospects to be viewed as higher value assets by other teams. They should continue to develop existing players and try a couple more project type players like a Burokovsky. We need more and better assets before making trades like this.
  12. I think Tanev, when healthy, is a better defender than all the right d players listed here and costs nothing to acquire. Zaitsev is too risky, an experiment with a too much term and money. Risto will cost too much to acquire. Stralman makes some sense, but would you give him 3 years?
  13. Tanev has a lot to prove. Watch this be the year he misses under 20 games and is available at the TDL. I'd keep him and likely move him at the TDL.
  14. In my opinion Markstrom was the Canucks' MVP last season and a top 10 goalie in the league. A lot of teams don't have this goalie and I disagree that guys like Binnington are growing on trees in the AHL. Management should be looking to extend Markstrom this summer for 4 years x 6 without a nmc or ntc. Teams need two great goalies and Canucks have that. On all signings, Canucks should avoid nmc and ntc's and then just worry about the ED two - six months months before it happens by making suitable trades. NHL executives have learned from the Vegas expansion and it won't go down like that again. There will be way more trades this time around as teams position themselves for the ED. Canucks management should put the hammer down now. If Edler doesn't get a nmc after all that he has given to the organization, than no one else gets one either, only Petey, EP40 gets what he wants.
  15. I agree. Canucks management needs to wait it out and weaponize the cap space, not blow their load on expensive ufa's.
  16. The C in the #Canucks50 logo reminded me of the CN logo, maybe shouldn't have said that, can't not see it now.
  17. #Canucks50 Jersey. I like it. #weareallcanucks and tonight #wetheNorth
  18. I like the idea of adding a winger for the Horvat - Pearson combo and I like that Zucker plays with speed and seems to be a tenacious player and could be a good fit. That said, I don't like the assets suggested to give up to make this trade happen. This off season, I am very concerned about what Benning and management may be willing to give up in a trade and what they may pay for marginal free agents. I'd rather they bring back last years team then screw up the future with a dumb move.
  19. #Botchies botched as imperfect, like us, like our team, like predictions on cdc. Words said and understood about the Canucks, about Canuck fans, ownership, players, management. Opinionated sure, but most importantly, said and appreciated. We are all Canucks and we appreciate what you said, #ripBotch
