  1. Everything is different with Horvat gettting traded. Would you trade Garland for Kotkaniemi? I'd trade Boeser for Kotkaniemi.
  2. If we don't need cap space to resign Horvat, I definately support a Boeser for another underperforming player under a similar contract.
  3. Management has already made their fair share of mistakes, maybe even grave errors. The thing to do was prioritize Horvat and sign him ahead of the Boeser extension, let alone the Miller extension. It seems like the most obvious move, sign your most important player first. Maybe hire management familiar with the team next time, they took half of last season to "assess" the situation. Not impressed.
  4. Garland is small, but not slow. He's a good 5 v 5 player who can hold the puck and make plays. Right now he's a lot better player than Boeser. A lack of cap space has created negative value for quite a few players league wide.
  5. Flames could have really used a player with his kind of creativity last night.
  6. I find Garland to be a useful hardworking (most nights) player as he holds onto the puck well, is decent on takeaways and is a threat to score. He can be agitating and is quick. If Horvat get's traded, he will be played more often with MIller, but for now is needed to anchor the third line. Hoglander plays big, but our third line smurf line last night brought energy and was effective.
  7. I like Brock Boeser a lot as a person and, like all Canuck fans, have wanted the very best for him and for him to regain the form that made him a great rookie player for the Canucks. Last night he played an incredibly bad game. No surprise to me that he has such a poor plus minus. He's not getting to the places on the ice he needs to get to quickly enough to be effective offensively or defensively. The Canucks can't keep Boeser and loose Horvat if they are serious about improving the team. Management has to find a way to move Boeser and his contract out the door before next year's season opener. He's top of the list of bad value contracts that need to be moved out.
  8. Astute management is more important than fan opinion. Management gets paid very well to know how best to build a contending hockey team.
  9. Disagree. What's our 2023 1st round pick worth? How about 4 seasons of a Boeser buyout or two years retained salary on Boeser to move him? Our owner has deep pockets right, it's like a stop loss sale on a stock, you get back 67% of Boeser's money to spend elsewhere.
  10. If there are no trade deals to move overpriced underperforming players, buy outs should be used by the start of next season to keep the better players like Horvat. Ownership and management can commit to it now so they can proceed to sign Horvat. I believe a Boeser buyout frees up 67% of his salary. Having dead cap is better than losing the captain!
  11. Management can ensure that the money will be there for Horvat by arranging with ownership to accept a buy out of Boeser at the start of next season to free up 4.4 million (cap penalty on the Boeser buyout would be 2, 216,667 over 4 years). If ownership/management is willing to do a buy out on Boeser, it would obviously be preferable to find a trade for Boeser and they could be willing to offer salary retention (2 years remaining) in exchange for prospects/picks. Canucks need to find some more money also for this year as will need cap space to be able to offer Aidan McDonaugh a play now burn the first year entry level contract.
  12. I think it is still possible to buy out a contract with a NTC and NMC? Contract buy outs are likely in the Canucks immediate future, ownership can prove they are not a hindrance to building this hockey team if they are willing to buy out some of the underperforming players.
  13. Management should sign Bo Horvat right now and double down on the MIller signing because the Miller/Horvat combo works.
  14. Thanks, yes was unclear. Traded a 1st round pick to move Marleau's cap.
  15. I like Boeser as a person, we all do, but he's negative value + + right now. Garland is still a serviceable player, he is quick enough to retrieve pucks, he protects the puck well, carries the puck well, he can create scoring opportunities all by himself. In theory a team could build a third line around him. I think the Canucks could still get some kind of asset in return for Garland and his contract right now.
  16. Agreed, pro hockey managers get paid very well and how many of them forcasted what the value of cap space would be? Certainly no-one in Vancouver! GM Dubas traded Marleau out of Toronto for a 1st round pick way back in June, 2019... like spot a trend and get ahead.
  17. Garland > Boeser. Boeser, the bigger player, was atrocious last night.
