  1. Devils didn't even play that well. Canucks beat themselves. Again.
  2. Canucks figured out their game against Pittsburgh. If the Canucks play their game style and outwork the young NJD they win tonight.
  3. Management cleared some cap space sending out Dickinson, spent it at RD on Bear. Canucks volunteered to take on Pederson's 750k to make this trade happen. Canucks owner keeps on spending to the cap and then some so management can tweak the lineup. I like it. Pederson gets 2 pts in his first game in Abby. Another Sask player to join up with Abby captain Wouters. A change of scenery can really help a player out. Different system, fresh start. Looking forward to seeing Bear play RD for our team.
  4. Ethan Bear himself a 5th round draft pick. This one can play in the NHL. Agreed, it is a bit odd to be paying out a 5th round pick to be taking on money. This is where the Canucks are at right now, need to find ways to improve. It's too early to give up on the season. Besides, everyone screaming for a rebuild always wants to keep the best players. Our best players want to win now. Fans have to hope that current management is better than the previous management at scouting pro players. There's a good chance they are. I do find it really entertaining and am looking forward to seeing how the new players fit into the current roster. Pretty obvious there are holes in the lineup to fill.
  5. seems like no-one wants a complete rebuild, proposals often want to keep at least one of the current roster players. Competing teams will want players that can help them win right now. I think the Canucks have players like that. Players that want to win the next game. <start here> Win the next game.
  6. I agree, should have kept or resigned Motte and Highmore. Not sure why the 4th line had to be reinvented as was a solid line all of last year.
  7. A rebuild won't be easy, not enough teams with cap space.
  8. Seems unlikely they'll beat Carolina, still losing the first at home after 5 on the road to the Sabres, kind of understandable. money line pays 1.30 for the Canucks win, what's the Canucks all time record on Oct two four ?
  9. watching this game live. will put on a jersey as well, never put on a jersey, tonight, go canucks go
  10. i like the lineup tonight. looks solid. this team should get it done tonight. fly home with a sense of relief and for better things to come.
  11. Just watched the game, reading the comments here you'd think the Canucks got their ass handed to them when, in fact, they played a solid game, 60 minute effort, lots of speed and effort, especially given that it was a back to back. The record is poor, but things are getting sorted out on this team. Pretty tough to open up the season out east on the road and teams are playing them hard. How do they get handed a schedule like this? Goalie Martin should have had the third goal, lil Johnies goal. The Stillman Schenn combo is likely not good enough. Myers really solidified the d tonight. Great game by him. He’s a leader on this team. Poolman played well also. Cool he was back. OEL looked solid, just don't play him or Hughes on the right side. Canucks should make a hockey trade or two and find another alpha jerk to play alongside Miller. CBJ Jenner would probably do the trick. Make a money for money trade, take on a currently underperforming jerk, find Miller his duo. Any ideas who to go after? Who in the league has an ego like MIller? That's what Miller and this team need. Playing Micheyev and Kuzmenko with Miller wasn’t a great coaching move. Garland seems the obvious current player to play with MIller. Horvat was killer good tonight. His linemates came to play as well. I think the Canucks are close to being a winning team. Canuck luck has them always paying a hefty price for defensive breakdowns. This early season adversity will set them up to find a way to being a team that will win with regularity this year.
  12. Pretty cool how ramped up NHL teams are on opening night. Thought the LA vs. VGK game last night, like tonight's tilt, was a high energy game. Canucks players looked visibly upset about losing this one. They played hard. A lot about what will help them win games this season was on tonight, but special teams need to be special to win in this league.
  13. I don’t like Anthony Stewart as a commentator. It’s so obvious he doesn’t like Vancouver. I’d prefer if he wasn’t on broadcasts that feature the Canucks. His take on the Nurse hit on Burroughs was a bad take. Canucks scorred on the ensuing power-play and he still stood by his take at the end of the night.
  14. I don't like the Oilers. I don't like anything about them. I don't like how they play. I don't like their uniforms. I don't like the colour orange. I don't understand the structure of their game, which makes them frustrating as an opposing fan to watch. I guess they compete hard enough. I don't think they'll ever get to a cup final playing the way they do. They played lazy, dirty, bitchy hockey tonight and were rightfully penalized a lot for it except for that one time when it really mattered. Frustrating as the Canucks powerplay should have made them pay.
  15. Kind of working on me... thinking about buying some NXE stock if our team goes on a winning streak.
  16. The captain is shouldering management's uncertainty about the team. If they sign Bo long term management is all in on the current roster with very limited moves available to them to change up the team.
  17. Yes, I hope they take a look at Hughes Burroughs. With Myers injured a RHD will have to emerge, could work out well.
  18. Many basement suites are in flood zones, how do you make these legal? Answer, you don't because you need the housing. "Safe for use" would mean expensive red tape for property owners.
  19. Agreed. I wonder if Button and TSN remember the Oiler/Islander draft day trade in 2015. Edmonton gives up 16th and 33rd overall for Griffin Reinhart. The 16th pick ends up being Matt Barzal. Reinhart is playing in the EIHL in Belfast these days.
