  1. Yeah, imagine Canucks already have their Devon Toews like turnaround project in the system, plays right D. Fans should especially be cheering these guys on. Schenn, Burroughs, Juulson, Dermott, one of these guys is the player we need. *___ all we're looking for is a defensive RD!
  2. DeNiro, you are always on point ! If I'm GM of the Canucks, I'm following this forum.
  3. News to the rest of the NHL, Canucks fans are jacked about their team!
  4. Without Petey on a bridge contract and a reasonable Huggy contract Canucks wouldn't have got the Miller signing done. This team is so good right now!
  5. Yeah, I agree, 7 x 8 years is a decent contract for the team and a good value contract for the captain in the current market. Nugent-Hopkins team-friendly contract at $5.125 million x 8 signed in 2021 has to pull down Bo's value a bit. Ryan O'Reilly has been making 7.5 for 6 years already and will be ufa after the season, wonder what his next contract will look like at 32 years old.
  6. Protected ALR land in the Fraser Valley is an ideal I support. Future generations will continue to have access to some of the best growing soils and water in the world and the best climate in the country for growing food. The local population may not always be able to rely on California/Mexico for food supplies. Drought, higher energy and fuel costs may make this a food source that cannot or should not be relied on as much as it is now. Also, aesthetically, let's not pave paradise, but push for more infill density on existing single family homes and develop on hillside and support with transit. The real roadblock to increasing housing supply is expensive red tape and development costs at varrious city halls. Governments should set it (zone it) and get out of the way, applications could be simply approved as meeting the zoning requirements. Government at all levels should stop with all the politics and simplify to govern efficiently by concentrating on infrastructure expansion which could be looked as non-partisan, necessary and of benefit to all citizens.
  7. So many are saying that for the sake of a 1 RD Canucks have to start or continue a rebuild. The team is retooled and should be allowed to turn the corner, there's enough sure things and enough wild cards on the roster for the coming year. The forward group will have to underperform significantly to not be among the top 8 forward groups in the league, same with special teams and goaltending. A lot of players turn a corner, come out of nowhere. Toews, Nichushkin, Burakovsky in Colorado alone. Going into training camp we fans should be thinking about who's really going to step it up, who's going to surprise on the roster this year.
  8. I agree. Although Calgary's D is very deep, two of their right side D won't be happy with limited minutes or will have to play leftside, plus will be playing a lot of defence, their forward group isn't fast or creative or intimidating enough. Markstrom looked average at best in the playoffs.
  9. "The question is: in 2024-2025, when the Canucks want to contend for a cup, will they be better off with 33-year-old J.T. Miller on an $8 million contract, or will they be better off with the assets a Miller trade would return, plus $8 million in cap space"? I think it's rebuild now or trust the retool. By 2024/2025 the Canucks will be chasing Ottawa, LA, Anaheim, (maybe Detroit, Buffalo) rebuilt teams. Horvat, Miller and OEL are the veterans for our young core, Pettersson, Hughes, Demko. Canucks should go for it now and if it doesn't work do a tear it down rebuild in 2025/2026.
  10. I think Canucks have enough offence in Hughes, OEL and Rathbone, they need a top 4 shut down RD, a player who could develop into a Cernak or Parayko
  11. Speaking of "Locked on Kings", LA came close to taking out the Oilers in round one and I thought played a better all around team game. I don't like the way the Oilers play apart from their deadly powerplay. I don't think Campbell will be much of an upgrade in goal over Smith for them. None of the RD on the Oil would be the RD the Canucks are looking for right now.
  12. Also thought Edvinsson had a very poor game last night, big kid, but no big deal.
  13. Lekkerimaki created the best scoring opportunity for Sweden in the first period last night. His line-mate takes a penalty and then he doesn't get any icetime for the rest of the period. The Swedish team is not well coached, they needed goals and should have played our kid a lot more.
  14. Canucks have 3 top 50 centres, 2 top 40 d-men, 1 top 4 goalie. Meanwhile the strength of the team may be on the wings. Good to go.
  15. I'd like to see a lineup something like this. Team looks solid. Mikheyev Pettersson Boeser Podkolzin Horvat Kuzmenko Pearson Miller Garland Joshua Lazar Hoglander Dickenson, Lockwood OEL Hughes Rathbone Myers Dermot Schenn Burroughs
  16. If Miller is looking for Huberdough money on an extension, Canucks would not sign him and most teams won't be interested as will not have the cap space to add him. Miller playing centre for the Canucks all season should have them in a playoff spot meaning they shouldn't trade him at the deadline. I'm ok with him walking at the end of next season for no return. Canucks have to play hardball right now so they have a chance to sign him to a somewhat reasonable contract. They should extend Horvat and Miller this off-season before training camp. Players will be looking for more money next off-season as the cap goes up. Miller walking at the end of next season will open up cap space and having that cap space will be enough value.
  17. In 2014 there was really only one correct path forward and management didn't take it. It was time to tear it down and rebuild. The current roster is the result of a wild and reckless retool adventure which likely has resulted in a very good team in 2022 and moving forward.
  18. Bo Horvat is a Ryan O'Reilly like player in my opinion. Both are UFA in 2023.
  19. Canucks should sign Horvat to a new contract extension already.
