  1. Benning brought a kind of reckless excitement which was fun and came with both good moves and probably a couple too many mistakes. Still, here we are with what looks to be a great character team with upside. Current management has more of a Gillis feel with more support people. Reminds me of when Gillis took over for Nonis. I like the team and the careful approach to tweaking it for the better right now.
  2. The black and yellow jersey is gimmicky and doesn't rep Vancouver west coast hockey. Canucks should turn it into an East Van third jersey and add the East Van cross to it as the primary logo or on the shoulder with the skate to give it some meaning.
  3. The hate for Benning is silly. The entire current roster with the exception of 3 or 4 players was constructed while Benning was GM. The current roster is a top 12 team in the nhl right now.
  4. If there is going to be a Miller trade I like NYI as trade partners, i think top prospects Raty and Wilde would be players to try and acquire.
  5. I'd rather have Miller than Tkachuk. Miller is the more versatile, better overall player, a centre. The age difference doesn't move the meter for me. Just can't picture Tkachuk a Canuck, might be the whole chewing on the mouth guard thing, can't stand watching it.
  6. Hi Magicwords, some good points. The "that resulted in 25 common people, of no political party, elected to form..." was likely a compromise of the Pots and Pans Revolution demands. Some of that government must have been willing to listen and come to an agreement with Protestors.
  7. This seems quite overstated. How would you explain the Pots and Pans Revolution that happened in Iceland 2009 - 2011 that resulted in 25 common people, of no political party, elected to form an Icelandic Constitutional Assembly? I would think this particular "revolution" likely furthered democracy in Iceland. Canada's first past the post system is archaic. Blindly following career party voting politicians is not the answer. We need a system of proportional representation made up of public servants who will actually listen to the people and be engaged in problem solving.
  8. Agreed. Clearly we are not all Canucks. Some of this is hate speech and I'm not talking about the Flames. I don't mind mindless takes on the Canucks... can we just talk hockey!
  9. A lot of criticism of Quin Hughes last year and look what he is doing this year. EP40 will turn it around and get on a hot streak yet this year. One of his shots last night finds twine and everyone is singing a different tune. I look forward to watching the 92 - 40 - 8 line play. He's playing centre and often up against the other teams best lines on the road.
  10. Disagree, Highmore has good speed, average size, engages physically and is a tenacious checker. He seems like an obvious 4th line checker to me quite unlike the tweener, where would you play him, player he was traded for. Will be interesting to see how he does playing for The Bruce.
  11. Yeah, the people's psyche (emotion) is a thing and has value. The golden goal lifted the spirits of our region significantly and unified the nation in celebration in 2010. No doubt, the golden goal is one for the history books.
  12. A Province vs Province vs States that could put teams together based on birth places of pro players would be a cool idea.
  13. Best on best I guess, but is it the best hockey or just a warm up tournie. What's a team Europe? What's a team "young stars"? There's something about playing for country at the Olympics. The history is more meaningful. The medals have a real allure that brings out the best in the players. In 2010 it seemed the most important medal to win at the Olympics.
  14. not sure, haven't read the latest restrictions. how does this work, an iindividual choice and a mandate? are you saying it is my individual choice to follow or not to follow the "government mandate"?
  15. maybe, but how are we ever gonna win the stanley cup if we are afraid of everything. you don't want grandma to die do you, so don't invite her to your place for Christmas dude, new restrictions "wouldn't really affect your daily life at all".
  16. He's a player with speed, size and truculence. He's not a 3c. Looks pretty good playing on Horvat's line, the line seems faster with him on it.
  17. Yeah, I know, meant it as a joke really. Pearson and Chiarot are paid the same. Imagine signing a UFA that helps take you to the final then turns out to be worth a 1st. All JB had to do was log on to this forum to know that re-signing Pearson at that kind of money was going to be a mistake.
  18. I'd like to see a player like Ben Chiarot in the 3LD spot. Think MTL would take Pearson straight across to reunite him with Tofolli :-?
  19. Canucks playing aggressive and fast hockey under coach B and still managing to play with skill, it's like the skill can work even better at high speeds. Petey has been flying out there, looking really good, the points will start coming soon for EP40. I like his line with Garland and Podz. Dickenson on Horvat's wing looks promising. As for Rutherford. We'll see what he does. I like most of the players on our JB built team.
  20. everybody could use a little bruce boudreau press conference in their lives right now.
  21. late night checking the score, at least podkolzin with the goal. didn't watch the game, had a good night instead, but always want my team to win.
  22. Green obviously doesn't have a problem with Miller, plays him in all situations, non stop. MIller is earning these minutes.
