There was something about Bure had to be drafted in the first three rounds to be eligible... or be drafted the next year. And yes it was the number of pro games he had played. Canucks did good homework to figure that out. And the bigger picture was the iron curtain and not knowing if he could defect away to the nhl.I think Detroilt picked Fedorov in the fifth round that year. Without the communist govt they would have both gone top 5 in the draft.

Anyone heard any news on Ferland recently? Has he been skating?

A couple more empty net goals and Loui will be up for "comeback player of the year"

Till after the trade deadline or an injury happens.

Neil Peart..Rush drummer..dead at 67.
Westcoasting replied to Honky Cat's topic in Off-Topic General
I seen Rush twice in the early 80's, very very good performing live band. The only time i have ever seen like a third of the audience performing air drums along with the songs!! While his drumming was an amazing part of his life, lyrics to all the Rush songs was probably even larger than that. RIP Neil Peart -
[PGT] New York Rangers at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 04, 2020

Time to make another nonsense poll of yours that normally get locked! "Marky is stealing too many games" that could be your title! Carry on... -
You're right, I yelled at QH to shoot before he went behind the net, i was about to say it to Horvat but he passed to Myers and i yelled at him to pass it back.... Damn none of those players listened to me!! lol

I can't disagree with anything here. I think we are always hoping for more and sometimes ( like now) things are way better than they appear.

They are top 4 in power play percentage... is that not good enough for you??

No all star game... you're fired!

Yes it is, boy what a classic memory of Trevor!! Who was it do you remember?

[Proposal] Hoglander to LA
Westcoasting replied to Ossi Vaananen's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I would bet on him being part of the lineup more than retired. -
So similar to Dougie Hamilton? wow ambitious

A good punch in the mouth to Marchand might have made a difference at the time... or a crosscheck to the face, take the 5 minutes and go with it.

I really liked the pick at the time, i had him pegged as a player that M. Tkachuk turned into right away... ugh! But i really like the player he is right now and at a salary cap friendly deal. I thought a couple years ago he would eventually be traded away as like you i thought the pressure of hometown player might be too much for him. Watching his interviews now he seems very relaxed and in a happy state in his game. I'm not convinced he was too comfortable ever before this season.

I made a post after playing the Capitals a month ago basically saying wow! I jokingly said "did the coach read him the riot act" or something like that because it was the most complete game i have ever seen by him. Offence and Defence was solid by him. Too many games (and seasons) before he would have a great period and then the next he would be lost in his own end trying to figure out where he should be etc. i don't know what has happened that has made a change but i do not notice the glaring mistakes and out of position errors that used to be present in his game. I really hope he progresses more to where he can be a full time linemate of Bo's and be productive. Maybe management won't have to make a deal for a top line winger

Benning was never a scout with Boston, he was hired in 2006 as Head of Player Personel, the next year he was promoted to Asst. Gm. After Benning fired Gilman, he was hired to help with the process of Expansion draft he was not "interpreting" the cap for them. Judging from the gong show in Toronto i'm not sure Gilman is the legend that everyone made him out to be when he was here!

thank you! I'm amazed more people don't realize that the final product they see is the head coach's responsibility. Or the power play is the same thing according to most! But look at Toronto with the new head coach, power play is way different and producing.

yeah dream on... i am lucky enough to go to a golf tourney every summer hosted by a former two time selke winner and cup winner and a current nhl'r and both say Henrik was one of the hardest guys to play against, right up there with Datsyuk. Also say he is a super classy and funny guy as well. The other thing is that all guys who play hockey have a mutual respect for each other, it's a fraternity... play hard and hate on the ice, once the games over they are friends again. CHL, AHL or NHL. Your time in bantam hockey doesn't qualify.

What i notice the last 15 games or so is that he is fully engaged the whole game. It seemed previously he would have a great 10 minutes or so and then you wouldn't notice him, now we are seeing him start to finish.
