  1. You haven't got a clue... Have you ever been to a game? Fans have never cheered louder than for Bure and Lui, they both got treated like royalty here.
  2. If they held forwards and defenseman to the same standard they hold goalies too, they wouldn't be inducting four per year. Entering as a goalie is way too hard in comparison. I think the system itself is flawed in that each member only has one vote. So you have a choice of a forward with 500 goals and a cup, a forward with 500 goals two cups and two art Ross, and a defenseman with Norris's trophys and a pile of points.... Or they can vote for a great goalie with no awards... They always pick the most points and awards/ cups etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see only Brodeur and some amuck like Chris Osgood get in the next ten years... A travesty
  3. So you think the committee will pay attention to homer fans like me voting for the favorite or would they not pay more attention to the hockey writers on who they pick as number 1 every year? I don't know for sure but I would bet they pay attention to first team all star selections rather than the all star game. Lui did have some great tourneys overseas... Cujo had better playoff performances. Unfortunately that also is because he only has a total of 60 something playoff games to his credit. Not in the playoffs so he was always available in his Florida days. Good tourneys overseas don't replace Vezinas , Conn Smythes, and cups so both of them are in the same boat.
  4. Luongo only had two second team all star nominations, I didn't list the second team nominations for the previous five only first team nominations. Lui has never had a first team nomination. Unless you are thinking of the all star game which is something totally different and voted by the fans. Weird? Maybe your lack of knowledge about the game that's all. Did you watch hockey when Cujo was playing? The guy was a workhorse and made bad teams a whole lot better than they should have been . On top of that he had some legendary playoff performances where he did everything but win single handedly. And much like Lui the press painted him with a similar brush. Very similar career numbers and very similar career results is why these two are so comparable.
  5. Second all star team? Going to the hall because he was second best for two years.... Leadership award? Yeah that will do it. All star game? Somehow I don't think a fan voted team will sway the vote. Listen I am not arguing against him I am pointing out the flaws with the HOF system. Only goalies who have been the best goalie in the league for multiple years and/ or have a cup or more have been inducted over a long period of time. It is so wrong but that's the way it is. Rosie Vachon, Tom Barasso, Mike Vernon all come to mind as goalies who should be in there also. Now if they are not in there I don't see how they get overlooked to vote Luongo in. Right or wrong that is just the way it is. And let's not forget Cujo... That guy was very similar to Lui and also had no major awards or cups. But the first three have all the hardware and have just been forgotten. i just don't see them putting Lui in there with no awards.
  6. Dominic Hasek 6 Vezinas, 2 Pearsons, 2 Harts, 3 Jennings, 6 first team all star selections and 2 Stanley cups Ed Belfour 1 Calder, 2 Vezinas, 4 Jennings, 2 first team all star selections and 1 Stanley cup Patrick Roy 3 Vezinas, 5 Jennings, 3 Conn Smythes, 4 first team all star selections and 4 Stanley Cups Grant Fuhr 1 Jennings, 1 Vezina, 1first team all star selection, and 5 Stanley Cups Billy Smith 1 Vezina, 1 Jennings, 1 conn Smythe, 1 first team all star selection and 4 Stanley Cups Roberto Luongo 1 Jennings See a pattern here? These are the goalies inducted that played in the 80's or later. No Vezinas, or Cups or First team all star selections doesn't bode well.
  7. Don't be so lazy and look at the goalies in the hall.... It's fairly obvious that cups and Vezinas get you in there in the last twenty years anyways.
  8. I've never heard save percentage as a factor but hardware definitely is. No Vezinas and no Harts or Stanley cups = no HOF ... As much as Cujo and Luongo have had brilliant careers they hold goalies to a different standard to get in the hall.
  9. Do you think he is going to hall of fame on total wins alone? I don't see it.
  10. He must be among the leaders in all time losses now isn't he? That should help get him to the HOF!!
  11. So explain how the " media and fans" made this happen... Do you remember saying that earlier as the reason?
  12. newsflash... That is not being run out of town! He always said how much he loved the fans here, go dream up another theory!
  13. run out of town? lol, he was under contract for a long time but wanted to play in Florida. How is that getting run out of town? i hope sometime in the future that both Cujo and Lui get in to the HOF despite no veins or a cup... Both big time goalies on unfortunate teams at the time.
  14. There are seldom guaranteed franchise players in the draft. Just take a look back at the top five picks in the last 30 years and look at all the average players produced.
  15. Honestly I didn't follow him after he left Van but when he was here he showed great potential but his very soft play limited his performance. Turning away from any contact and dishing the puck when a player came at him made him no friends here. Courtnall and him had a big skirmish at practice in his last year and Geoff said to the extent that Nedved needed to grow up and want to win hockey games. It worked out well in the end for both parties though .
  16. In all fairness the first five picks of that draft were all consensus can't miss prospects. The Flyers were ecstatic that Ricci fell to them as he was long rumoured to be number one that year. Nedved was a dominant force in junior, seemed like the real deal at the time.
  17. Sounds like Petr Nedved when he was rookie of the year and then got drafted second overall.
  18. You can also keep writing what you want...I appreciate you love Ehlers and his game and I totally respect your opinion. All I'm saying is that I doubt that is the player that Linden and co. Will be targeting at the draft.
  19. I am pretty sure Linden will not be picking Ehlers. Now maybe Benning or the next GM will want to but I doubt it as I'm sure Linden will hire a GM with the same vision,
  20. I could definitely see Burke taking Ritchie with his pick ahead of us. The draft never unfolds as central scouting has the picks laid out, there are always surprises.
  21. I like what I have seen and heard about Ehlers but I'm not sure he is the kind of pick that Linden would jump to if he is still available. I do see both Ritchie and Virtanen as more of players that Linden will pick.
  22. Do you have an example of this happening before or is this just some idea of yours. I have never heard of it being done before and wonder how they could even possibly enforce what you are saying.
