[Rumour] Canucks interested in Jaroslav Halak

If we are going to pay that much should have just kept Holtby. -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Jaroslav Halak

We shouldn't be paying a backup what Halak is probably going to get. Demko is getting paid 5 mill to be the guy. Let him be the guy. We should sign a backup for no more than 1 mill and use the rest of the cap space on defense. -
[Rumour/Speculation] Luke Schenn returning to Vancouver

Meh, so did Boston and St. Louis. If you aren't cheating you aren't trying. -

Close enough for a tampering charge? -

He wasn't in their top 6. -

Rather 1 year, 750k but it is what it is. He's not a top 6 defender so there better be more moves coming. -
Elias Pettersson | Quinn Hughes - Contract Discussion Thread
FlyLow_ replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
Makar and Heiskanen play against other teams top lines and don't need a Tanev to carry them defensively...and they kill penalties. Nobody is saying Quinn won't be good, but he absolutely should NOT get Makar/Heiskanen money be cause he isn't comparable to them at this point. -
Elias Pettersson | Quinn Hughes - Contract Discussion Thread
FlyLow_ replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
Agree 100%. Love Quinn's potential but he's a career -34 and a defensive liability to this point. If he thinks he should get anywhere near Heiskanen/Makar money, both of whom also kill penalties, trade him to New Jersey. -
[Signing] Panthers re-sign Sam Bennett

Hmmm, maybe they need to trade us Marchment, Verhaeghe or Weegar to get some cap space. -
[Signing] Golden Knights re-sign Alec Martinez

Things are happening -
Whoever it is, they have to be very good at faceoffs and penalty killing, by my count we only have 2 forwards that are any good at the PK. Dickinson and Motte are good, Miller is okay but we need him to not be on the PK all the time. Pearson and Bo aren't very good on the PK. Petey needs to start PK'ing if he wants to get paid like a top guy. Basically we need a Sutter that is cheap, can actually make a pass and isn't injured all the time.

At least someone gets it, this kid is very very raw. If I'm honest I don't see what the Canucks see, but they have earned the benefit of the doubt on this one for now. Either way, we won't see this kid for at least 2-3 years. He should play in the KHL, it will be easier for him to learn what to do when he doesn't have the puck if he has coaches that speak his language. He doesn't do anything quick enough to play in the AHL.
-
I don't think he's a good enough PK'er, whoever we sign has to be a PK1 face-off guy. We need a beagle or sutter type, without the injuries and overpayment.
-
I'd agree with this, he has very limited ability to distribute the puck which is pretty much a requirement for a first line centre. I'd say with the right playmaker on his wing his line could be a very good 1B line, but right now he's very much a #2 centre.

[Buyout] Canucks terminate Virtanen’s contract

Don't mind taking a flyer like this at all at this point in the draft.
-
Nooooo, Jack Bar is who I wanted.
-
Big fan of this guy. Creativity, equally good at playmaking and scoring, dog on a bone type of player. Might finally have the puck distributor Bo's line has desperately needed.
-
Hughes cannot be the shooter on the point, it's his biggest weakness. Have to try something different. Maybe it's OEL, Rathbone has a bomb. There's a few options.
-
Think I'd still have preferred Stromgren but we'll see how it shakes out. Intriguing pick, definitely swinging for the fences.

Calm down

Their ownership is terrible, but they are excellent at drafting.
