  1. It's really his reads and decision making in his own end. This was a constant problem when he was with the Sabres and playing higher up in the line-up than he did with the Jets. If you saw when the Jets had injuries on their defense and he had to play top minutes it was a real problem. There's no doubt he brings size, a bit of offense and some grit that we sorely need, but he's not going to move the needle towards a defense that doesn't give up too many shots and high quality chances. I think at what he made on his last contract you can live with him, but at what he's going to get paid in this d-man starved ufa market, it's a hard pass for me. Much rather target Stralman or a trade for Colin Miller (never have enough Miller's) and one of Gunnarsson or Chiarot for depth. I do think Benning is going all in on Myers though, unfortunately. At least he's only the 3rd worst option I can think of.
  2. Bingo, the right deal means if someone gives them anything for him.
  3. Gross, absolutely useless in his own end. His contract is going to be horrifying, hope somebody else signs him.
  4. Yeah, thought he looked better than Teves when he got his shot though.
  5. I feel like first call up depending on what's happening with Juolevi is where he's at. Hard to say from such a short sample size, but he looked good.
  6. I'm not sure about him playing with Petey and Brock after watching Miller play for years now, I think he would have better chemistry with Bo and Pearson on a line that is just absolute hell to play against. We'll see what happens when we sign Panarin Panarin-Petey-Brock Pearson-Bo-Miller I just went from 6 to midnight.
  7. You'll always be McDonut to me! Also, can you guys maybe just make 1 thread.
  8. Not a fan of taking players that have been through the draft already. Obviously hoping for the best though.
  9. You said he's a player available every free agency. I'm saying show me. Use past examples. I won't wait..
  10. If you're going to take a stab at something late, my preference is a big goalie. Pretty happy with this draft.
  11. Can you please point me to the forwards available in free agency that have scored over 20 goals in every year but 1, can play all 3 positions well and are big bodies with skill on a reasonable contract? I won't hold my breath.. You can not like the first round pick but you don't get to pretend JT Miller is bad just because you are clueless about him.
  12. Perhaps some need to pull their head out of the fishbowl and look around what our division rivals think of our trade. Spoiler, they're not happy.
  13. Literally the only thing I've not liked about the draft. Get clown boned.
  14. Mike Babcock's voice makes me want to throat punch.
  15. Never seen this kid but there's some things to like for sure. Agile for a big guy, raw but there's potential for sure.
  16. The exact guy I was hoping for, loving this pick!
  17. My 2nd team is Tampa, I actually watch JT and he will be a great fit here. Big body, 20 goals every year if he actually gets minutes. Great in front of the net, in the corners and can skate. Exactly what we need. The price is slightly steep only given the perceived cap crunch. Any other scenario we'd be giving up a prospect too. For the people that think it's going to be a lottery pick we give up, we didn't even get a lottery pick when we had no Pettey, Boeser, Hughes, demko in the line-up. We now only need 1 top 6 forward, think about that. Put down the glue. Our team in the next 2 years is not going to be worse than the wasteland it was a few years ago, we didn't get a lottery pick then and we won't get one now. Calm down donkeys.
  18. Egor Afanansyev and this place goes nuclear.
  19. Damn, all my 2nd round picks got taken in the first.
  20. Never thought he'd drop to us, never thought we'd take him if he did. This is a swing for the fences, JB's got some big fat danglers on this one. Honestly a much more interesting pick than anything I thought we would get. Does everything Krebs does with size, does everything Boldy does but is also a nasty piece of business. The russian factor is the only reason we even got this kid, hopefully this can be a new beginning for the Canucks and Russian players.
  21. Love the kids play style, obviously don't love the Russian factor but just glad we drafted size with skill. Biggest need, bar none. Can't trade for it. The Canucks table looked deflated and possibly mad, I'm assuming they were trying to accomplish much more and failed but I'm still good with the pick. Hoping we can pick up ville heinola with our 2nd.
