  1. You are mistaken, 2014 was a very good draft year. Well, unless dozens and dozens of players projected to be very good are busts and very reputable scouts are wrong, which is unlikely. The draft you just posted is the definition of a weak draft so I don't get what you are trying to say. There were top 6 players available in this draft, elite skill. You know, our biggest need since drafting the Sedins. There was also Haydn Fleury, Honka, and Sanheim who would immediately be by far our best defensive prospects. These are huge needs, meat and potatoes on wing was not. Don't get me wrong, I like Jake and maybe he will be a top line player. Even if he's not it will be fun to watch him thunderdome people, but from an asset management perspective it's not very smart to take a maybe at #6 in a very deep draft. I'm also not convinced that Virtanen will be better than Alex Tuch, who is the real deal and was available at #18.
  2. That's cool and all, but you don't have to use a number 6 pick in a very good draft to get a shane doan. That's the point a lot of people are trying to make, but morons just don't get it. We still at this point do not have a single first line prospect. That's a fact ladies & gentleman, so meat and potatoes can pretty much kiss my arse.
  3. I'm not really as hyped about his play as some people, but can you imagine what he'll do to kids if he spends another year in junior? Dear god.
  4. No, he played a bit on the left but this season almost full time and a pretty down year for him.
  5. Virtanen isn't very good on the left side, I don't think Cassels is close but a good summer working on his stride and adding muscle could change that. To be honest that's a really weak line-up, but that means a high pick so I'm in!
  6. Well in fairness it was a huge dive on pulkinnen, who probably is hating life right now.
  7. I don't support the retool on the fly thing, because it rarely ever works. Look at the teams who have won the cup over the last decade, how many have retooled on the fly and how many were properly rebuilt? There's no comparison. Retooling on the fly is about money, it's not about winning cups and that's concerning to me. I will continue to support the the team and watch games, but for me there are stipulations now. There have been some dark times in Canucks history and bad teams that put zero effort into anything, 2013/2014 reminded me of those times. It was the first season in about 15 years I didn't watch the entire season, I didn't even make it through half of 2013/2014. All I saw were a bunch of players play the most boring and uninspired hockey imaginable. I don't care if the team sucks and is rebuilding, retooling, whatever....but they damn well better try and have some youth and skill on ice. I will never waste my time watching garbage like the 2013/14 Canucks again.
  8. I don't know if you've noticed but you don't win a cup without a few star players with bad attitudes these days. Virtanen hasn't done anything Kane, Toews, Duncan Keith, Doughty, Carter, Getlaf, Perry haven't done. These guys all thought they were better than everyone else, a few of them still do. They might be right.
  9. He shoots a lot more than both of those guys. His skating, shot, and playmaking are nearly identicle to Pat Kane, that's why there was so much hype. Obviously he probably doesn't have the ceiling that Kane has, but if he can put it all together he will be an amazing player.
  10. That would be good, I'd like to see Corrado back on his proper side.
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp-lDC9xksY No idea how to embed video on here. Don't like much rap but this is art.
  12. Agree about the forwards, but I didn't mind the D and see no reason to play Hutton.
  13. I loathe the line Green has him on. He should be playing with O'reilly and Defazio. After watching Utica centers tonight I'm starting to think putting McCann in isn't as crazy as I thought. Outside of O'reilly there's no offensive talent down the middle.
  14. Most of those players are wayyyy better than Dorsett. What did Dorsett do about Ferland? That's his only legitimate role on the team and he did nothing. So we're paying him more than most of those guys above for what exactly? Like I said he's a disaster with the puck and we have better penalty killers.
  15. Great to hear he may be warming to the idea. I think it's fair to give the guys that got them there first crack, but if they struggle I hope he isn't aftraid to make changes. They certainly have nothing like Virtanen on the team, but he needs to prove he can handle the moment and won't fly over the edge.
  16. Acquire them. IMO we arlready have better options, we have 3 lines of grinders we don't need more. Scoring is and always was the main problem in the playoffs. There is no need for a fighter anymore in the NHL, team toughness isn't really an issue now, we have better penalty killers. Don't even get me started on his contract. We have Hansen, we don't need Dorsett. Easy cap dump for a team that needs to dump cap and add more skill. Jackman doesn't play when games get close, I don't think he had a shift after the 2nd period last night. Tampa I consider a contender and Morrow is an obvious weak link. The rest of those players aren't on contenders. Look at all the legit contender over the last few years, you will see they either didn't have this type of player or have since gotten rid of them.
  17. I don't like Dorsett, yeah he tries but he's awful. It is possible to have good players that can actually play hockey mentor the kids, pretty sure Hansen mentored Horvat all year. Not Dorsett who he rarely played with, and when they did they were awful. I'd rather have a guy that can make a play with the puck teach the kids how to play. Dorsett should be the extra forward, that's the role those type of players play now in the NHL on contenders.
  18. bull$&!#, he wouldn't have been in the line-up.
  19. Exactly, plus not sure I want the guy that will take a penalty no matter if his team is on a breakaway mentoring Virtanen. The kid alreeady has problems with that.
  20. He has been used at LW and C by the Hitmen as well as RW, but he's far better on the right side. If he has a good camp like to see him get 9 games with Horvat and Kenins. Hansen may be needed to play on another line with expected player movement.
  21. Hopefully he can build off that game. Overall, really happy with his progress this season even if I don't understand the move to wing. He does everything you want a center to do.
  22. Even just practicing with them will help him a lot. McCann needs it even more, not sure why he hasn't been assigned yet.
  23. Probably the lone bright spot of this series. At the beginning of the season I said he wasn't ready for the NHL, he wasn't. He then put on 25 lbs of muscle during the season which is not an easy thing to do, the results since then have been outstanding. Hats off to the kid.
  24. The kid can score, which is obviously still a problem for this team in the playoffs. Call the kid up.
  25. He and Vey should rotate into the line-up, they are both strong and weak in the same areas. Go with whoever is playing better. All I know is that 3rd line kills our momentum almost every single game. Can't have that in the playoffs.
