  1. At least this should take some pressure of Bo.
  2. I would be completely fine with moving down for a good asset and picking Haydn Fleury or Alex Tuch.
  3. As stupid as most of this thread is, it's got what 50 pages on the other threads of players we might draft? It's pretty clear this kid generates interest be it good or bad, from a business perspective he's the clear choice. Not saying it's who i'd pick, but for a franchise that has seen fans lose some interest i'm sure it's a factor.
  4. The scouts give their opinion on the players. The senior scouts and head scout will take that info to the GM/Pres and make their recommendations. GM/Pres will make the picks based on the type of player they want. The entire system is based on the guy at the bottom of the scouting pole knowing what he is talking about.
  5. What are these big changes? Delorme has been here since 1990, Chibisov 1994, Snepst 2006, Gradin 1994, Frank Kollar 2008, Brian Chapman 2008. So they did the age old canucks scouting makeover and shuffled scouting positions by putting Eric Crawford in charge, big deal. Was anyone in charge held accountable and fired? No, Delorme, Chibisov, Gradin, and Snepsts are still here and in very important positions. This is a problem, with the exception of Gradin who has done some good work in Sweden.
  6. 2012 draft was awful, 2013 and 2011 were okay but are flukes not the norm. We have the same scouts that blew the 2010, 2009, 2008, etc.. etc.. etc.. drafts. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr00008756.html I don't really need to defend my statement, 10 years of picks that missed the broad side of a barn does it for me.
  7. Of course the right choice needs to be made, but it's just as important to act swiftly before the music stops and you don't have a chair. Especially when you have an incompetent scouting staff and a draft rapidly approaching.
  8. It's seeming like this isn't going to happen until after the draft, which really sucks. I don't want our scouts and gilman deciding who gets picked at the draft. Someone not afraid to take a chance needs to be calling the shots.
  9. At least it sounds like the interview process is moving along, hopefully we don't have to wait until the playoffs are over. The more time they have to concentrate on the draft the better.
  10. Not really, considering that "article" is filled with rumors from the past several weeks but nothing current. The tweets are interesting information, but hardly enough to say it's a done deal.
  11. Really stupid. The guy has done everything for us until this year. I'm pretty sure guys that score 25 goals 5 years in a row, are the heart and soul of the team, and play in every situation are worth $4.5 mill at some point. If true it's extremely short sighted, there's half a dozen guys that should get bought out before burrows. The thing that makes this feel like BS is Burrows wouldn't exactly be difficult to trade.
  12. I thought Lucic was a douche when he was all "do you know who I am?" whilst trying to fight some fat civilian. This doesn't bother me as much, kind of a dumb thread. Seems like people just want to bitch or relive their house league hockey days.
  13. sorry to say, but this draft is weak. To address what you want to address we'd have to move up for Bennett or Draisaitl. This is the reason I say if nobody falls and we can't move up, trade down. None of these guys being mentioned at 6th are worth a top 10 pick. Drop back, get a good young player we need to do so, and take Alex Tuch, Haydn Fleury or whoever drops from the top 10.
  14. I think people are talking about the stupid penalties he takes, and he does take a lot of them. A faster and less skilled version of Corey Perry is a fair comparison.
  15. I really wish I didn't see the 2nd coming in Gilbert Brule in this kid.
  16. That's a stretch, there was still a lack of depth when the team was completely healthy. The team needs Jensen plus another prospect to make the team and contribute, then also acquire a powerplay quarterback and 2nd line winger or center and it can make the playoffs possibly. Lack hasn't shown he's ready to be the guy just yet, so there's that as well..
  17. I like how Linden lets things slip, his comment about getting back to a style of hockey "people want to play" revealed what the players really said to him.
  18. I like Torts, he did some good things but I really loathe the system he runs and he either can't or won't adapt. I want a coach that wants our team to have the puck and make plays instead of always chipping the puck off the boards.
  19. I dunno, his first 3 strides and lateral agility are pretty piss poor. I don't think he'll be much of anything until he addresses that, especially offensively. He's not going to have the IQ and size advantage he has in junior
  20. I like torts, but I want to see exciting hockey and i'm not sure he's capable of coaching that style. It's also obvious that while there are severe issues with the current Canucks roster, Torts style does not work with this group. IMO it's not just Torts fault for this season, nor is it just the players. Both need to be changed for this team to improve.
  21. I think we've drafted too many of these big lumbering guys that don't skate very well, speed and skill has to be the theme in this draft.
  22. This is almost exactly what I want. In the grand scheme of things it's unlikely there's going to be much difference in skill level from the 6th pick to 12th. Far more prudent IMO to take advantage of a team that covets a certain player and acquire another decent asset. I would also add Tuch to the list for mid round picks.
