  1. Dal Colle sure does play exactly like Jensen. He's the wild card IMO, could slide or go high. I'm starting to dig Draisatl but still want to trade the pick and take someone like Virtanen or one of the euros around 12.
  2. I like a lot of what Torts has done with the intensity and forecheck, but if he can't adapt to a style that favors passing over putting the puck off the glass he's gone. Plain and simple... He is absolutely right though about the lack of depth, and the core needing changing. There is also a laughable lack of skill that he's got too much class to comment about.
  3. He is right, even though It doesn't really matter what Torts or the players say. To be an elite team you need to draft and develop prospects into NHL players that can contribute, and you need to do this regularly. The horrifying drafting over the last 6 years is 100% why we are in this position. The first thing that Trev needs to do is fire every single person involved in scouting.
  4. Lets not get crazy here, there's a couple prospects...nothing guaranteed.
  5. With the way the twins turn their back to the open ice to protect the puck, this is something i've been worried about for a long time. I hope it's not as bad as it looked. There was no hand in the air until they figured out he was hurt.. typical.
  6. I'm partial to MDC who is my pick to fall, but still rather trade down and grab an asset and Virtanen or another one of the decent wingers that are so abundant in the top 20. I'm not saying the top 10 is bad, just saying none of these guys being talked about outside the top 3 go in the top 10 any other year.
  7. After the top 3 it's a bunch of the same skill level until the mid teens. Find me two respectable scouts that agree on who should be 4-15. Trade 6th for 12th(ish) and an asset we need, pick the same player at 12.
  8. Unless one of the top 3 fall to 6th, trade the pick.
  9. I'm a little concerned about lack of experience, but an extremely experienced GM could remedy that. Linden is widely respected throughout the NHL community though, which given how badly Gillis hurt the Canucks reputation is a very good thing.
  10. It would be one of the key moments in franchise history to get a guy like Bob Nicholson. His resume only reads every canadian team for the last 25 years, CEO of an organization that has won everything and been dominant (for the most part) over that period. I'm pretty sure he's qualified, I may have never heard of anyone that is more proven or qualified. He's growsely overqualified for any position in the NHL. In that regard, I don't really believe the rumors that he's interested in Vancouver. I do, however, think he's more suited for President than GM. it's time to finally get some people that win running this team, and Nicholson would bring a proven winning culture we've never had. I have no doubt Linden can be invaluable to the team in a lesser role, but he's not qualified for Pres or GM. I also have a hard time with the Linden rumor, he's never been too keen on the idea of being a GM when asked over the years. Just please god no Feaster in any capacity.
  11. Absolutely, he's had a dreadful season but lets not forget what he's given us over the last several years and at the price he's done it for. Burrows provides an absolutely crucial element to this team, and nobody can question the effort that he brings night after night. He should absolutely not be relied upon to play on the 1st line though, he's more of a guy you move between your 2nd and 3rd lines.
  12. I think there's a very good chance there's at least one forward that drops, one of those 2nd tier guys like Dalcolle for sure. The top 3 picks are very clear, 4-15 aren't. Every report I see is totally different, everyone likes someone different after the top 3 and i'd bet it will be the same with team's scouts. If we aren't going after Ekblad there's no reason to do anything, we'll be in prime position to benefit from another teams blunder. I do know if we trade Kes i'd want a 2015 pick because this draft blows. Reinhart and Bennett aren't worth trading up for.
  13. Sure would be nice to con Edler into waiving for Edmonton so we could get Ekblad..
  14. Drouin was taken 6 spots before Horvat and will certainly not be playing another season in Junior after this, neither should Horvat.
  15. You'd rather have Booth over Hansen and Richardson over Santorelli? Edler said he's not waiving his ntc, so doesn't look promising.
  16. Agreed, alot is up in the air. IMO Santo is the MVP this season even though he's been gone for a while, so he should be re-signed. I just am really tired of seeing us put 3rd liners in the top 6 and then being shocked when we can't score. I don't care what the bottom 6 lines look like, I just know I want to see those players there. Obviously I'd prefer if Bo stepped in and lit it up on the 2nd line, but i'm trying to be realistic. Bottom line is guys are going to have to switch positions or be moved next season, the line-up needs to be balanced. I picked Hansen because I want to keep him and he's played LW before, Mathias has played LW, and if we wanted to keep Richardson to insulate Horvat he is a natural LW as well.
  17. Well we have Kassian, Burrows, Santorelli, Mathias, and Hansen who souldn't be in the top 6 but deserve a 3rd line spot. Why not run two 3rd lines and split the minutes more evenly instead of a 4th. Get Tostitos, Richardson, Dalpe...etc out of here and put a real line out there. Boston did it with Seguin and they won a cup, Philly did it with Couturier and he progressed well. Horvats already a beast at center, we don't have to protect him on the wing like Hodgson, Schroeder..etc. Sedins-Jensen Higgins-Kes-Ufa Mathias-Santorelli-Burrows Hansen-Horvat-Kassian Another year of Junior will do nothing for him, i'm sure of that. With a roster like this you can move players all around, there's versatility from every player to move around the line-up.
  18. He's in a tough spot, he's too young to play in the AHL is he not? And if he isn't ready for the 2nd line there isn't really a spot for him, unless we go with him and ditch Richardson in favor of a more skilled 4th line which I am not opposed to.
  19. Problem is we have too many 3rd liners already, good ones too. If he's to be a Canuck it would be on the 4th line. I will give you that the Canucks 4th line is and always has been garbage. But at some point a player has to show something on his own, he's had ample minutes to do so and the results are he's sitting while a d-man has to play forward.
  20. Not to mention he's already dominated that league. It's tough to get better when you're better than the competition.
  21. I'm hoping to hear from the utica followers. I can only comment on what he's brought to the table in the NHL, which is almost nothing. He doesn't fight, he doesn't hit enough or play with an edge. I haven't seen the skill that others speak of either. Someone before me nailed it, he plays a vanilla game. We already have plenty of that.
  22. I watch every Canucks game and am wondering the same thing. He doesn't really do anything well at the NHL level to be honest or provide any type of spark, I know some people like him alot and I very genuinly wonder why.
  23. AHL would be the logical next move, he's already 21.
  24. I don't see how it's possible. In reality it would be great to deal a roster player and our first to move up, but we have nothing to offer in that regard. Nobody with an NTC is waiving to go to those teams. At this point adding another very good prospect is more valuable than trading one for a marginaly better one. Hopefully the Lottery gods are nice to us and someone good drops to us. If we can move up somehow by trading later round picks and something besides our youth than sure, after the top 15 or so this draft is junk.
