This discussion would be a better fit in its own thread in the private group anyway.

Exactly, which is why there's no real benefit to doing away with the Royal Family here.

Faded fast after the loss of her husband like so many in that position. It's really incredible to think of how the world has changed over the course of her reign.

TV - Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power

Even quoting it doesn't seem to change his mind. Apparently he understands what Tolkien's characters should look like better than Tolkien. -
Name one player who improved from their rookie season under Green. He lacked the professionalism necessary to enable talent to grow and set up way too many guys to fail. When guys are consistently peaking as rookies, that's a sign you have a massive problem behind the bench.

I really feel for the families who will have the wounds reopened for the trial and future parole hearings. -
[Signing] Senators re-sign Tim Stutzle

I'd have it as the third best Canadian option behind Vancouver and Montreal. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Michael DiPietro
King Heffy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
DiPietro needs to get some games in to increase his value. A team like Winnipeg who opted to go into the season without an NHL quality backup is likely to be desperate at some point and overpay. -
Gotta be awkward for the kids they drafted this year who weren't even born the last time they won a playoff round.

WHL is a much better value, especially for those of us on the island. Add in hotel and ferry and you can get season tickets for the price of a weekend in Vancouver for a game. -

Look at a guy like Motte who still doesn't have a contract. -

Also the Easterlings. Tolkien himself was strongly opposed to racism as well, but facts are getting in the way of people's feelings again. -
(Proposal) Sign Horvat for one year cheap deal
King Heffy replied to tan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
That would get us put under investigation for cap circumvention. -

That's likely to be fantastic value near the end of the contract. -
[Rumour] Rangers shopping Nils Lundkvist
King Heffy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
How about Prokop from Nashville? Openly gay, tough as nails, and now playing for team with an extremely homophobic owner. He's exactly the type of player I want for our right side. -
Won't fix anything unless the decision is taken out of the refs' hands altogether, unless you believe scum like Sutherland are merely incompetent instead of corrupt. This rule still assumes the refs working the game are trying to conduct themselves like professionals. The only way to solve the officiating issue is to actually hold problem refs accountable.

(Proposal) Podkolzin for RHD
King Heffy replied to Putgolzin's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I'd need a pretty big overpayment. There's tons of other players that make more sense to move and still have value. -

I definitely won't have time to keep up with this over the next month or so. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller
King Heffy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Where did I say Benning did a great job? We've been over this, but Gillis got that far based mostly on the roster that was gifted to him by actual hockey people and he subsequently destroyed the franchise with his complete inability to evaluate players. Fortunately, we have hired multiple people who actually understand the game unlike that unqualified imbecile. Management is not a binary process. -

I'm open to that as well, although I strongly prefer to keep Boeser. -

Me too. I wanted to either retool or give the current group the best chance to win possible. That first is likely to be too far away from meaningful contributions during the team's window. Dickinson and a 2024 first for a quality defensive RHD with some term would be great. -
[Proposal] Pearson+ for DeMelo
King Heffy replied to 86Viking's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Pretty decent idea. DiPietro might interest Winnipeg; he has a legit chance of cracking their roster as they have no NHL backup as well. -

Fortunately our current management all have functioning brains and don't have a history of destroying a franchise, unlike Gillis. They've been given a decent core of talent; now it's time for them to finish the job. We are lucky that the damage Gillis caused to the franchise has mostly been erased with the end of the Luongo penalty, but should be mindful of how crippling it can be to allow someone that stupid to run your hockey team. -
