  1. Yeah, that wasn't ok. Match penalty isn't much of a deterrent if he can't come back anyway though.
  2. I wanted Stankoven so badly when he was still available. I like Klimovich and think he will work out, but Stankoven was obviously good value by that point.
  3. Definitely. He's been outstanding and we would be in serious trouble if he had started.
  4. Goaltending change is paying off for the Swiss right now. New guy looks sharp.
  5. Hoping Latvia can come back but regardless, they should be very proud of their performance. Looking forward to seeing them back in December with a better crowd.
  6. Lots of physicality to this game. Reminds me of an NHL playoff game even with the pitiful attendance.
  7. Hoping Latvia can pull off the upset here.
  8. I think a good compromise would be allowing each ump to input his own strike zone into the machine, given a reasonable range. Keeps the human element but eliminates egregious errors like this.
  9. The problem with this management group is that they're very willing to take a risk on a potential bargain reclamation project but they won't take a risk on bringing in a high end guy. The window is open now and we really need a guy like AA or Gillick who is willing to go all-in.
  10. I think vaccinations as a whole have been victims of their own success. My parents' generation saw so many diseases cease to be an issue that there was very little left. We're now losing the collective memories of having relatives who have died from things like polio and it's led to a lot of complacency.
  11. Same issues as the Oilers. Great offence but awful pitching, with management seeming to be unwilling to fix it.
  12. I'm not sure I trust this management group to do it though. First move should needs to be cleaning house in the front-office/
  13. Hopefully this means the team will be more proactive with examining players who take a nasty hit to the head.
  14. Hunt's play in his own zone was nowhere close to acceptable. There was no legitimate reason for him to be allowed to play a single shift in the NHL last year. He's proven himself to be worse than useless and we are a better team without him.
  15. Jays should be interested in any available pitcher with a pulse.
  16. I think we can both agree that Nonis is very underrated by many, both for refusing to make that trade and the Luongo trade. His willingness to sacrifice his job for the long-term health of the franchise shows why Burke respects him so much.
  17. Gillis is fine in a business setting where he has zero input on player personnel. Benning earned his shot here and it didn't work out, but there is zero reason for anyone to allow Gillis anywhere near their Hockey Ops. He not only didn't understand player evaluation, it looks like he wasn't even willing to learn. The fact that he didn't hire someone actually slammed qualified for the GM position refutes the claim that he was too focused on the organization aspects.
