  1. Edmonton still somehow made the conference finals without a single NHLer on their right side. It was atrocious and they definitely paid the price once they played a men's team, but our right side is nowhere near as bad as their AHL trash. It'll be fine once they have a full season without Baumgartner sabotaging the group with his gross incompetence.
  2. He'd easily be the best LD on the following: Edmonton Washington Florida Philly Boston Toronto Pittsburgh San Jose New Jersey Montreal St Louis Seattle LA Ottawa Chicago Detroit Dallas Anaheim Buffalo OEL is criminally underrated here.
  3. Agreed. Benning didn't do great but he left the team in a better position than when he found it, unlike the incompetent imbecile he replaced. Benning will find another job as an AGM eventually, while no one in their right mind would hire Gillis for any hockey related position. Benning may have struggled with some cap decisions but he understands the sport, while Gillis simply was not qualified for any role that required player evaluation.
  4. We'd need a hard cap implemented to have any chance of making it successful.
  5. Edmonton definitely needs to be at the very bottom. Nurse is literally the only actual NHLer they have in their blueline, and he still isn't very good defensively and refuses to play like a man. A right side that includes pylons like Bouchard and Barrie puts them in the running for the worst D group in the history of the league.
  6. Pretty stoked for training camp. Last time we've gone into camp with NHL quality management and coaching was when we had Burke and Crow.
  7. Bedard is the most exciting player I've ever witnessed at this tournament. He has the ability to make something happen every time he touches the puck.
  8. I obviously want to keep Petey, so that leaves Horvat and Miller. Miller's a better player, but Horvat will be better value for his next contract, and the return would be similar.
  9. Blender likely will be used in training camp instead as Boudreau knows that the purpose of camp isn't too audition guys for depth roles only to gift jobs to AHL trash anyway. We haven't had a camp ran by actual coaches in a long time and a lot of us have forgotten what it's like. Boudreau also prefers to use set lines and not change them for no reason unlike the idiot he replaced.
  10. Calling it a Gillis or a Dubas. At least Benning has succeeded in previous hockey related roles where he wasn't the GM.
  11. I'm not crazy about his defensive play, but if Rathbone is in the AHL it could work.
  12. Smith going back and Lehner going on LTIR covers Bobrovsky's cap this season. Vegas isn't in the habit of thinking ahead more than one year.
  13. I'm not sure he's less of a risk then Bobrovsky even now.
  14. Agreed. I don't think another year in the AHL to work out the defensive kinks would hurt Rathbone anyway. Work under the assumption that he's not ready and make room if he earns it. Regardless, historically our blueline gets a lot of injuries so we will need extra warm bodies.
