  1. That really takes away any misgivings I had about the deal. Hopefully playing for a contender helps him turn back the clock a little.
  2. Let's see what he can do without a clown like Baumgartner sabotaging him. He's more than capable of playing steady, if unspectacular defence, which is precisely what we need on the right side. Boudreau helped but it wasn't possible to undo the damage done by the idiots he replaced. A full training camp ran by qualified coaches should fix a lot of the system issues that seemed to impact guys like Poolman.
  3. Even our RD is better than any division rival other than LA, Calgary and Vegas.
  4. LA Vancouver Vegas Edmonton Anaheim Calgary San Jose Seattle
  5. He was serviceable but replaceable here. Better for him to play closer to home and get paid well instead of the AHL.
  6. I'm of the opinion they start the playoff failure this year. They might not win, but they'll be in the discussion.
  7. They're a bubble team in my books this year, young, and finally have ownership that cares about winning. D is their main weakness but their prospect pool should solve that. I see them as being similar to Winnipeg prior to their conference final appearance.
  8. Ottawa is about 3 years away from being a Cup contender. I don't think any other Canadian team is that close.
  9. OEL isn't even overpaid given the recent UFA contracts. He's better than Nurse and way, way better than Rielly, where Dubas paid 7.5 mil long term for AHL trash.
  10. That is insanity to make that trade without being damn sure he'll get vaccinated. I'm really hoping this is just posturing for the media because that's a massive waste of assets otherwise.
  11. The big deal never seems to happen. I'd honestly be pretty happy to see a management change in the offseason as I don't think this group has what it takes to put us over the hump. However, I was spoiled growing up in the Gillick era where we were consistently bringing in HOF quality guys.
  12. That makes no sense. He was pitching fine in LA and he's somehow worth trading for not worth keeping on the roster? At least previous management had the balls to take a big swing and get Price.
  13. We'll agree to disagree, because Green wasn't even a good AHL coach and was grossly incompetent at the NHL level. He really needs to work on his professionalism and learn how to set the lineup properly. The nepotism shown by allowing an unqualified baboon like Baumgartner to sabotage the D was appalling as well. It was abundantly clear that Green nor Baumgartner were intelligent enough to even understand that their systems were the problem.
  14. There was more pressure on the puck carrier. It was definitely an improvement, but it's hard to completely change the system in midseason. I'm hoping Baumgartner and Green didn't cause permanent damage, but I'm hopeful the defensive coverage should be better with actual coaches in charge for the full season.
  15. A full season without Baumgartner and Green should help with that. Boudreau undid a lot of the damage but guys were slipping into bad habits when the team was struggling. A full camp should fix that.
  16. The only team better than us in the division is LA. Vegas hired a coach that will likely make their issues worse, Edmonton still has zero NHL quality D other then Nurse, and Calgary clearly played over their heads last year and got exposed as frauds. While they removed some of the cancers in the room, they lost a lot of production in the process.
  17. Got overpaid due to the career year and having to play in a hellhole of a city. Let's see how he does when the entire team doesn't play over their heads and misses the playoffs.
  18. I guess it depends if they think the window will be any better next year with the Yankees possibly losing Judge. At some point in the next couple of years they'll need to go all-in while Vladdy is under club control.
  19. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/look-white-sox-manager-tony-la-russa-appears-to-nearly-fall-asleep-in-dugout-during-game-vs-royals/ At least he wasn't driving this time. People who think Boudreau is too old should look at this fossil.
  20. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-suspends-dolphins-owner-strips-team-of-2023-first-rounder-for-tom-brady-sean-payton-tampering/ Hopefully the NHL looks into this as well.
  21. DeHaan would be a good fit, and I'd sign Motte in a heartbeat if it was an option. Subban would love it here with his charity work.
