I'm not sure even Scotty Bowman could get McDiver to start acting like a real man; his character issues are obvious and the Oilers really need to cut their losses and strip the C from him. They also still have only one NHL quality defenceman in the overpaid Nurse; Barrie and Bouchard have shown no sign they even want to learn how to play defence at any point during their careers. Bottom line is that Calgary got humiliated by a terrible hockey team. They were horribly overrated all season and their best players in Gaudreau and Tkachuk are known around the league for being gutless cowards.
Myers may have the occasional brain fart, but he's nowhere near as bad in his own zone. I simply have zero tolerance for a defenceman who can't play defence. Klingberg can go to a team where being a defensive liability is acceptable such as Edmonton.
Distraction is only an issue once camp starts and the players are here. It's the first day of free agency and Kadri hasn't even signed yet. The East just got a whole lot more competitive and we are very obviously waiting on a trade based on the addition of yet another winger.
Even if he went to UFA, if he made it clear to management he wouldn't stay, I'd blame management, not him. Players deserve the right to choose where they want to live.
They also need to be able to actually play defence. Can't move the puck if you're fishing it out of your own net because you're a liability in your own zone.
Yes. Still more respectable players on it than the overrated joke of a franchise he just left; this is what happens when you have no leadership and let a locker room cancer wear a letter.
Compared to Calgary, yes. The only men Calgary has are our leftovers. The midget is probably stoked to get away from gutless scum like the turtle and the hunchback.
Myers is capable of playing defence. Klingberg is almost as bad as Rielly and Barrie in his own zone. I wouldn't want that kind of liability in our own zone for league minimum.
He's another defensive liability. Was hoping that Hunt would stay in the AHL where he belonged last year and we saw how that played out. No more defencemen who can't play defence.
Sure, if we can work out an extension that makes sense. We don't want to end up like Calgary where their midget is leaving town and their turtle is likely to follow. While both of these players have severe character issues, there still Calgary's best players.
