  1. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Rams take a run at him.
  2. Great deep ball, steps up his play in big games, good size. He's a raw talent who isn't ready to start right away but his ceiling is there. Reminds me of Big Ben.
  3. Paxton Lynch has had enough opportunity already. I'm not sure he's ever going to develop the decision making ability to get it done in the pros. Wouldn't be surprised to see another QB taken in the draft although hopefully not in the first round. Tremendous depth in the QB class but I don't see a guy like Mason Rudolph as being a huge downgrade from the guys likely to go early. Offensive line and WR depth still need to be addressed, while the defense needs some attention as well. Much more problems than QB.
  4. Team should just shut him down for the season regardless. It's not like we're fighting for a playoff spot so it's more important he heals properly to be at 100% for next season. He's the best rookie we've had since Bure and opponents are already taking liberties with him.
  5. Bring back the minus

You know what Heff, I was on that page for quite awhile, but I think there's greater value in forcing people to formulate a counter argument to obvious bull$&!#. If the idea is so blatantly stupid that it merits a minus, then it should either be easy to either counter or ignore.

i think the lack of a minus

has cooled the boards off in some ways

some posters feel braver and make edgier posts

but that is only a smallish change overall in my view

but the calculated negativism is muted

i found it interesting . but a bit disturbing

how some on these board were using the minus vote

i think the minus option made the boards a bit of a sadder place

  6. I wanted Pettersson or Mittlestadt, but had discounted the possibility of Benning taking EP. I was very, very pleasantly surprised at the time. Funny seeing the meltdown that happened collectively once the pick was made.
  7. I'll take overly optimistic comments over the garbage that came out of the whiners' mouths after the trades.
  8. Kid's going to be a fan favourite if he puts this kind of effort in consistently. Great passes, and was flying all over the ice. Fit in perfectly on the first line and made the most of his PP opportunity. Liked how he played in OT despite the end result.
  9. If Benning had added Leipsic and Motte for free going into the season, I'd be pretty stoked about it.  That's the end result of what Benning accomplished today.

    Well done JB.

You guys are doing it wrong, JB could have added a 5th and 6th rounder instead and drafted another Gaudette and a Datsuyk. It's so easy even an couchlocked GM can do it.

      you forgot to include jussi

who was the most pursued player in the nhl this season

      was wanted by 4 teams

      amazing :P

and our good fortune to get him

      "couch locked"

Leipsic - great another name for CDC to mis-spell. But if we had picked him up vs. Burmistrov I think we would have seen some better games for sure.

Our F group is still too easy to play against, with exceptions being Bo, Sutter most nights, Archie and lately maybe Jake. Thats not enough to shut down speedy teams like the Av's. I think the lack of grit in the F group is a bigger problem than our D, just my 2 cents, so if Leipsic can be a pain in the butt out there that can only help us.

  10. Made the mistake of viewing HFBoards.  I'm seriously worried for the mental health of a lot of those guys.

It just depends on your cup of tea. Blind optimism or constant pessimism.

i don't find this forum to be one of blind optimism

just is able to maintain a bit more balance then what little i have read on the other site

I suspect the notion over there is that we just ban all the "realists" and we're living in a fantasy land over here. It's no doubt that things are more positive over here, but the mood is still pretty darn negative these days.

  11. Lamar put up a ton of numbers in garbage time because he never got taken out. He's good but his numbers are very inflated by this.
  12. Why I never like seeing players go to arbitration, especially over a small difference. Even if the team wins, this kind of thing can happen, although it's not usually made public. Given the lack of a salary cap in baseball, it's cheap as hell to bother even taking him to arbitration.
  13. I think that's a separate issue though. These guys deserve a bigger cut than they're getting and I hope they find a way to get it. Most of these guys are vastly underpaid, so no argument there. That being said, where do you draw the line for what's acceptable regarding weighing in over the limit? The rule's fair to everyone and there's no surprises.
  14. Was one of the bright spots tonight. The team is way too soft right now so I'm hoping he sticks around as a 4th line banger.
  15. One would hope such an evil piece of trash would be stopped in his tracks. For one thing, we have hate speech laws which would create a significant obstacle for someone as bigoted as Trump.
  16. Yes. I don't have an issue with this one for precisely this reason.
  17. Not sure where you got the idea I'm opposed to pipelines. I didn't like the Enbridge one due to the ridiculously unsafe terminus. I just feel that we sell off our natural resources at far too cheap a cost. It's shortsighted and will hurt us financially in the long run.
  18. I tried it out. It's a pretty fun game overall but hella complicated. Most fun I've had playing a Paradox title has been Crusader Kings 2.
  19. Yup. The price isn't going to drop over the long-term and we don't have an unlimited supply. Why not make the investment and contribute to Canada's economy instead of outsourcing yet more jobs? Why not provide incentive to businesses to make this financially viable? I'm sick of seeing our raw natural resources shipped out with no added value. Producing what we need here in Canada makes us less reliant on trade deals with other countries.
  20. So did your friend Ryan Strome in the original post that started this....
  21. I'd rather just subsidize building refineries. Create some well-paid, long-term jobs
  22. Just clearly define what is and is not a catch. Fumbling through the end zone should be treated the same as out of bounds. As for the game, I'll be rooting for the Eagles but I'm not optimistic.
  23. Cheatriots at it again. Luckily that clock "malfunction" didn't result in points. Rooting for you guys @gmen81
