  1. Sorry I don't buy that. It's not sensible just anti Benning. Benning did mention that every time he's contacted by other GM's Rathbones name is raised, so he understands the value of the player. Rathbone is in a tough spot. The AHL is in a state of flux. Many of the teams may not be able to afford playing to empty arena's so may disband. The AHL has no idea what the schedule may be. The NHL is not sure if or when games will restart. The NCAA is in the same fix. Some universities are not going to open come the Fall and so the NCAA has no clue if sports will be able to open or a reduced number of teams, does that include Harvard. Remember athletics is not the deciding factor. In the mean time Rathbone, sensibly, is sitting hoping for the fog to clear
  2. The draft is not consistent. One year good another year bad, this year, the one we just pulled out of, basically was supposed to be a good year, next year is supposed to be poor. But it chnages, the point to scouting is not to some how control what's in the draft but to maximise your chances. For instance we got Madded in the third round and we got Macdonough in the 7th. Gaudette in the 5th and Dipitero in the 3rd., Rathbone in the 4th. That's what scouting is all about. You make the best with what you're given and Vcr has for the most part seemed to do that. I don't want to see players of Jankowski ability being drafted by Vcr is the first round now or in the future
  3. It's strange how Beartschi and Spooner played out, that's approx. $3.3 million flushed down the drain under different circumstance that would be seen as a management failure. If there are buy out coming together with a diminished Cap surely ownership must be wondering. Higgins was bought out along with Booth and Ballard. Man that's a lot of cash. Hard to make a argument or a dollar with all this money being thrown away
  4. I've never hears any "scouts" suggest deficiencies in the areas you list? I know it's not a lot but watched with interest when he was given a couple of games at the end of the season before last and what I saw was pretty good. Now I'd agree you can't make a judgement on a couple of games but from the videos ( which usually highlight only the best plays ) how eve for all this defensive blunders you mention in terms of AHL rookie defensemen he has 3rd best +/- in the league
  5. Exactly, as I said clinging to a raft like a drowning man.
  6. I'll say this Ryan Kennedy has been following the NHL and hockey in general for longer than some posters have been following the Canucks. He's a respected hockey journalist and has incredible contacts and resources. He ties most of the speculation together and sad to say many will believe unsubstantiated post rather than Kennedy. I know one thing for sure prior to the Pettersson draft I was invited to a Canuck luncheon and Bennng couldn't find enough good things to say about Middelstad. He clearly had him rated v.highly
  7. Sad to say some poster offered undisputable facts from professional scouts in the league cling to their convictions like a drowning man to a raft.
  8. Personally I don't think you can think about the now. The team is not ready to seriously contend for the SC. It's a 2-3 years away so you have to introduce the youngster so in a couple of years they'll be hitting their peaks, not now, 2-3 years from now And most of all we've moved Madden out I hope that's the last of the prospects to move on. The Vcr D needs to be refreshed. From now going forward we're going to be drafting further and further down the list.
  9. Man that's determination/character. I went through the Q & A on Canucks army and I have to say the guys seems smart
  10. I'm not sure what more he can do in the AHL. He was the top point producer for a D in Utica. He was tied for 3rd O/A in the AHL for +/- and from the video I've watched seems pretty confident with his abilities and why not. But the best part is I watched him live at Rogers and believe me he has hockey IQ. Cool under stress. He's now 25 years of age, not a youngster really. At some point Vcr has to transition from mediocre and older players to a younger more skilled group on the blue line. They're never going to be dropped into the line up with immediate success, they need to refine their game and get experience before Vcr is poised for a run at the Cup and that's likely 2-3 years away
  11. I read this article today and thought it has to be encouraging to Rafferty who as well know is basically blind in one eye
  12. Wow what I thought was impossible now seems like the "norm" both direction simultaneously
  13. Janis here the funny thing while you point out people come and go and as a rule things never chnage ie there some natural order to the business. But then you say Benning came around the changed every thing up. Which is it Theo comments and research looks good to me although Vilardi looks questionable in the AHL and the latest high pick and the top player in Ontario is a FA signing, maybe like Bouchard in Utica. Vcr rank 8th in that assessment, soooooo, Vcr did pretty well to by that account. We did trade away Madden and when they make no mention of Rathbone it does send up a red flag ( JB stated himself that every GM is asking about the availabity of Rathbone) but the author chooses to dismiss him ? All interestingdate August last year Here's the irony of all this. One segment of fans wish to hand the accolades to Benning for the drafting in Vcr and in the same breath want to by-pass Rob Blake and hand the accolades to Futa for LA success. I'd think that while it is apparent that Brackett will be on the market soon maybe, just maybe, other organization want to be in the mix for his hire, although on second thoughts why bother if it's always the GM that does the scouting
  14. I had a glance at the Ontario Reigns roster and I don't see any outstanding prospects. The team is low in AHL the standings. Certainly nothing there to encourage me. Other than word of mouth how are we to judge the guy. Maybe a friend on current management, maybe a chap that bows to authority. I'm interested to know what he bring rather than Eliot Friedman Here's their draft record http://canucks.ice.nhl.com/club/draftstats.htm?year=All&round=All&team=LAK&supl=N
  15. I'm thinking if the tourney is cancelled there's maybe a chnace the NHL season will be delayed too
  16. I presume you're from the Trump school of thought. All media is fake news. I assume you note this comment was an actual quote I wish there was some thing I could do with the Font size
  17. I don't doubt that Brackett will re surface in the NHL I wonder how much that will influence Vcr dealing with which ever team that may be. It seems only natural that all the vcr dirty laundry will be exposed It seems like there is acrimony there
  18. I enjoyed this article Weisbrod was responsible for the blockbuster trade of disgruntled superstar Tracy McGrady. In a 7-player deal which sent McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines to the Houston Rockets, the Magic received erratic point guard Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato. Weisbrod received written death threats from fans on different occasions following this transaction. Man that's getting pretty serious
  19. Trite! There are some problems that defy solution, cancer for instance and stubbornness
  20. If you're making some popcorn for me, could you be sure to put some butter on it
  21. Wow I never heard that. There was know mention when I put down my deposit.
  22. I remember at the time Jankowski was completely off the board and most analyst laughed. Last year as a 25 year old he played in 56 games and score 5 goals and 2 assists, truly a display of 1st round selection, a player for the future,
  23. Seems reasonable, but I doubt there would be an increase of ticket prices here. Mtl/TO pass season tickets down to family members but in Vcr I predict sales will be tough enough without thinking of an increase. There's a lot of private and corporate loss of capital and hockey tickets are not a must in the budget
  24. So is it fair to say that Brackett is as good as gone ???? or is it just media making up stories without foundation etc etc. Here's the question who is going to rush in and take over the Brackett position knowing he's in a lame ass subservient role. where he needs to suck up and acquiesce at every turn, well!! that will be Bracketts replacement. I feel sorry for who ever it is because sure as Hell he ain't coming out of this with his character in tact. Maybe Benning can sell programs on game days too
  25. Better still simply stop reading your nonsense
