  1. I like the comment made by JT, "it's fun coming to the rink again"
  2. I like that assesment mostly determined by reality rather than dreams IMO. I think we end up on the positive side of the ledger
  3. IMO where the rubber hits the tarmac is you simply can not in the Cap era have team full of expensive player. So ou need cheap skilled players in addition and the only place that provides that IMO are ELC. They don't have to be first round picks but the likelhood is very strong
  4. AB turns out to be an astute selection. I asked when I first heard the trade announced I naivelt thought whois this kid? This where I think many fans some what like I do know lots about the Vcr roster butnot a lot beyond that, which is why some saying they think Burroughs and others on the eddge of our skills rosteer are OK, I think is there better out there that I'm unaware of/ IMO the Pro scouts have such a bd name I simply don't have a lot of faith in them. however AB was a feather in their hat
  5. Sounds crazy but some how I tend to think FA saw himself as a Presidnetial like figure
  6. If Myers is traded it'll be for small if any return. This is all about clearingCap space and making way for less expensive replacements. I've never seen Filip Johansson (RHD) play but just reading the tea leaves it strikes me they have some expectation from this guy. Summer will tell the story
  7. The leading scorer was Pederson, they brought him up and he never quite made it despite having better stats. I'm hoping Karlsson makes it but right now in terms to P/G he's behind where Pederson was.
  8. Logic tell me Myers is gone this summer.... after his bonus is paid. He is only paid $1mill per year after the bonus is paid. Moving Myers ate $1 mill per season is ideal for teams thtdon't have a cap problems, maybe Arizona. Plus lets not limit ourselves to players Vcr alone undersatdns. We're tring to upgrade not same old same old
  9. And there's the difference between a experienced GM and a rookie GM. One of Benning unfortunate problems was lack of experience. JR has a lot of experience with other owners he knows just how hard to push
  10. Let's be honest with ourselves Benning was fired for incompetance. I look forward to seeing if any club will take a gamble on him, so far no takers
  11. Give this a read, well researched and full mainly of facts Aidan McDonough is the last of the prospects from the Jim Benning/Judd Brackett era to hit the NHL | The Province
  12. Rypien was small but then again he wasn't. Juulson isn't a technical fighter IMHO and is good at taking punches to the head/helmet. Burroughs on the other hand has techncal fighting skills and lands as many as he takes and you don't need to ask him twice, he's all in
  13. Bears a strange assortment of skills. He isn't big but doesn't have th skatig skills of Hughes, not a good look. Shorter D need great manouverability, Hughes has that, Bear doesn't. To me he's a third pairing D'man.
  14. Yeah I think this is the drark horse PA is keeping under wraps. I remember JR saying unobtrusively in on interview we have some good ones coming and PA quietly adding he's impressed by Johnasson. He's under cotract and just on loan in the SEL. Likley help if he can come over and test his abilities as a yard stick for next season
  15. The point I like about the dynamic duo ( ) is they're taking a varied approach to the team. Not all things work for all teams. Going via the draft or rebuilds is not a universal model. If they see a good D'man what ever or how you draft for the future but in the mean time you must provide & draw fans and balance the financial ledger. I like the Hronek deal, by all acounts is a definite upgrade likely worth a 1st round pick. Bear was an upgrade, Kuzmenko was a absolute steal and equivalent to a top 5 pick. I'll be shocked if Myers is not moved in the summer after his bonus is plaid and his salary is down to $1 mill per year. Their management of Abbotsford seems to be a winner with possible prospects advancing to the big team on low salaries. I could go through all the moves but that would be boring. Over all IMO they're on the right track, but it doesn't work over night. I'd like to see a quicker turn around but I'd bet anything it would turn out to be a Benning mess
  16. Dallas played like a team who played 3 game in 4 days. Frankly I have no idea how these guys can do this
  17. A bit skewed, we now have a goalie
  18. His deffiency is different than Horvat. Horvat needed speed ( relayively easy to cure ) McDonough needs qickness He has heavy feet apprently. I wasn't joking about squash, a NCAA coach recommended squash for a player I new. What are the attributes of a good squash player? There are a wide variety of different physical attributes that go into making up an athlete in any sport, and in squash, this includes endurance, stability, power, speed, and flexibility.
  19. Slowly slowly catch the monkey. There's no rush but there is an expecation of getting it right. Only the fans are impatient
  20. And they might do just that. But under the 22/23 season maybe not room for him. If you're maanger you have priorities. It's why they have all these scouting meeting, trying to prioritize their propsects. Jurmo may well be good but in management eyes not #1 IMO
  21. Horvat is a good player and was driven this year ( his contract year ) but where was that in past seasons. I liked him and might be a great example to youngsters. But Miller is a driver not an onlooker
  22. Not fair to mention Crosby, he's not a hockey player, he's the exception with unlimited talent. Garland is good at puck retrievel he's also player that has 12 goals in 64 games at $5 mill per season, mainly because he's unable to drive the net
  23. I'm not sure how many slots we have in our contracted players. It was 5 but we've signed a couplesince then. So I'm thinking they'll have a prioriy list keeping in mind some NCAA FA's soon to become available
  24. All of that's true. Seems like AM is heavy on his feet, not unusual for big players. You look at QH he seems to float, very very light ( it's why he can play as many minutes as he does ) It's one thig to learn power skating technics ( as Bo did ) by lengthening his stride, or becomig quicker with your first couple of strides but becoming light on your feet is extremely difficult. A lot of squash and maybe try tap dancing
