Bärtschi and Clendening both have to make the Vcr team or they need to go on waivers to get them down to Utica Don't like Webers chances, shame because he looked good and the better of the 2
-
There's method to WD madness. He's teaching youngster that life in the NHL is tough. You play every shift like it was your last and you have to do some thing exceptional to take away a vets slot. Both SB and Kenins are on the edge of their seat almost crying out for a role on the team and Willy's telling them when you can do it every night every shift then and not before you'll get a regular spot. It's tough to become a Pro in the NHL, few prospects make it, the chnaces are stcked against you, but that has a direct corrolation between what you bring each shift. If they're smart they'll do it if they're not smart..... next.

Maybe Jensen, this is a supposed Elite level player showing 3rd line stats. Still a long way to go and sure we can blame his line mates in Calgary or his line mates at the WJC for his lack of elite production ... but ... there has to be a concern. Remember the Calgary Hitmen coach wants the best for his team as does the WJC coach but he never crabbed their attentions. No one try's to fail. There's a long road ahead for sure

If Baertschi comes back and bites Calgary in the a$$ I'm not thinking it will be well thought of in Calgary. As in "how the Hell did this guy end up in a Canucks shirt"
-
You wonder if Baertschi goes on to having a good career what negative effect it may have on Brad Treliving careers .....ouch
-
I can't rate Clendening above Corrado. All I can think of is Clendening is a JB choice Corrado is a Gillis choice
-
I don't understand why Corrado was sent down simply because the team is limited to 4 call ups....they just blew one call up ....why ?

The beauty of Gaunces play is he hasn't flat lined. He's getting better as he goes along. Managers I'm sure like to follow development. Jensen seems to falling back, Shinkaruk has never got into a groove he seems to be stalled but lots of time. You listen to Gaunce speak and he's so understanding and smart seems like he has it all figured out, much like Horvat, they understand what is required of them. I'd like to think come next September he before others might be NHL ready.

It's my understanding that one of the Black Bears top players has just signed a NHL contract. This might impact on Huttons decission. One hand it's nice to have life insurance with a degree in your back pocket and it's no skin off the Canucks nose if you fail to make it. Hanging around on a amateur hockey team playing 2 games a week does do justice to the concept of development. Some tough choices for a young guy and I hope he has people he can council

One comment Benning made and maybe passed un-noticed was he said " I hope to get the second round pick back ( Baerstchi pick ) before the draft" So some one is chnaging area codes.
-
Sure but there are 23 roster spots if you're filling it with guys that can't add to the team and should be in Utica you're not seen to be doing the utmost to win every night, slippery slope. I wouldn't want a Utica player being paid NHL money. Maybe it's another prospect that looses his place because Baertschi is taking his spot. Hey lets hope he come through and plays like a 1st round pick
-
I'd agree with that Stanton is here to stay he can play bottom pair minutes
-
If he's put on waivers we just wasted a 2nd round pick in a very good and deep draft
-
The point raised on team 1040 is a good one. Baertschi has been gifted a roster spot ....regardless if he's ready or not. His ELC and the ability to send him down to Utica is at an end ( hence why Calgary traded him )so like it or not, he's either going to play in Vcr, or, be waived ( and he will be picked up ) At that point it's wasted 2nd round pick. If he has to be carried will he be afforded the same rules as Kassian is subjected to and which other propsect or FA does not make the team ?
-
Has Virtanins place just been surplanted by Baertschi ? Baertschi can not be waived next season...Vitanin obviously can.
-
His ELC expires this year so he either plays with Vcr or he has to be waived down to the AHL ?
-
Yeah youthful enthusiasm can cover up the odd mistake. The question will be howdo you send the likes of Kenins and Biega back to Utica when the vets become healthy. This is what I'm wondering about . . . " ... The 23-man roster limit is in place from the conclusion of the preseason until 12:01 am on the day of the NHLs Trade Deadline. After that teams are allowed to have an unlimited active roster at the NHL level, provided players are signed to one of their 50 contract slots. NHL teams are only allowed to dress a maximum of 20 players 18 skaters and two goaltenders for any given game, but those 20 must come from the 23-player active roster. ... With the Ukranian/Russia conflict and the expected further restriction to be placed on Russia by EU & NA who knows if he, or other Russian players, will be granted visas to play in NA in the future. I have to think there's some serious doubt starting to creep in. Kerry was pretty blunt today

What impressed me with Gaunce in his interviews is his intelligence. I don't think he needs things explained twice. He has a good understanding of the game.

To be honest I think Vey is going to be better than many expect. He's 23, first full season in the NHL. Is a possesion style player, very smart and I don't doubt he will be better next year. The bad side is he's not big. But there are few prospects who have greater skill or vision than Vey. The only comparible player in the prospect ranks IMO is Shinkaruk...high end skill and vision. After that our prospects have doggedness and size...which is good but not the style that put's pucks in the net. You have to think Jensen is becoming a disapointment his stats just don't add up to a high end producer. Despite playing on one of the top teams in the AHL he's not putting up comparible numbers to other young AHL players. Lets hope he's a guy that maybe plays better in the NHL than the AHL...some do. But as we speak he's scored 10 + 8 in 32 games in the AHL while Vey has scored 7 + 11 in the NHL believe it or not there is a big difference between the two leagues Last year Vey had 53 ( 14 + 39 ) pts in the AHL/NHL 61 games ...both the same age at that stage. When you look at Vcr prospects you have to think there's a dearth of high end ...high end skill amongst them....seems the best maybe Shinkaruk or Virtanin but he's 18 and a few years away. It's inetresting to watch their progress
-
True I missed that point but he has been playing on the 4th line, less minutes and never sees the PP
-
Gaunce a year younger than Jensen has the same points and is a plus 2 where as Jensen is a minus 7. Both same size. Gaunce first year Pro Jensen 2nd plus a year in the SEL. Gaunce always looks like he's not breaking a sweat ( not in a good way ) To me Gaunces graph is still rising, Jensen seems to have flat lined http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0070412015.html

Oops my mistake the scout said "make the NHL next year" that's a vital part I missed out my bad
-
There was a scout on 1040 today who was hesitant about Virtanin making the NHL but also noted he is extremely strong and team mates in Calgary are hesitant about taking a hit from Virtnen because of his frame and strength. Very powerful, at that level any way.

Well this is McNally's second quality season ( last year seems to be a wright off after the academic probation and all it includes ) On the other hand Hutton has one out standing season with the Black Bears
