  1. I thought of that but showing all the other prospects makes you realize we as Canuck fans shouldn't get carried away and expect miracles....there's lots of players out there
  2. NCAA ranked defensemen......Hutton comes in at #6 not bad for a sophomore http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/104441/johns-matheson-lead-good-crop-of-drafted-ncaa-defensemen/#more-104441
  3. I don't want him to fail as a fan that would be stupid and counter productive, I just hope he realizes that he needs to show some thing this go around. He can't take the role of hundreds of other AHL players. He's getting a chnace make the most of it and when the games over there should be a buzz about him, he can't be vanilla. Last call up he was deffinatley vanilla
  4. There's an element within the Canucks fans that worship Luongo, he can do no wrong in their minds. He's a good goalie, but he's one man on the team and the following is disproportionate to his role. The constant serenading the player with chants of Luo elevates him to all star status and that he is not. Fans seem to swoon over the guy and often over look the rest of the roster and when some thing happens they don't like the howls are also disproportionate. He has 2 legs just like every one else and if he wasn't idolized like he is the highs and lows of his career wouldn't be noticed so much. Now these same fans not content to make Luo a God like player are starting to destroy Lacks & his future in Vcr. They are truly making Vcr a goalies graveyard. As much as Luo is a good goalie I'll be glad when he's gone the distraction he has caused is making a mockery of the team and the city. You'all might think he's the greatest but he was deffinatley #2 in Sochi according to the "expert" coaching staff
  5. Let's hope he makes an impact, this is an opportunity
  6. Personally I'm getting completely fed up with the whining & drama that surrounds this hockey team, it sounds more like a soap opera than a sports team. Too many fans want to relate on a personel level rather than treat it like a business. I know in my working days bosses rarely came to me and asked if you'll be offended if you have to work extra hours of miss your weekend, fly off to some lousy destination on short notice. Pull on your big boy pants and get on with it. I don't want to hear this constant whining. All the players have a job to do they get paid very well..just do it and shut the Hell up
  7. I know in the land of never never, every one plays nice and the guy with the blue eyes and the white hat always get the pretty girl....but what has that to do with the position the Canucks find themselves in. This is not the case of Luongo playing bad but the case of Lack playing well amd when you're desperate for points to make the play-offs then you go with the hot goalie
  8. Luongo and or Tanev would be my guess. Luongo for the obvious reasons and Tanev well they had trouble with signing him last summer and ended up with a 1 year contract and he's not signing for peanuts this time. But some are speculating it's Kesler.
  9. Regarding the draft I take McKenzies report as pretty indicative of what can be a expected. He has already stated this is not a great draft, pretty thin..the top players are good but after the #10 spot there's a huge drop off. #10 to 40 are much alike. So it would seem unless the scouts have some hidden gem they value it's not going to be a difference maker when Vcr picks. So they better get a character guy if nothing else. I'm not sure of UFA coming out of the NCAA this year but there may be a better chance to pick a player from those ranks...which we've done OK with. If Perlini is around he fits the latest Gillis mantra big skates well and I believe has a good shot. Chances are he'll be gone
  10. Horvat was what...last but one of the prospects cut...wasn't Shinkaruk the last cut ?
  11. Incredible IMO especally for a sophomore, some caoches only play Seniors and Juniors, good on the guy !
  12. We don't really mind as long as it's only once every 11 years
  13. Here's an interesting quote from another current Canucks
  14. When was the decree issued that only those that pay homage are permitted to post here and who made up that rule....you presumably. You're here to weed out the REAL fans from the fakes....the trolls. Well I have a name for those that blindly pass them self off as fans but are really idle worshippers...I call them sheep...in fact sheep with blinkers. I've put my money where my mouth is since Kurtenback was Captain of Vcr. Good times and bad. I've seen the times when people like you after throwing your toys out, stop supporting the team....7500 in the Pacific Coluseum, on a good night. But I stuck with it, thick and thin and now you have the affrontary to suggest 40+ years isn't good enough for you. I can't express my opinion or only after YOU give the OK. Who the heck are you !! All players in the NHL are good players but they have to be exceptional in at least one area to have success and longevity. Players taken in the 2nd round and below mostly fail. Approx 20% play at least 100 games that means 80% fail. There are lots of AHL players that may do well in the AHL but most that's as far as they go. Archibald was never drafted....never drafted.... and unless you believe in fairy tales it makes him a long shot. There are lots of Archibalds out there thousands of them. Because Vcr signs him doesn't automatically give him a leg up on all of the rest. Manager look for certain traits in players Stanton is a good example but Stantons of the world like Burrows are the EXCEPTION rather than the rule. If Archibald wants a long career in the NHL he has to make the most of his chances and shine. So you finish the game and you remember what he did...not look at the stats to check his minutes...he has to do some thing every night to stand out and then the next night and the next night. He has to show he belongs and he's better than the other thousands of AHL players. Being a Canuck prospect doesn't mean squat. Every team in the NHL has players like Archibald in their system. Think of Chicago sending down Stanton.....is Archibald as good in his position as Stanton is at his position....he better be if he wants to make an impression. Too many night you couldn't tell if he played or not...that's not good. He's a 4th liner and we all know what 4th liners primarily rely on....Weise for goodness sake ( 50% better than Archibald ) was traded because he couldn't be relied on to bring his "big" game every night to many fly by's and turn aways. I don't like players that always arrive at the puck or the corner second...you don't have to be RH or LH to make a hit or rough some one up. But it sure makes you noticed. Remember Odjiks first game...I presume you were attending that game....I was ! he went straight after Grimson ( the undertaker ) right at the oppositions bench...every one remember Odjik...man he sure looked after Pavel.. If you believe Archi is going to be a skilled goal scorer then you're seriously misguided. Archi has to hit hard EVERY night...no fly by's or turn aways and do some thing ...any thing to mnake an imprint of not people like you but management and coaches. He has to be glued in their vision...he didn't and now he's back in the "A". Golaies always used to be told never let a goal in on the American league side ( short side ) because that's where you would be if you did. Well Archi has to be sure he takes every chnace to squash a few opponents at every chnace..... if he doesn't he';; end up ...oh waite a minute he is back in the AHL
  15. Just tell me this is Archi a close relative or maybe you work for his agents Don't worry about any of these guys...he's not competing with any of those players. Archi = 4th line player. If he can't knock Sestito out of the box then I'm sure he'd be more than happy to line up on the right side....some thing like Burrows that came here as a left winger but converted to RW because that's where the opening was. I'm sure Lain would be only to happy to play wing if need be. Heck Linden was a RW when he was drafted amd initially played there, he was a convert to centre. Hutton started in hockey as a forward. But Archi won't and so limits his opportunity ...nuts !! It's a difference of likely around $500K a season. You might turn that down but I'll put my money of the fact Archi would jump at the chance.. You've still never explained why he was sent down ? other than suggesting he can't handle playing on the right side. No one wants any thing but success for Archi...including me...but what Tortorella is asking for AGAIN AND AGAIN is toughness/grit/stiffness and that is apprently Archi doesn't want to bring. The opportunity is/was there but he allowed it to slip by and the inevitable happened. You guys want to stick your head in the sand and think differently or re write recent history so be it.
  16. Grenier & Jensen IMO are in Utica for the season or depending on how Vcr does in the last few weeks of the season they may give them an odd game so they know what to expect next season.. Centres last night HS, Kes, Lain and Dalpe. By not bringing DA up does tend to show his limited potential. Grenier and Jensen big chance is next September IMO. The roster is going to look different next season. Don't get me wrong like you and most fans they want to see DA do well, but he's really set himself back by playing the passive role. All Tortorella has talked about is the team needs more stiffness/compete level again and again how many more clues does he need ? He needs to watch Richardson you don't have to fight just be in the oppositions face and irriatating...he stand at the back of the pack and watches
  17. Got to pick it up with the votes
  18. Vcr call up ..................oooops .......Pelletier.... Archi...not so much. Unless he's a family relative or friend don't get personal with players. They brought him up...they sent him down, they'll bring him back when he can perform to the standard they expect. Right now he's a tweener. With his size he should be playing here or at least that what I hoped for....but the fact is they took a long look and he's not satisfying the powers to be. Think of this what is the difference between, Kassian, Lain, Sestito and Wise (before his departure) these are the players he's competing with
  19. I hear he was pretty mean in Bantam too....what's that got to do with the NHL I see Archibald ( dissapointingly ) as a bit of a Weise clone. but with less speed/skill and we just got rid of Weise
  20. I'm saying the opposite, Schroeder will never crash and bang...just watch the last couple of games...any a ction on the boards and he's hanging off about 5 feet from the scrum on the wall. All indications are MG wants big wingers like LA., St L it may not be the only way but that's the design MG has settled for. Would he OK at centre with a couple of bookends sure much like Cliff Ronning did well with Sandalak and Momeso. I'm not saying he should bewritten off but surely we can see MG has developed a penchant for big is better on the wing
  21. I've seen Archibald play here in Vancouver, alive and in person and he has some ability but he just doesn't bring ANY toughness. As to Lain, well Bieska took the face of to avoid the need for Lain to fight. Bieska then took on another Flame and guess what Lain found Westgarth and dropped the gloves with him any ways. Westgarth is an estabilshed tough guy, heavy weight in the league for years...Lain stepped up and went toe to toe with the guy. Lain read the situation and reacted accordingly....I'm of the opinion that Archibald wouldn't have done the same. In fact Archibald by the time they sent him down was starting to fade...one of the reason he was sent back to Utica. There's a reason Vcr only give Archibald a 1 year extension...he's still a player being reviewed as a "maybe" and frankly I think Archibald has misread his position and his role. I hope he gets another chnace and if he does grasps it with two hands
  22. I don`t get it with Archibald. Of all the prospects he is exactly what MG is looking for, good wheels, good size, modicum of skill. The opportunity is sitting there for the taking...what`s he missing...the meaness. Myabe it`s just not in the guy but the odd altercation would move the kid up the ladder far quicker. I`m assuming the reason they only give him a 1 year deal is because of the lack of meaness. Either it`s there or it isn`t. Lain understood immiediatley what was wanted of him, some one should pass the memo to Archibald. Lain has put the house all on black, Archibald is still wondering if he should place a bet
  23. Schroeder a winger...check his size will you. Vcr is trying very hard to become bigger and tougher down the boards. To over power the opposition in the corners and the solution is lets move the midget to wing. Hey I like Schroeder but he has to have room to demonstrate his skill and hockey IQ...slugging it out on the wall is not where he can show what he has. This is why Kassian is so well thought of he's the pro typical NHL winger that most teams are looking for MG is likely praying...frequently...that players like Labate Grenier, Gaunce, Jensen, Mallet, Lain and Horvat will follow suit and give this team some weight along the boards in the future. Here's a good rule of thumb ....make sure your forwards are players that can handle and maybe intimadate the oppositions "D"....I'm not saying fighting but players that can bang them around and make them just dump the puck and get out of the way. with a modicum of skill and able to drive to the net. Now tell me is that a picture of Schroeder
  24. I'm sure there are better bang for your buck than Welch...there's a lot of playuers like him drifting around the fringes
