  1. I think the inference is to TRADE him if you can. Let's be honest he hasn't done any thing for the last 2 years....so you ain't going to get much for him. This might be nothing more than the Christmas Spirit grabbing Booth...maybe he believed that Santa only brings presents to "good" little boys. If however he continues to play hard I'd think Aqualinni would prefer not to waste more money with yet another buy out
  2. Leaving school worked for Tanev but not so much for Connauton. Who can say. Certainly they don't get a lot of game time at school..
  3. He's on a roll this season ...is this him coming into his own or a one season flash that's the question. Seems like Gillis thinks it's the coming into his own theory. The Black Bears is a good school, remember the Kariya's all played there. You have to wonder if Vcr wants him and McNally to leave school and play in the AHL next season.
  4. In a recent interview with Mike Gillis he was asked about Horvat and Shinkaruk. As well as singing the praise for these two Gillis went out of his way to make mention of Cassells first and fore most and then went on to mention Hutton, McNally, Corrado and Jensen...but no love for Gaunce maybe just an oversight
  5. Because Sutter doesn't see his value so what....maybe the big ice who knows. But he's every thing Gillis wants big and intelligent. His furutre in the NHL is almost assured. Soon the "nucks are going to be Kings/Bruins type size taht's the direction of play-off hockey
  6. The thing that impacted Gaunce at camp more than any thing was Santorelli
  7. Man the Canuck scouts/management/ must be smiling at this guys progress, he's on a tare. 7+5 in 14 games 6'3"/200 now a sophmore defenseman so another 2 years left at school that's pretty impressive some coaches stick to Seniors and Juniors only in the games. This guys obviously forced himself into the picture

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

Yep +1 Once bitten twice shy. Players have a limited shelf life and to ask Rodin to give up yet another year of decent salary he's being paid in the SEL to take a pittance in the AHL is a stretch
  9. Problem is he's a middle weight, heck Cliff Ronning was better than Sestito but they do different jobs. You wanna see Archibald get his head taking of up against Colton Orr. I'm not a poster that trys to tell Tororella how the lines should match up...because most poster don't give any insight into what the opposing line brings to the table...that's why it's called line matching ! But that aside you gotta smile when you think of Archbald, Horvat, Kassian...you just gotta grin from ear to ear, then look at the other coach and say OK shows us your best
  10. This the last season Vcr can send Kassian down and getting him through waivers, (??) I think at this stage I'd rather have Archbald up with the big club. He seems to play his role better and is more reliable. Kassian would likely get a lot more ice down in Utica. He's playing 4th line minutes here in Vcr
  11. Hutton has 3.15 s/g over 13 games played !
  12. Just playing on an offensive style team must surely help. From what I've read his defensive game is very good, maybe an adjustment to his offensive view wouldn't hurt
  13. I'm hoping that play alongside McDavid on a team dedicated to offence will be a turning point for Gaunce....sort of finishing his development and maybe giving him quickness of skate and quickness of mind. The trade was a big help...certainly can't set him back any.
  14. Hockey Canada still think they just need to turn up and pick up the Gold at the end of the tourney...how else would you explain a coach saying this
  15. Erat was pretty good with Nashville, maybe time has caught up with him. But it can't be worse than carrying Booth right now can it ? No matter what they do from here in they aren't doing any thing with their current teams

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

Here we go, I wondered how long it would be before this came up. The knight in shining armour ready to save the franchise. He's a skill guy that likes the space offered on the big ice. He tried for 2 years in the AHL....not the NHL...to adapt and failed miserably to adjust to the NA game. I believe we still hold his rights. Give me a call in a couple of years when he's put on 15lbs and can still skate. Jensen put up numbers in the SEL as well so far it aian't showing in Utica. A different game but the same name
  17. Can we assume Gilmore knows hockey players
  18. I'd go alomg with that premise. What I liked about taking Shinkaruk was Gillis was willing to take a flyer on the kid, big gamble....big reward if he turn out to be an NHL. We can't stock the team with players like Gaunce...who I think willl for some reason be a regular...we have so many like him "safe" players we need some players like Patrick Kane. The likes of Gaunce...Higgins...Hansen all clones
  19. I can only hope Horvat turns out to be a poor mans Toews. It's good to have a lot of character and I think we're fortunate that with the likes of the Sedins, Luongo and Kesler he and the other prospects will learn how the game is played. Interesting next training camp, there surely will be a few additions with skill competing
  20. I'd go alomg with that assessment. If he does lack some speed his positioning is his ace in the hole. You can cover up a lot with good positioning. I was surprised he seemed to be in awe at the start of training camp but stared too settle down...but maybe a little to late. But the expeience IMO makes him a shoe in for next season. When you think about it next season may well be a big year with Gaunce, Horvat, Shinkaruk, Corrado, Archibald, Lack all take a more meaningful place on the roster and who knows Grenier seems to be coming along.......
  21. Not at all lets the Leafs have their HNIC, just have CBC cut their broadcasting right for Canucks games period ! Ontario gets it's mandatory games and Vcr gets either TSN or Sportsnet. As it is now if CBC does not pick up a Vcr game neither TSN or Sportsnet are permitted to pick up the game and show it. That would be especally good come the play-offs. In short CBC ...take off, we don't need you or even want you
  22. The problem I have with the HNIC, (which I might add I rarely watch unless it features the Canucks.) neither TSN or Sportsnet are allowed to show games or compete head to head with HNIC. So if the Canucks are playing on a Saturday night and they're not featured on HNIC, Sportsnet and TSN are not allowed to pick up the game. The best deal for Vcr is just black out HNIC and leave it to local broadcast, we don't need the CBC
  23. I'd like to know how many posters have seen the likes of Gaunce, Horvat etc on a regular basis to make all these projections
  24. Schroeder = one way contract making $600K Gaunce = two way contract and a $1.1 million
  25. Here's the kicker....who will be chosen by the hockey experts to play goal for Canada in the Olympics...end of discussion. So far every hockey pundut I have heard discuss the selection it's between Luongo and Crawford
