You should ask your wife if that's her recollection too

He's an assett

Yeah I like Tkachuck too

and Juolevi? I recall when Virtanen were first aquired. He went into Rogers Arena to "work out" and Burrows commented I don't know ( about JV ) maybe he'll get it one day. That was on day one and he still hasn't managed. During a game in EU ( EHC Visp) he got into a fight with his own team mate. The entire team said either he goes or we all do. Kassian sniffed too much, he was OK for a while in Edm. But they tired of him ultimately, Mtl hated him. Character is as imortant as a slap shot

I watched this kid at the WJC and eventually stood out to me was the fact he was always around the puck/action. He put up some points the coach always had him out during crucial moments of the game. I think some wuold say not another Swede but this Swede isn't similar to most other. My speculation is he may need another year in Sweden before he heads to the NHL

Few talk about Leo Carlsson but I'd very hapy if we were in a position to get him in the draft

Podkolzin is another Juolevi for many fans ( likely the same fans! ) but he does show flashed of promise which would be an upgrade on Juolevi. He has a future in the NHL just not high up in the order. Fingers crossed, having a bubbling Kuzmenko must surely help. Nice to see Kuzmenko has 28 goals in his Older rookie season

For the here and now I'd say Filip Johnasson (RHD )

The door opened with Stillman gone

Well according to Jimbo Jim Benning introduced as Canucks' GM: 'This is a team we can turn around in a hurry' | theScore.com “I like this team - I like the core players. This is a team we can turn around in a hurry.” - Benning — Vancouver Canucks (@VanCanucks) May 23, 2014

If that's the case say good by to EP, because that's what Chicago would ask for

Frankly I thought both Brisebois and Walonin are better than Stillman, who's next Studnicka would be my guess

Mr Jacobs who is Bettman master

[Report] Canucks recall Noah Juulsen, place Ethan Bear on IR

Just call us team tank -
What seems to be clear about JR/PA is the team has hit the tank button. That is the first indication that Aquaman has withdrawn his self proclaimed hockey operation expertise. JR/PA are in the tank more to make sure they get as best a player they can at this years draft ( I see JT is not in Dallas with the team ) This has never been achieved under JB or MG so from my perspective it's a step forward. As the old adds used to say "Mikey likes it "

I tend to think he was a bit of a one man band. He idn't like some one like Gilman playing the part of the devils advoctae. It was him and Weisbrough and the rest were just dressing. Turns out as you suggested his scouting views were mainly of his own making.

Interesting article in the Province Despite offers to trade back, GM Jim Benning didn’t and drafted a defenceman well above slot, who he had come to covet based off a fine performance at the World Juniors. Juolevi was seen as a decent prospect, but not a guy to draft fifth overall. He would have been available further back in the first round and there were offers from teams below the Canucks that would have been worth taking with Benning so set on drafting Juolevi. Lockwood was a solid choice but injuries slowed him in college, so it’s impressive he rebuilt his game enough to get some NHL games in. But in the end, the Canucks got just 69 games out of this draft. !!! And the keys were truly handed over to Judd Brackett, leading to the focused process that first landed Elias Pettersson in the first round and led to four other players at least playing NHL games. Jonah Gadjovich looks to be the second full-time NHLer out of that draft, which is the minimum you want out of a draft class. There’s till a chance Kole Lind turns into something, though like Lockwood he hasn’t shown enough in the NHL to truly suggest he deserves many more chances. pjohnston@postmedia.com

I have no idea how old you are but I can advise you time and tide wait for no man. OEL is not reverting to his youth and can only get worse on a long expensive contract. It serves no purpose to show clips of a by gone era

Here's an interesting snippet for Stillman enthusiasts in our midst, likely the same people who swooned about Juolevi

Funny enough I kept my eye particlarly on both Brisebois and Wolanin llast night and although Hughes was used a lot I don't think there can be many complaints aabout the other two LHD. We have to solve the Cap problem, these two might be a step in the right direction

I was there during the Gillis era too! He was smart and I enjoyed that. Many felt threatened. Those closest to Gillis was Quinn. I alway get a kick out of the fans that are always shouting shoot as if they some how some way were better than the players. There's a lot of fans have no idea what they're watching. Every time we see mention of Abbotsford say thank you Mike LOL Sadly it's taken 8 years of ineptitude to make it a true develpment tool and thats on JB

A couple of things. McDonoughs advisor will be fully awaare of which teams have interest in him, I haave no doubt about that regardless of NCAA rules. Vcr is in chaos which can be good for a prospect ( opportunity ) but could be bad ( blind leading the blind ) Vcr has three LH wingers listed Beauvillier , Hogelander and Kuzmenko. With PDG, Pearson as possibilities. So he's in with a chnace LOL

Maybe you're right, but the common denominator is Aquallini. For me I enjoyed the success of Gillis. I have had season tickets for decades and enjoyed the Gillis era simply because I generally left Rogers with a smile. In addition I like to listen to intelligent people, I appreciate and can maybe learn a thing or two. I could appreceate Gillis partly because he reviewed every aspect of the franchise and upgraded where necassary. For instance we have Abbotsford because of the Gillis push, he hired Gilman and Brackett and openly disclosed later he was slow off the mark chnaging the scouting staff, he could tell you without qualms if he erred and to be perfectly honest Aquallini played to the crowd, a few ignorant supposed fans. I also liked the fact that all the other GM's in the league who know far, far more about the job than any of us voted him GM of the year, I take note of things such as that. Many can offer excuses about the fact about him being the most successfull GM in fanchise history (especially those that think drafting is the be all and end all ) and what he was left with roster players but the fact is he did add a lot of quality to the team and I liked that, did he make errors .... for sure but they were few and far between. JB rinsed repeated again and again. The Cap situation is now dire
