I think there's a correlation between your scouting strength and where we draft. The late Patrik Jonnson drew from EU and Brackett drew from USJHL/NCAA ? Our current head of amateur scouting is Todd Harvey so who knows maybe we're in for picks from the CHL

I agree, good value. He can punch holes in steel plates

Fans were asked to be patient during the JB regime, tell me how much longer. Fans, especially those that buy STH are getting fraid and tired of the same speech over and over. You start moving the best playerss and you are likely trading away your fan base too

BB is 0.6 pts / game, JT is 1.07. PIMS ( this for a play off role remember ) JT 23, BB 8. JT plays centre as well as wing, BB outright winger. There's some big differences between the two. IMHO BB is a shadow of his past accomplishment. He's still a good player but I'd think there are a substantial list of 11goal players to choose from

The problem is Karlsson is an UFA come June 2022. It may be two late, the club has dithered for to long. I'd think teamms like Seattle, Buffalo etc maybe willing to sign him
-
And yet the sheep are going with Miller, a far better and more consistant player. I know you on't get much fro BB but you do unload his salary and maybe get a low 1st/early second for him ?

[Report] Canucks name Émilie Castonguay as assistant GM
Fred65 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
If we're honest Roussel was an element missing from the roster, they also looked for Ferland to bring that as it was all came about when Dorsett was forced to retire. Still the role is unfilled and i suspect they'll be looking around. I see MacEwen went toe totoes with Chara, not a good ending -
He'd be a fool not to listen to offers, there's a 50-50 chnace he could walk

Good article about tthe need to own a smart phone to be a STH Letters to The Sun, Jan. 22, 2022: Seniors decry smart phone requirement | Vancouver Sun

Does Karlsson become a UFA 1st june this year ?? that's when our initial rights expire ?? any one know
-
I tend to wonder if BB is relying too much on his past laurels. BB has 19 pts versus Millers 39 pts. Miller is in the full beats mode and will defend his patch if pushed, BB not so much. I don't know if you'd get as a good a return in a trade but certainly JT looks like he going to be a better all round player for yeaars to come

Let's hope the Pro scouts in EU are still following him and will recgnize his skills which seem, from over here, to be worth a signing

I remember vividly watching Forsling in the WJC. He was terrific and in every tough position the Swedish coach trotted out Forsling, PP, PK and most impostant the last minute of the game/period. I really thought we'd caught sunshine in a bottle

I'll say this, Demko has immproved his game the last 2 seasons IMO his rebound control was poor but he's cleaned that up, thnks maybe to Clarke

Playing in the WHL has been a good learning tool for the kid

What in the heck s that supposed to mean ? You may well disagree with my opinions, all well and good. But To suggest dishonesty seems a little over the top

I don't get it Miller being to old. He's 28 a 5 year contract would make him 33. We currently have 6 players 30 or older with long term contract. None of them playing at Miller ability. If we're saying he's too old it also means we have real doubts about the teams immediate future and better start looking for fresh meat

Little compensation for throwing him away for nothing

Your suggesting that Kassian after his struggles with drug has been a consistent NHL still pllaying in todays game is some how a "nah" is nothing short of
-
Exactly, Gillis actualy realized that Canucks were too light, Hence the likes of Lapierre, Rome, Weise, Bitz and Kassian. Some worked out some didn't

Thosee that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Winston Churchill.
-
You should add the most successful era in Franchise history, fact. Truth be told tou should really add Tenev, Markstrom
-
What Gillis left behind was a team that over performed for many years, achieved greatness where greatness had never been consider. The success he aci the league up and lest we forgeteved is mind boggling, I doubt ill be reepeated again. The Gillis haters want to judge solely on prospects. Well JB did bring in some prospects for sure, BUT, his team stunk, achieved zero and at the end of the day judge the team on the level of success, wins and lossses, not who we have in the AHL!!! I can only assume you weren't around in the Gillis era, never enjoyed attending games and left with a smile.

Completely different circumstances during the Gillis era. Apples and Oranges. Gillis was all about NHL success which he did. I can't understand how fans can throw out the most succesful erra of Canucks franchise. I can only assume they were not around during those years. We attaneded games expecting to win and generally did. We went to to game 7 of the SC finals. Did he draft well, no, and he accepted that openly was he a succesful GM, absolutely and was voted best GM in the league by his peers. He did hire Brackett, draft Horvat, sign NCAA prospect Tanev, trade for Markstrom when jammed in a corner by Mr & Mrs Lou.
