  1. As a rule Vcr fans cling, to the likes of Virtanen, Juolevi and Benning. The shock comes only when players are released or traded or fired. Seems like few evaluate and treat accordingly, they seem to dismiss what their own eyes tell them. I think that's peculiar
  2. None of us have any control of .... sort of like the score
  3. I'm shocked people still care about the score, there's bigger problems at hand
  4. IMO the NCAA offers the best devlpment it gives players first class staff to address all parts of the game. USJHL is a good league to send players to the NCAA plus the National program. The CHL spends a lot of time playinging which does suit some but there seems to be a groing trend towards the NCAA. THe NCAA develops prospects for many sports not just hockey so there s some cross over advantage. EU permits prospects the opportunity to play in an older age group, but saying that again some players thrive in the CHL ....Persson I hope
  5. For what it's worth the need an elder hockey statesman first and fore most. Give him the authority to review where we are. I can't recal who but there was mention of Mike Forde being consulted. I just hope FA has the sense to listen. This guy has been described as a king maker.
  6. Drafting is a group enterprise. For what it's worth I tend to think the stage is set by the GM. The first round pick includes the GM, subsequent picks are mostly the scouting staff and primarily the director of scouting. Brackett as promoted in 2015 things looked up. His organizational skills bore fruit, every one was on the same page, for once! He was well connected in both the USJHL and in the NCAA. Fortunatley, I believe for the organization his setting up a system will last for a long time and his protege ToddHarvey will benefit from the Brackett system. I listen to Harvey and he speaks Brackett language.
  7. A bad sign at the Chicago game even the activist declined to attend
  8. What agravates me is the post game interview when he keeps insisting the team played well. Apprently the concept that they're still losing despite his belief just doesn't sink in. It's tough to swallow that despite "playing well" the team is at the botom of the standing and more than likely out of the play-offs already, 'fess up Travis they're a lousy team
  9. We do not have a second, but have an extra third round pick (Winnipeg) according to Cap Friendly
  10. Maybe this is the answer to the maidens prayer Mike Forde | MCP Talent | Book Mike Forde Today
  11. Thks for that, I was looking at a site that showed OJ was playing for Charlotte. Florida, #1 in the league is stacked. I also see Gustaff Forsling is #7 on the team in points
  12. No I haven't gone to a game in Abby. It's a long drive and quite frankly I'm having difficulty attending Vcr games. My enthusiasim has been blunted
  13. To have any success ( financial viability ) they have to make a good impression from the begining. Once the novelty wares off .....!
  14. OJ cleared waivers and is currently playing for Charlotte in the AHL, 1 game 0G, 0A and 2 Pim's
  15. You're comparing skills. What is not mentioned is the loss of heart
  16. If you say so. It's truly amazing IMHO how fans for no particular reason rally around this player
  17. The bit I liked the best was Who I noticed has cleared waivers and has played his first game in the AHL since being traded. 1G, 0G, 0A
  18. thats because he's had theteam in cap hell (self created 0 That's because he's been in Cap Hell for his entire 8 years
  19. Good concept but FA is still chasing the play-offs as a present for his father Luigi. His father is 83 and wants a SC very much ..... I admire that to a degree byt a lot of people are suffering as a result
  20. Here's a few names Vancouver Canucks Have 5 Candidates to Replace Jim Benning if He is Fired (thehockeywriters.com)
  21. Good point IMO. If there's a ream mate close to you an oppoent is open
  22. I could be wrong but IMO we are following along in the Toronto model. They signed Taveres, long term for big money when in fact they should have been after a #1 defenceman. TO thought they could just out score the problems, they can't. Vcr signed Miller ( who I like a lot ) but they needed a quality D'man. OEL has been better than I expected but we need more defence than offence. You are not going to win many with the likes of Poolman, Burroughs, Hunt, or Schenn ( Schenn being the best of the bunch, he does bring some truculence ) They're mostly scraps from other teams. So far Dickenson is not a Malhotra clone. Highmore,Chiason, Dowling, Lammikko and Bailey are just fillers. Think of this, why would you sign a 3rd line centre who is less than adequate for face offs, it's one of his prime resonsibilities as a 3rd line centre. I have no reason to say this but I get the impression JB listens to Weisbrod too much and his Pro scouts are not up to snuff. Remember Mr Griffith Snr telling Harry Neal to fire Roger Nieisson and when he said he didn't want to do that, Mr Griffith said right now we're firing one man but that could just as easy be two men, JB fire Green and bring in a short term coach to right the ship IMHO. You might just delay your on departure
  23. Think of how bad Calgary was last season and then they hire Daryl Sutter ...... big change. Unfortunately FA didn't make a move during the summer and watched as other team made chnages they felt as needed
