  1. I tried to find Juolevi today, he's not listed on Floridas roster or the Charlotte Checkers ????
  2. That's harsh calling Juolevi chicken poop
  3. IMO drafting from EU or the NCAA is the best route for the Canucks. It allows them to get better and longer develpet in good leagues. So if in doubt at 3rd and later picks take aa NCAA or a EU propsect, problem solved
  4. To my mind every team is alotted the same number of picks in the draft. Some teams get mostly high picks ( Vcr for one ) because they suffered a lousy season. It's up to management what they do with the alotted pick. The future success depends on these decissions. So trading a draft pick is a management choice, we don't see any one worth picking or the guy e want will be gone, what ever, but the decission lands at their door. Apart of on ice skills scouts are supposed to check character and by all metrics Virtanen was a failure, ditto McCann and Juolevi it was of all things his skating, ..scouts failed to detect his skating flaws, absolutely unforvigable. I allways remember Alex Burrows summation of Virtanen the summer following his draft " Maybe he'll get it some day" that was a afilure just like Juolevi defiency with his skating. I recall Button ranked Virtanen in the 2nd round and no insult intended but I'd take his review over your,
  5. I thought about that but it's har,d to say a guy was a 1st round success when he's played for 3 teams in his short career, I'd maybe class him as a tweener for a 1st round pick, but that's just my view. But lets go with your view it gives us a 1st round success rate of 44%. IMHO Vcr is in desperation mode for the play-offs trading 2 succesive 1st round picks but that's neither here of there, we're looking at the record
  6. I liked what JB did signing both Burroughs and frankly Bowey. Bowey played mostly an error free game but limited. Burroughs seemed much the same exceept he pushed the play more IMO
  7. It might be OK during the season but come the play off it would be delusional to think the game officials will save them
  8. Here's the drafting record for Benning/Vcr All Draft Choices - Vancouver Canucks - All-time Drafts (nhl.com) 2014 Virtanen and McCann, 2nd round Demko 2015 Boeser...........................Traded 2016 Juolevi............................" " 2017 Pettersson.................... Lind/Gadjovich 2018 Hughes.........................Woo 2019 Podkolzyn.....................Hoglander 2020 Traded away.................Traded 2021 Traded away.................Klimovich That's nine first round picks during his era of which 3 have failed as 1st rounders and two slections have been traded away that gives us 3 quality selection plus Podkolzyn ( IMO still to be determined ) We could do the same for the second round. Three traded away, two failed, two winners ( Demo & Hoglander) two TBD Percentage wise that gives us a success rate of 33% in the first round and 25% in the second round. Draft stats show us the likelyhood of success in the draft is 1st round 65% and 25% in the second round.
  9. I hope so he's been in the NHL for 10 years, in other news Zak Kassian has been placed on IR/ Apparently he tried his luck wwith Gudbranson
  10. Mean while in other NHL news Kassian is placed on the IR list, looks better for EP & QH LOL. Apprently Kassian tried his luck with Gudbranson, bad career move IMO
  11. I doubt we can keep them all because frankly 5 of your list will need new contracts and a team just to stay in the Cap absolutley need quality ELC on the roster. That's my read but I will say this the SC is about now
  12. The draft picks given up under normal circumstances would likely make the grade after a couple of years so it'll be in likely 3 years before we feel the pain.
  13. I don't know, how many years is needed to rebuild a team to the degree they're annual contenders. This is JB's 8th season. You cn only use this excuse for so long, sure Gilliis went for the gusto but for thr most part he succeeded with 2 President Tropies plus Conference and division titles plus of course his peers voted him GM of the year and game 7 of the SC, not a bad resume. Henew a rebuild was needed it and started the process by trading Schneider for Horvat. After Horvat signing things took a dive. But most important .... I enjoyed going to Rogers Arena, we generally left the game with a win. Not so much for the last 7 years
  14. I'm always impressed by the mental strength of these kids. How they persevere is a testimant to their courage. away from home and friends lots of study and travel. It's important they keep their studies up and graduate, Clarkson is a good school
  15. Talking about toughness in general, to nights featured game will be the opening minutes of the Caps V's Rangers game. The Rangers have really brought in some muscle including Reeves after what Wilson did to Panarin last season. It's going to be old time hockey. When Rangers were caught short with Panarin getting worked over by the much bigger and crazy Tom Wilson, John Davidson and the GM Gorman (sp) were both fired. This is a new look Rangers tonight
  16. He can transfer at the end of the semester ( I believe to another Uni if they agree to carry his scholarship )
  17. IMO sort of discouraging for many. One of the exceptions is N'Eastern who Brackett had close ties. It's a tough road for student athletes so they best get a good education as very least
  18. It's not rocket science, any one that's had a thorough medical knows that blood work is part of the process. I have blood work done likely 4 times a year and then discuss it with my GP. If you listen you can learn. Heck they have to know if he has glucose problems ie pending diabetis amongst other things. I'd think a covid test for an athlete is not optional
  19. Not that I am in any way doubting Faber, but who is he and what is his hockey background ? I have no idea if he's a fan maybe a ex junior player or a scout for some organization. I'd like to know, any one out there that can fill me in with some detail
  20. Exactly the quality players on the roster were players that arrived as a finished product (almost ) Vcr did not truly develop those players. Now if they can develop a player such as Persson or Jurmo in to genuine NHL players that IMO would be developing a draft pick. So far Demko is the best example of develoment and maybe DiPietro will follow
  21. I'm not convinced that a thorough medical would have missed the sign, chnaces are blood work alone would have shown the problem
  22. Seems to be the case. Here's the question if the likes of maybe Downey doing just as well, does that show ineptitude by JB. Dowling is younger, cheaper and does not have Sutters long history of injuries. Not that I'm hyping Dowling, simply using him to point out there are younger and cheaper vets available
