  1. I'm hoping he turns out to be a modern day Malhotra, unfortunately his F/O stats are not the best but from what e're told he is a defence proud player
  2. I would have liked Halak over Holtby. We can hope for better results and a financial benefit to over last season
  3. Me too, for a guy that makes a living in the radio media he has been cursed with his voice. I choose to put that aside becuase he generally bring a fresh perspective to his reporting, not the same yaddah, yaddah, yaddah and piling on to gain popularity
  4. Why are you afraid of facts, why are you afraid of other opinions. I have no desire to be part of a flock. I believe I praise good point but can find fault with other aspects, is that so bad. I'd say I'm 50-50 i n praise and faults. I certainly don't live in a Bubble. I enjoy healthy discourse
  5. Don't play him in the exhibition games maybe if you think he might be vunerable ?? You know other teams are following the exhibition games closely, comparing our "B" list with their own "B" list
  6. Yeah tough call for the powers to be, or, until I heard it said the Canucks will allow full attendance on the basis of vaccination certificate. But even then there's a lot on unknowns which could result in chnages. Some won't have the required vaccination certificate, there choice but again it will effect other and the club too
  7. Plus of course they get free food and accomodation in their billets and don't they get a small stipend by the clubs ?
  8. I don't know frankly. One yhing i am watching for is the NCAA raiding the CHL. Prior to this they considered the CHL to be a Pro sport, that might chnage. We'll all just need to wait and see ho far some lawyer is likely to challenge the old ways
  9. Facts certainly must feature high in journalism. I'd think fair and balanced is not too uch to ask for. Frankly I have no time for cheerleading, soft soaping or following the flock
  10. Errrr, no, what we want are the facts so we may judge ourselves
  11. He's a professional jouranlist, not a paid cheerleader. He has contacts, he seeks the facts and that's good enough for me. However ...... some posters are estranged from the facts, which IMO just means they can't handle the truth which is truly sad and some thing they will eventually grow out of .... we hope
  12. IMO this is a huge loss for the Canucks Late Canucks scout Jonsson made big impact in short time with club | The Province
  13. The NCAA has just lost a case in court about the rights of players to market themselves. I tend to think there's going to be some major chnages in their control. This is aimed mostly for Football where biliions are made by universities each season. Michigan State has a full 109,000 seat arena and most of the big schools have the same, Notre Dame, U of Michigan and the likes of Alabama Crimson tide etc. All sorts of inducement, cars etc to sign.Parents paid off
  14. I think a wink and a nod with the parents and honour a invoice after he leaves collage or the skating coach invoices the Canuk again after he leaves collage would satisfy the NCAA ie no money chnagd hand while he was within NCAA rules
  15. What I saw of him in the WJC was very encouraging. He drives the game a lot of the time IMHO
  16. Agreed N'Eastern has agood reputation, however But the part of the article that stood out to me and it's not the first time was
  17. You're seeing shadows where there are none. I was genuinely surpised if either the player himself or the dveelopment team hasn't discussed this until now. Why would a guy wanting to make hockey his career not self examine, seems nuts to me
  18. Does it not surpise you when a leading prospect tell you he's never bothered with skating instruction ?? News for McDonough you can't rest on your NCAA laurels, your nextstep is the big one. Other than that I thought the article about overlooked develpment was very interesting, quotes from some heavy hitters in hockey circles
  19. You should stick to reporting politics for Fox Nothing intended other than a talking points. JB has appointed staff to manage the development program, that''s his job now it gets to the staff to perfom. The good news is McDonough is atleast taking skating seriously this summer. Let's see if it helps this season in N'Eastern. Years ago they used to see you can't make a play if you alway arrive too late
  20. Let's hope JB has the terms and salary all worked out in advance just waiting to a pre agreed Ferland LTI decalartion. I don't know when it has to be declared but I assume both EP & QH will none the less be at camp with private insurance
  21. I was midly shocked when I read McDonough had never taken skating tutoring ... it's all ne to me. This lead to think what the Vcr develpment gurus were thinking when decent prospect wesn't being encouraged to seek help with his one apprent weakness. Recently I read this article primarily about development. It's a good read ith input from Pros basically about development The Overlooked Importance of Player Development - The Hockey Think Tank
  22. Decent enough article re prospects :- Canucks Prospects Report: Podkolzin, Klimovich, Persson & More (thehockeywriters.com)
  23. RRomanov is going no where, Mtl know they got a future to 4 guy which is not the equivalent to OJ
  24. I quite enjoy wallstreet amigo mostly because we see the game/business through the same lens. I don't enjoy the cheerleaders or the sheep, I prefer to look and reach a decision based on what I see. Some times I'm wrong, that's inevitable. Some times what appears obvious is actually based on your own circumstances like the number of times over many years and season has simply been a repeat of earlier days or rosters. Some times you become impatient and overlook logic or facts. Like a few fans/poster I've been a fan for quite a long time and have seen the Jocelyn Guevremonts of the roster come and go. Most posters still jump the gun and decalre prospects the next star when the odds are firmly against such a thing.
