How long until we are competing with Vegas & Colorado?
Fred65 replied to Nucks89's topic in Canucks Talk
ie We'll be on par when they start floudering rather when we improve -
I could be wrong but being a RFA does not count. If he was injured on your watch there's an obligation to pay him until he's healthy. Other wise teams would simply jettison injured players
-
I believe you cannot end his contract until he's healthy onvce more, so he's on the payroll untill that time, although maybe there's compensation from Hockey Canada

Canucks Prospect Rewind: Linus Karlsson should have gotten into NHL games last season (canucksarmy.com)
-
Wow, too much time on some ones hands
-
Keep in mind after this next season he's an RFA
-
Well I don't here him getting calls for a GM's job, I wonder why? He's likely one and done. Think of the Cap mess and then think he fired a teriffic Capologist ( Gilman, now with TO ) which kind of compounds the problem. As much as I'd like to offer a little enncouragement to the man he set this franchise back likely 4 years ( the time required to sort out his mess ) and don't even talk about his ego was too big to keep Brackett

Did we foorget about Linus Karlsson However, Karlsson’s breakthrough season took place just last year after the Swedish centre registered 46 points in 52 games with Skellefteå AIK. Of those 46 points, 26 of them were goals, beating current Canuck star Elias Pettersson, who previously held the SHL record for goals in a season with 24 back in 2017-18. Karlsson also finished second in team scoring and ninth in league scoring, earning him the SHL’s Rookie of the Year accolades just four years after Pettersson secured the award himself. Based on his previous point totals, as well as his overall impressive Corsi percentage and shooting volume, it’s no surprise that Karlsson knows how to shoot the puck. In a past interview with PostMedia, Karlsson shared that he’s “just trying to score goals every game”, a feat that should hopefully transfer to the smaller, North American ice surface.

That's true but is that not a result of lack of confidence and develpment. A deer caught in the head lights you need to ask yourself why after a stellar season in the NCAA

I'm not sure if this has been posted already but a very interesting article IMO NHL Draft: Two players the Canucks must draft at 11th overall | The Province

As far as colour commentator he's one of the best as usual it was reconized by the Americans. He was on CKNW sports show for years always making insightful and fun comments. Just look at The between period commentator on HNC and they frequently sit out Bieska who is my a large margin the best guy on the panel. Why you might ask, only in PC Canada. Everyone has to be equal. In the USA it's you promote the best

So coach T called out the team "soft", who will be our team's enforcer then?
Fred65 replied to tan's topic in Canucks Talk
In the past our coaches have taken more of the turn the other cheek attitude, I suspect that philosophy will chnage under Tocchet. You have to play sensibly but nevr be intimidated IMO -
Yeah I liked Rafferty, maybe tried to do too much but the term develpment was foreign at that juncture of the team, still looking for pink elephant ( ready made player ) rather than going the develpoment route eg Forsling along with Rafferty. When i watch Brisebois he has develped IMO to a stage where he's a genuine #7 player for a very cheap cost. It took time and that's mostly free.

Watch the play-offs, there's a few guy who embrace tough play. Think of Bennet, think Tkachuk and then thers' Gudas riding shorgun. The fact is if there's a scrum and EVERY one is into it. I used to like Richards when he played here if there was a scrum he was always in the middle of it just giving face washes but the fact was every oppoent was given some physical attention. You have to use physicality as a tool and p!ss oppenets off IMO Vcr does none of these things. We need a Ripper, a Bieska, a Jovo, a Burrows, a Kesler -
Don't you think it's strange that these sort of skills seem to be bi-passed by "pro" coaches. This regimetation of who takes the draw is always strange to me. It should always, always be the guy who has the best chnace of winning the F/O rather than "well he's the centre" so waht a micro second after the F/O every ones back to their original spot Often draws and won by the wingers jumping in. I just don't understand. I have seen the odd coach use the F/O man as the guy who is on his strong ( backhand side ) but they're few and far between. Miller is one of a few players who's go to F/O is his fore hand
-
Let's hope they recognize he has a future and not do another Forsling on him

Lucic was offered a contract at the same time Vcr signed Ericksson. He wanted no part of Vcr. He has a certain recognition within the league but I tend to believe Vcr will be his last option -
I think you raise an interesting point. I had no idea he was drafted as a centre. We're currently either not satisfied with the readyness of Raty or other proospects. Beauvillier could be the next best option. One small point though I looked him up when he played Shawinigan and they had him listed as a LW. Maybe you havebetter infor than me

Draft picks unless they're in a top echelon take time. If you're signing EP he's likely not interested in waiting to build up the roster. Hronek is 24 he's taken the training wheels off and ready to go. When you think of draft picks think for a moment about the likes of Kratsov chosen 9th O/A or others who flounder. Draft picks do not = success every time. The name of the game is to win first and last
-
I have to agree. First Hronek is not chopped liver, I believe he's a quality RHD and remember RHD are like hens back teeth, there ain't many around. However as Button points out if they had kept the pick he would likely have no any impct for maybe 3 years. Now you're trying to resign Pettersson, he like all the others wants to win, is signing Hronek a pointer to EP and his agent that Vcr is like him wanting to win ASAP. If they think Vcr is not active enough does EP resign ? Just on merit alone I earnestly belive Hronek was a good aquasition and he's here now!! I might add that of all the scouting gurus I rank Button as one of the best. The question I would have been interested in asking Button is McWard or Johansson ranked as NHL players in his opinion. Now that would have thrown a lot of light on the Vcr future .... IMO

Vcr still have Persson RHD on their reserve list until 1st June 2024. I might add along with Jurmo, Truscott, Garbriesson, Dorrington. I was wondering about Truscott signing but no news so far. Vancouver Canucks Reserve List Players - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Don't you just trade Myers + $5m for a pick what ever that may be. His salary is then $1m per season. I recall money was included in the Gretzky trade
-
Here's the solution LOL You trade our 11th plus Leternakki (sp) for a top 5 pick and then trade Miller to help the Cap. You get a centre with you hign pick
-
Here's the thing. Mmanagement ( and fans alike ) are trying to improve the team not remain static. As PA siad in a press question I don't know about a raise for Bear. Those few words speak volumes
