Hard for us to move on from Anthony but we're glad that he is being re united with Noah in a good Canadian town line Edmonton. We're excited to bring back Virtanen. After losing him to Dallas in free agency 3 seasons ago his presence has truly been felt. Oh wait wrong Virtanen

He's just the worst... Not much else I can say

[Signing] Canucks sign Jayce Hawryluk
apollo replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Great pickup. Thanks Jimmy -
Ouch... Tag Bertuzzi with the dagger goal too... Gg @donut47 @Zfetch I'll always hate u for making me trade down that pick and not take Tag It's a sad day in the nation's capital...

LOL did JP Reyes steal the #1 job from Marky? Perhaps Pablo sensed that Marky was a defector Also holy bananas... Battle of the Bertuzzi's in round 1... Tag vs Tyler...

Myers was a top free agent. In fact pretty much every single hockey outlet had Myers as the #1 dman on the market. So yea you're just being ungrateful that Jim landed #1 dman on market and you try to hate on him... Yikes Source: (Sportsnet, hockeynews, it was unanimous... Myers was top dman and he chose van because of the city) https://www.tsn.ca/top-50-free-agents-bread-man-remains-at-large-at-no-1-1.1331108 5 year deal at 6 mill is a bargain for the towering defenseman... Miller... Again another player choosing here and turning down same deal in Edmonton, again iono y u being ungrateful... Miller didn't win a vezina but he was certainly world class his 3 years here. Holtby... He's not far removed from vezina and a cup... Elite goaltenders of his caliber don't suddenly disappear at age of 31 - he's gonna have a major bounce back year under Ian Clark so there's that... Look on the bright side of things man

The nation's capital gonna have to go streaking down the stretch if we want any whiff of the playoffs...

[Proposal] Eriksson+ for Colin Miller
apollo replied to Jayinblack's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Great proposal. Would love to see this go down. -
This has the be one of the worst posts I've seen... Top free agents are constantly flocking to Vancouver... This is the best city in the NHL by far and we've never had a shortage of talent coming in. Vezina winner holtby ring a bell? Vezina goalie Ryan Miller? Myers was top dman available last year other than EK65 who destroyed SJ with his extension and he wasn't a real UFA Toffoli Marky Tanev all would have took the same deal in Vancouver in a heart beat. Why? Because this city doesn't suck for raising a family and we have a better chance to win than mtl or Calgary. But you know what? Our GM decided we wanted to go a diff direction and didn't match those deals Not gonna waste my time further on this. What a terrible post (no offense)
-
Well said. Myers was pretty much the #1 Ufa dman available that year... Has a calder on his resume... And vancouver fans still find a way to complain about his terrific 5x6 contact than Jim gave him. Its a shame and frustrating how negative and pessimistic our fan base is

Cory Schneider on what it feels like to ink a new 2 year deal with the Nanaimo Predators "I'm very excited to spend the next two years here in Nanaimo... I love the province and having played here before its a very easy transition for my family. Tbh I prefer Nanaimo, less hustle and bustle and smaller city vibes. I feel like I can focus on the mental side of my game best here. I must say I'm absolutely in love with our jerseys as well. As everyone knows there's goats on the roof in Nanaimo... And we've incorporated it with the iconic orcas that roam our region"
-
I agree with what you're saying and I've been a supporter of Loui hoping he'd turn a new leaf... but it's been 4 years of chances that he's had. I don't think it would negatively impact future UFA's coming here if we waive and AHL Loui year 5 of 6... Had we done it earlier then yes definitely wouldn't look good ( but i believe he had full NMC then anyways)

My least favorite part is definitely the overpriced homes... As I mentioned I'm a renter myself and always frustrated at how over priced this market is... If you're smart though, u can find good bang for your buck... Just have to be ok with living in an older building and renting Lack lusture culture I can't agree with u on at all though. The city is so diverse and has people from all over the world. You can find different cultures in each neighborhood. The beauty of it is that you can choose to stay away from certain spots if those aren't what you like. Italian neighbourhoods, Asian, Indian, etc and plenty of good white people too. Tbh if I had to say which BC city are friendliest I'd probably say the ones from Kelowna... For the most part a white town Yea rush hour traffic isn't good in van. It's best not to be driving during rush hour, but otherwise I've never had any issues getting around. You get this with every big city, Toronto LA worse imo. I used to commute about 2 hours each way, North shore to Richmond for about 8 years. Definitely not fun but it's up to you at end of the day to make choices about driving less And your final point... Rainfall... We moved here in 1998, it used to rain A LOT... But past few years... I'm not sure if it's due to global warming or not, the weather is perfect here, so many sunny days and rain barely lasts long when it comes. It's definitely got the best climate in Canada if u ask me

I've never been to Montreal, would love to visit. Good Canadian town. I'm sure it would be a fun weekend trip been to NY TO and LA... none of these destinations are remotely the paradise vancouver is. Especially if you want to raise kids and avoid an imminent US Civil War JT Miller and schmidt both Americans have both said back to back years that this is their fav spot... Nate even said you can ask braden "I've always said vancouver is my fav" This city has everything you could ask for with impeccable mountains hikes lakes all at your finger tips. Not to mention safest place on earth. There's a reason every single province and every since state in the US have seen a drop in real estate prices when vancouver still soars during a pandemic (much to my dismay) Yea no thanks to snow and no thanks to sweaty 24/7 weather As much as I dislike the price of housing here (still rent a 1 bedroom myself) but it's not hard to c that vancouver is the pinnacle of North America in every single way.

[Signing] Sharks sign Patrick Marleau

Given the Canucks are winning the cup next year, I just don't see how he could be a fit here -
Time to ship him out to Ottawa for markstrom.

[Signing] Islanders sign Cory Schneider
apollo replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'll prob draft him in next seasons fantasy drafts if I can get him late enough He's not gonna have much pressure now that his big deal was bought out. He's cashed in big during his career and now he'll be able to relax and plays his best on a contender with a secondary role. Like he was here... Very capable of standing on his head. Great signing by Lou imo. Prob low AAV too. -
It was a bad omen when we traded away Troy Stecher... Shortly after his time with the Canucks ended. Perhaps this can serve as a good omen and Toff will remain a Canuck. Getttiirrrdun Jimbo Oh thx Hoff for being a gladiator for us the past 9 seasons

Could this trade be... Any Wilder?!

[Signing] Flames sign Christopher Tanev
apollo replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
At the right AAV it won't be bad news lol -
If only I had 10 bucks every time Monty over charged me for a Canuck player... Well in this case a traitor that has abandoned the city haha
