  1. The 24 A's was a good starting point. Gotta work on that +/-, though. For those who say that stat is overrated, I point to Cam Fowler. His was awful up until 2 seasons ago. He's regressed since then, but he's still a more complete player capable of being responsible in his own zone. If only I were as excited about Tanev's ability on offence as I am about Hutton's.
  2. Stuck with him at this point, I guess. Keep waiting for him to flash back to that 2010-2011 form. But, it's clear by now he's no Victor Hedman. Needs to be paired with an upgrade from Tanev, though, in order to be considered a true #1 defenceman.
  3. Looking forward to seeing him paired with Gudbranson next season.
  4. Sorry, but, I still don't see the guy as a legitimate top-pairing or even top-4 defenceman at all. Wouldn't be heartbroken if he were the centerpiece to acquire Hamonic.
  5. That's still a mediocre/undeveloped group that doesn't exactly scream "playoffs" next season. I'd breakup that 1st pairing, but, I'm thinking my following suggestion(s) might cause one of the mods to move my reply to another category. That said, I hope JB doesn't bother with Hamhuis.
  6. I think Pedan could be that "real nice" bottom-8 guy right now. Unfortunately for him, though, JB seems to be in Tryamkin's corner. Neither one belong in the top-4 next season. But, Sbisa does...with the right puck-moving offensive partner who shoots from the right side, that is. I wouldn't think there'd be a huge market for him via trade anyway.
  7. It's Miller. Barring injury, of course. No ones going to trade for the guy anyway. He can still be a solid net minder when healthy, but, JB REALLY needs to upgrade at least half of the top-4 defenceman in front of him for him to be useful. The organisation has other options at backup besides Markstrom, except for Demko, who hopefully will get a full season as the starter for a playoff team in Utica.
  8. If the Canucks carry 8 defenceman, hopefully it'll be 4 lefties and 4 righties. If so, kinda looks like Pedan might be odd man out. Assuming Tryamkin pans out in camp. Hope to see him paired with Biega in the bottom-4.
  9. Really, only Lu belongs on that list. Jagr's been killing it with consistency for years prior to signing with Florida. And, Mitchell rejuvenated his career in L.A. after being scrap heaped in Vancouver.
  10. They're certainly judged differently by the Vancouver media with regards to who does and does not deserve to have their number hanging from the Rog rafters in retirement. I'm still half-steamed at certain mouthpieces at TSN 1040 who've determined he's not worthy because he never won an individual award. Really? His name dominates the franchise all-time records at the position, but, THAT'S the deciding factor?
  11. Still occasionally miffed at Blake Price and certain others at 1040 when I think back to last season and their claiming Luongo isn't worthy of his number being retired. But, who's atop the franchise leader board at that position in W's, GAA (Sorry, but Schneider played in only 98 games), SV % and SO's, though, hmm? No disrespect to McLean --- ROH-worthy for sure --- but, the 1040 argument that Luongo isn't worthy of having his number in the rafters because he wasn't here as long as Kirk, didn't play as many games, and never won an individual award is just stupid. Isn't it MORE impressive what Lu accomplished considering the amount of time he was here by comparison?
  12. I'm still not convinced he was any less impressive during his cup of coffee under Torts than Kenins was during his last season under Willie. Was hoping they'd both have an opportunity to battle in camp for that 4th line LW spot rather than acquiring Prust.
  13. But, Kalamazoo is a Blue Jackets affiliate.
  14. Now that Shero's out there, I'm REALLY hoping Benning doesn't come here. I guess I'm just really having a difficult time understanding the thinking behind the Canucks hiring an assistant GM from another club as the new GM if the current Canucks assistant GM is neither fired nor promoted. And, did I mention that Ray Shero is available now? If one of the knocks on him and his tenure in Pittsburgh is that he focused too much on acquiring/developing top-6 talent, then, that's a problem I'd love for the Canucks to have! Sorry, Canuck fans, but, Zack Kassian is NOT top-6 talent. We can go round and round with the topic of discussion, especially after the fact, but, regarding top-6 talent, the 2013-2014 Vancouver Canucks were deficient from day 1. I'd have MUCH more faith in Shero fixing that than I would in Benning.
  15. If the organisation believes Alex Edler still needs to be "groomed" at age 28, then perhaps it's time for both sides to consider other options.
  16. I don't normally pay to much mind to player salaries, but, if the Habs don't pay Subban what the Kings paid Doughty, then something's wrong. No way Phaneuf belongs at the same pay grade as the other 2 and no way should Subban be making less than Phaneuf after heh signs his new contract.
  17. I disagree. AV inherited a club that was "prepped" for lack of a better word, by John's heavy-handed, in your face style. So, of course, AV's laid-back style will be effective and a welcomed change since the boys don't need to be lead around by the nose and told what to do. AV takes less of a risk in leaving the room to the players in New York than he did in Vancouver since he left the Canucks room more than a little bit directionless and soft. Of course, some of that falls on Gills as well. The Rangers may have tuned John out, but, I seriously doubt they completely and totally disregarded everything he and his staff taught them.
  18. I hate to compare AV and Torts, but, I do think it's worth saying that AV clearly benefited from inheriting a club coached by John Tortorella much more than John benefited from taking over a club coached by AV.
  19. Look, I appreciate and respect Linden (as a player) as much as anyone does. But, what exactly did he do to demonstrate that he's among "the best talent" as an executive, particularly in 2010-2011? Are you saying Linden should've been in the GM's seat the last 6 years? I hope #16 makes the right moves in his new post, but, surely you recognize a PR move when you see one, no? I just hope he's not fool enough to install himself as GM.
  20. That's because he hasn't had to do any heavy lifting yet. Wait until they interview him again this summer.
  21. Not that I want Kesler gone, but, if MG moves him to Philly, Wayne Simmonds had better be coming the other way. The Sedins are still here and likely aren't going anywhere. Adding Nighttrain Simmonds would finally end all the nonsensical "put-Kassian-with-the-twins" talk on CDC. Hopefully.
  22. I glanced at an article this morning (on Yahoo! Sports?) that he was apparently stuck in an elevator at the time.
  23. Agreed. I have an extremely difficult time "cheering" for Doughty, but, if he puts points on the board for Team Canada, THAT'S something I can get behind, regardless who does it.
  24. So, while Doughty is encouraged to be "creative" and lauded for it, with Subban it's "theatrics"? Ah, I get it. I think if Subban were really as much of a question mark as you suggest that Yzerman would've simply brought back Dan Boyle from 2010 if "solid, responsible guys able to defend well and move the puck" are what they're looking for, particularly from the right side.
  25. Really, Pierre? How do you know that? Hamhuis had the least ice time amongst D-men in the first game, didn't he? What you said about Subban could also apply just as easily to the guy from Smithers.
