Lots of games on tonight. TBL vs PIT starting right now. Definitely game of the night. A must watch . -
Leafs will make the playoffs. No doubt. 4th best record. 19-9-3 in the NHLsince Keefe took over as coach. Slow start 9-10-4 under Babs before they fired him. Now that they have a legit back up goalie they'll be even better. Hutch was 4-9-1 this season. Horrible goal tending. They'll be at minimum .500 and likely better with their backup being Campbell.

Moore is nothing close to Clifford. Like I said in earlier post Clifford has more playoff games than Moore has total NHL games. And Clifford has 2 cup rings. He was a throw in for cap purposes and a player had to go back. LA eating 50% of Clifford contract. Leafs have a younger better Timashov to replace Moore who is 24yrs old only 51 career games. Clifford is a huge upgrade. 3rd for Clifford is very fair. Contract year so he'll be playing his best hockey. Big, tough, abrasive, fast skater. Defensively responsible and yes he does PK. Exactly what Leafs need.

Did you watch Leafs vs NYR last night. Look at that goal Hutch allowed. An AHL goalie shouldn't allow that goal. If that was Campbell no way he allows that goal. Leafs had chance to win if they had Campbell instead of Hutch. Look at Doughty's numbers this year. They are no where near where they would be if he was on a good team. When a team sucks all player's numbers suffer. His numbers will be better on Leafs. At the very least he'll be a good backup and help Leafs win a few more games than Hutch would. 3rd rounder is nothing. Unlikely to turn out to be a full time backup like Campbell with a 3rd. 70% chance a 3rd doesn't even make the NHL. He's signed 2 more years after this at 1.65 mill per. Can't get much better. Last year 31 games 2.29 gaa .929sv% .. Time will tell. Let's revisit this thread at end of season. Great pickup for a cheap price imo. If they wanted the Russian kid Georgiev from NYR it would have cost Kapanen. He doesn't have much better numbers. But perhaps projected to be better in a few yrs.

This years pick is from CBJ . Currently 3rd in Metro. 8-2-1 last 10. Torts will be up for Jack Adams. Leafs are 19-9-3 in last 31 under Keefe. 4th best in NHL in that span. Their #1 dman out LTIR and #1 goalie has missed few games with injury. Hutch sucked so bad or they would likely have 3 more wins this year including last night vs NYR. They'll make the playoffs. Let's see what happens next season when it's Leafs 3rd that goes to LA. That's a year and half away. But with those young stars another year older i dont see them missing playoffs next few years.

Clifford has 2 Stanley Cups. He's played more playoff games than Moore has played regular season NHL games. He's a solid defensive forward plays an abrasive game. Moore is a warm body going to LA for roster and cap purposes. A throw in with zero value. LA needed a player back and the cap needed to balance out. With Moore out Hutch sent to AHL and LA eating 50% of Clifford's salary the cap does not change at all for Leafs. Exact same dollars out as coming in. Next year is a long ways away. We'll see what happens with their cap in summer..Trades at the draft, UFAs, rookies etc. a lot will change. Just like for the Canucks. TML were 9-10-3 with Babcock. They are 19-9-3 under Keefe. One of best records in NHL over that span. Their #1 goalie is injured and Hutch sucked. As far as defense. Leafs have allowed 10 more goals than LA with their #1 Dman out long term and #1 goalie injured . At the same time they've scored 61 more goals than LA. So +51 in goals difference vs LA. Last season Campbell went 31 games 2.28 gaa .928 sv%... LA sucked so bad this year its no surprise his numbers went down. I expect him to play well on a competitive team in Totonto. Solid trade. A solid backup goalie and a very good abrasive defensively responsible 2 time Cup Champ going into UFA. He's motivated to play his best hockey as he's looking to cash in on next contract. For a couple of 3rd rounders. Odds are 70% of 3rd rounders never play in NHL and these will be both late 3rd rounders. So even less odds for them. Good trade. I'll leave it there. We can come back discuss it at end of regular season if you wish.

Thats right. Toronto has 2nd most goals in league LA has 2nd least GF TML 194 LA 133 GA TML 181 LA 171 GF + 61 goals for Leafs. GA only 10 goal difference. That's why i say Campbell will get goal support in Toronto and put up more wins. He'll play a much better game in Toronto and his record will show.
-
Not at all. Its fair value. LA retaines 50% Clifford's salary. Hes a rugged winger has a Stanley Cup ring and exactly what the Leafs need. Cambell is a very good backup. He hasn't had a great year because LA sucks and he had no goal support in LA. He'll get that in spades in TML. Last year 31 games 2.29 GSA .928 SV% Those are great numbers. Can't get much better than that. And he's signed to a very good contract. Only 1.65 mill for 3 seasons. Great trade very fair value.

Since OV been in NHL there have been 22 50 goal players. That's about 1.5 per year. Out of those 8 times it was OV with 50. Four times OV was only one to score 50 goals. OV has 8 and by end of season wll have 9 50 goal seasons During Gretzky's career there were on average 7.5 50 goal players per season. One season there were 10 50 goal players. Gretzky has 9 50 goal season. OV will tie him soon and likely get atleast one more 50 goal season for top spot with 10. I watched Gretzky play at the old PNE Colosseum and Rogers Place. I flew to Toronto to watch Gretzky play his last game in Canada at the old Maple Leafs Garden. It was his 9th or 10th last game of his career. A young Dan Cloutier was in net for the Rangers. Got shelled for like 6 or 7 goals. I love Gretzky. But OV is the greatest goal scorer in history allready. Just look at the goalie's size and their skill and equipment vs back then. OV is simply the greatest.

GOAT 6'3 235 lbs. 3rd in NHL in hits since he's been in league 3000+ hits. Only Dustin Brown and Clutterbuck have more hits. OV will pass them both and be #1 before he retires. Only 17 games missed due to injury in 15 seasons.... Amazing..... especially considering how physical he plays. No sign of slowing down. He'll surely score 900+ before he retires.

I dont know how many leafs games you've watched this season but my guess is not more than 2 or 3. I watch out of market games every day. I have nhl center ice. The player you are describing is not Nylander. This is what John Tavares and Leafs coach Keefe said about Nylander couple of days ago. https://torontosun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs/tavares-up-close-look-at-nylander-has-leafs-captain-impressed “He has been really good,” Keefe said of Nylander’s consistency. “Whether it’s him just finding his own game and being comfortable or the chemistry there with the presence of John on this line. His presence on the power play, he has got a lot more comfortable with his role. All those sort of things seem to be falling into place and he has been excellent.” People on CDC like to bash on the leafs and its all good. But lets stay within reason. -

He's playing great. One of their best players. PHWA named him mid season comeback player of the year. 25 goals 48 Pts 53 games He had a bad game before xmas got benched and has been lights out ever since. -

@ShawnAntoski Crosby cap hit is 8.7 not 8.3. Any ways its a Luongo like contract. 12 yrs front loaded. 12 mill per year first few years 3 mill last 3 seasons. Only 50% variance allowed and 8 yrs max with current CBA. So that type of contract will be impossible With Mackinnon if he takes less, with todays numbers and cap instead of asking for 12.5 mill he would take 12 if he leaves money on table. He's not going to take millions less per year. Players say a lot of things in media. We'll see in 4 seasons. He's still signed for another 3 years after this. Hell likely sign for 15 mill + if cap keeps going up. -

Not only greatest goal scorer OV is also one of the most physical players in history. Since he came into NHL OV has 3rd most hits in entire NHL.. OV has 3000 hits only Dustin Brown and Clutterbuck have more since OV been in NHL. He's a 6'3 235 lbs scoring and hitting machine. Even after being so physical OV has only missed 17 games out of 1170 with injury. Simply Amazing. -

OV is a beast. Best player in league since he came to NHL. Greatest goal scorer in history. So glad he won the cup. Hes got a good chance to win 1 or 2 more. Team is top tier contender and will remain a contender for next 3 years. I think he'll hit 900+ goals. Only one in history to hit the 900 mark. -
Get the heck out of here man. Leave me alone. Go bug someone else.
