  1. Why would it be so bad. COL just won the Cup with Kadri Nichushkin Burakovski all in last year contract and UFA to be..all 3 huge part if the Avs. why would it be so bad for Canucks locker room. He's still signed to the year and getting paid. This type of thinking is just over reaction and over thinking a non issue.. Malkin has won everything a player could win. Letang as well. Both of them just played out their final year as well. Why is it so different for Canucks players.
  2. Boeser is no where close to Nichushkin. This guy is a 200 ft monster with size speed skill and a high rev motor. The pts are just the icing on the cake. The guy is a true beast all over the ice. Can't compare the two players.
  3. Horvat doesn't deserve more than Nichushkin. Besides Horvat being a C Nichushkin is the better player. Because Horvat is a C I think Horvat is worth same money and term. If both were wings Nichushkin is the better player.. so being C makes Horvats value same as Nichushkin..
  4. Awesome player. Top tier 2 way player with size and hustle. After 5 years salary drops to 4.8 mill for final 3 seasons. He'll be tradeable at that time.. The guy hustles and back checks with the best of them. Top 20 defensive forward in the league and puts up goals and points. Nichushkin was COL number one target to re sign out of their UFAs. Not surprised at all Sakic prioritized Nichushkin to get re signed and remain an Avalanche player.. I made a post about it earlier this morning. Avs had to retain this guy.
  5. COL can't keep every one from the Cup winning team. They would love to keep him but can't keep them all. 20g 60pts he'll get 5 plus million long term. Kadri Nichushkin Burakovski are ufa Lekhonen (rfa) Nichushkin has to be top priority to re sign for Avs. Top 20 two way player in the league, cant let him go. Lehkonen will get a raise. Kadri will be gone he'll make too much for Avs to be able to keep him. Johnson on D is ufa he'll need to be replaced.. They have Mackinnon and Byram up for new contracts next summer so need to plan for them.
  6. I wouldn't add Podz. No way. He's going to be on this team if we ever win a cup. You don't trade a player like him. I'd trade Boeser before I trade podz. Get what you can for Miller and trade Boeser for a RHD if can't get that player for Miller.
  7. We can get that similar type return next tdl. Or something very close. If we look like a 100 pts team that can win a cpl rounds then why trade him. Not like we're getting a game changer back that would change the fortunes of the franchise.
  8. That's what I said earlier. We can't have a guy like D'Angelo because of the market were in. But that type of thinking needs to change if we want to become a winning franchise. Gotta take risks and can't just have all mamas boys
  9. Dach is going to be a stud top 2C for MTL. They got him cheap. He's not a bust. Just got rushed and needs some time to catchup now. Like the Sedins or Horvat. He's going to be known as the steal in this draft day looking back in a few yrs.
  10. I doubt that. This last tdl Miller gad another year kept on contract. Next summer he walks. But if this team is a solid team headed to playoffs looking to do some damage why trade him.. We'd be trading away a guy like Rathbone and picks to upgrade to get a guy like Miller of we wanted to win a cpl rounds. Why not just keep him. See what this team could do. That's IF we're a top 3 or 4 team in conference. We added Kuz and looks like we'll add some speed and upgrade D before the season starts. I think we'll be pretty good under BB and be a 100 point team if Miller is still here. Miller isn't getting us something like COL got for Duchesne. We're not getting a unprotected 1st rounder and a stud Dman like Byram in Miller return. It'll be a mid to late 1st.
  11. I completely agree that we aren't far enough along to let him walk for nothing. But we don't know yet how we will look next season with EP coming in without missing training camp. With Boeser healthy. With Hughes and all other young core guys a year older and entering a new phase closer to prime.. It all depends on where we are at tdl. If we are looking like we did under coach BB like we did since he took over last season and are a sure fire playoff team looking like they can go a cpl rounds I would let it ride. It will attract UFAs to us at reasonable prices and not have to over pay at next year's free agency time. And Horvat has made comments where he isn't interested in another long term rebuild. It'll help re signing him to a more team friendly contract. Players need that playoff experience and that confidence in the team. EP was a beast in the bubble. Our young kids are about to enter the beginnings of their prime. They need another run like they had in the bubble. It'll help when we are really ready to be legitimate contenders. CGY went two rounds and they kept Johnny hockey with a good chance he leaves as UFA. If we're looking good we have to keep Miller for the playoffs. A mid to late 1st rounder is a hit or miss. Less than 50% chance the player will play 300 career NHL games. We'd get a solid prospect and a middle 6 forward plus a mid to late 1st rounder. That's not going to set this team up for long term. We need a lot more than that.. What this mgmt team needs to do is be more pro active. I said in other posts we missed huge on Kerby Dach. We should have been all over that trade but instead just spent the entire time looking at moving Miller or perhaps Myers and getting that young RHD back.. We should have offered 15th plus Hogz for Dach. 21 yr old 6'4 C with potential to be a top tier player on this team in 3 or 4 years. Thats the kind of moves that will build us into a long term winner. If we're looking for a solid return for Miller JR and Alvin have to think beyond the direct return for Miller, they need to think about flipping the Miller return to get what they really need from a 3rd team... Thay could have used part of the return towards acquiring Dach. That type of deal isn't available often. It's a very rare occasion to have a 21 yr old kid like him available for such a low price. 13th and 66th picks. Thats a trade this mgnt team should have jumped thru hoops to get done. They should have traded Miller and used the 1st from that trade towards Dach. Then wait until something comes available for the other pressing need which is young top 4 RHD. We're not getting a top tier young RHD in return for Miller. We'll get a good young D but the time to trade him was draft day and the deal to make was using the 1st and adding Hogz for Dach.. Essentially turning Miller into a 6'4 21 yr old Right Hand C with potential to becoming a star in 3 or 4 yrs. Then maybe trade something else to get that RHD.. We can't just plan on getting it all done thru one trade. If we have a great deal available like a Scneider from NYR ofcourse you pull the trigger at tdl or any time before that. But I just don't think Miller gets us that great of a return. We have set our expectations too high imo. We need to be more realistic. I think we missed the chance and that was draft day.. when this mgmt knew Dach was available for that cheap of a price they should have moved Miller and flipped part of the return for Dach. Not getting top value for Miller would have made up by getting Dach with the 1st from his trade. Plus we'd have a solid young prospect and a middle 6 forward. That's the package he's worth. Not a top tier stud RHD .. just a solid young sure fire NHLer. B+ prospect. I think mgmt got tunnel vision and just stuck to Miller trade and what they wanted instead of thinking about flipping what they get and involving a 3rd team.. MTL hit it out of the park with their thinking.. like chess and planned 3 moves down not just 1 move checkers. To get that RHD D'Angelo went for 2nd 3rd 4th . We have to be willing to take on a player like that even though there are some negatives that come along with him.. can't be looking for the perfect citizen or perfect team mate in every player. It's OK to have a cpl bad apples. Had we traded Miller's and used the picks and added a pick or two plus a guy like Hogz for Dach and D'Angelo this off-season would have been a huge success already. If we're a top 3 or 4 team in conference and looking solid at tdl I keep Miller. If we're bubble team then sell Miller and everything else we can at tdl except for the young core players. I was super upset when we lost some guys under JB to UFA and got nothing at tdl. But we were in different cycle at the beginning of a long rebuild. Now we have lots of young core guys who need some additions. Just hope this mgmt team gets more creative very soon. Or it's going to be another long meat and potatoes type build leading to nowhere.
  12. Canucks should have been all over this trade to try get Dach. Should have offered 15th overall and Höglander. Big body 6'4 21 year old RHC. We desperately need a guy like him. Play him at 3C and PK and double shift in top 6 a few shifts per game. Let him develop into a guy like Philip Danault. EP Horvat Dach down the middle. Sick C depth. Oh my... what could have been. He was rushed in to the NHL by Chicago. They should have left him in the minors just for 1 solid season of development. On a team like the Canucks in their cycle he'd develop so nicely. I would have been ecstatic and do 15th OA plus Höglander without a second thought. Acquiring Dach would have set this team up wonderfully longterm. You don't get many chances to get this type of young player. Especially a C with his body size and ability at the price he went for... This is one that this new management team missed big time. Huge miss imo. Should have been all over it.. ohh my ... what could have been..
  13. I don't agree. He can play the season and be motivated to repeat the best season of his career by far. He's looking for a big money 7 or 8 year contract and he'll be at his best all season long to get it. He can be traded at tdl or if we look like a solid playoff bound team that can win a cpl rounds keep him and let the young core get some confidence and playoff games moving forward. He's worth a mid 1st round a solid prospect and a middle 6 forward in trade anything more is unrealistic. We'll get that at tdl if we chose to trade him then. If we can get a young stud RHD like Schneider out of NYR trade him but I don't see that happening.
  14. Not getting Dobson in Miller trade. Dobson is developing into an elite top pair dman. 22 yr old 50 pts 6'4 RHD he's looking at 8 mill plus longterm deal. It's like us trading Quinn Hughes. What would we want. I'd take Dobson for Quinn Hughes straight up.
  15. Seems like Miller wants to go ufa and sign with a team of his choosing. Reports suggest canucks didn't give nyi permission to talk to Miller re contract extension hence the stalled trade. I think he stays a Canuck for the start of regular season and depending on where we are at the tdl he gets traded then or plays out the contract as a Canuck and walks as ufa. If we look good and are a legit playoff team with a chance to win a couple of rounds he stays to see what this team can do in the post season. If a bubble playoff team he gets traded at tdl for a 1st and a good prospect.
  16. Nichushkin is the guy you want if signing big money ufa forward. Trade Myers Pearson and Miller. Get some younger cheaper D for Miller and use the 9 mill from Myers Pearson to sign a 3C and another decent Dman. Upgrading D is priority. Kuz is our forward addition this off-season.
  17. Draisaitl is top 5 player in the league. That's a big ask. Not too often a player like him comes along. But Slaf has the tools and the body to be a true powerforward. I think if he can get close to a Rick Nash type power forward mtl would be ecstatic.
  18. Malkin won't sign in cgy. He'll re sign in Pitt or go to nyr or LA Only team in Canada hed go to is Mtl if they were in a different cycle in their rebuild.
  19. Rfa 24 yrs old. He's club controlled. 42goals 104pts power forward. No way you trade a guy like that even for 1st overall this draft plus a another big add. You don't find guys like him very often.
  20. I agree. Podkolzin is not for trade if I was to decide. This is the player we will win a cup with. You don't trade a guy like Podkolzin. But the ask for Barzal will include Podkolzin.. I don't see that trade happening.
  21. NYI not NJ What would you add. Podkolzin and a 2nd plus Miller? 25 year old Barzal rfa after 1 year vs Miller 29 yrs old UFA after 1 year. You better add a lot to get Barzal out of Lou Lamoriello. Lamo is no fool. He'd be an idiot to trade away a star like Barzal just hitting his prime.
  22. Doesn't matter what the official job title is. JR will give the final go ahead for any Miller trade..JR just won't be doing the day to day leg work talking to all the other teams regarding trades. Alvin will bring the proposal for discussion to JR and he will have the final say.
  23. Pens signed Letang to this contract just to keep the team relevant while Crosby still playing. No other reason.. They won't be cup contenders but will be playoff team for next cpl yrs before Sid retires.. can't have pens be bottom feeder to end Crosbys career.
