Makes sense. Not straight up. Leafs add but how.much depends on of Trouba agrees to extension as part of trade. WPG needs a C. They tried to re sign Stastny but he left for Vegas. Hayes is not staying either, his rights were just moved. Kadri has a great contract and he's a good player. Leafs need RD especially with Zaitsev out the door. If Trouba agrees to extension Leafs add a nicer piece. If as is then less add by leafs.

[Rumor] Panarin Interested in Vancouver
WHL rocks replied to SuitnTie's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We are probably the last team in the league who should be worried about having too many top 6 forwards. We are severely short right now and need help badly. 2 top 6 forwards are needed. I dont even wanna get into D. In 3 to 5 years IF one of those guys are ready to be top 6 we'll figure it out. Virtanen and OJ not being held back by anyone to take top 6 or top 4 roles. Trade a piece for help elsewhere IF that time ever comes.. -
[Rumor] Panarin Interested in Vancouver
WHL rocks replied to SuitnTie's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Pearson goes with Horvat. Lievo to 3rd or 4th line. I would try Lee EP Boeser Panarin Bo Pearson. Horvat Pearson need a skilled winger on their line. EP Boeser need a little mustard on their line. Unlikely we can sign both Panarin and Lee. Even one of them would be good. -
So was LE, free UFA. Doesn't mean they were good decisions. You can add Schaller to that as well. Sutter overpaid as well. Multiple bad contracts just can't happen if a team wants to compete. Point is in the cap era teams need a shrewd business executive and a good roster builder to get us to next level.. 500k here 1mill there adds up over 20 plus players on a NHL team. It can give the team the ability to afford another top 6 forward. Could be the difference between a deep run and first round exit when this team starts making playoffs. In the salary cap era managing salaries and being able to get cap friendly long term deals is right at top of the list when it comes to building a competitive team

[Speculation] Canucks all in for Jason Zucker
WHL rocks replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For me JB hasn't shown the ability to be a very good roster builder. There are a lot of players we would like to move out. Lots of overpaid players as well. He has had 5 years and has to own it now. This is his roster. We have 4 great young kids. I like Pearsson as well. I think Aqua brings in a new GM next summer..someone who can build a roster around these good young core players. JB did as well a he could but I don't see him being here very much longer. In Canada GMs tenure last around 4 years average.. he's had 5 and going into 6th. I think a chamge is coming unless Canucks make the playoffs. And that is a very tough thing as it looks right now.. . -
[Rumour] Maple Leafs shopping Nikita Zaitsev
WHL rocks replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think maybe leafs want a bit more.. Maybe they do it if we take their 3rd instead of 2nd. But something in that framework..maybe eat a mill on Tanev's contract as well. Tanev + 2nd (40th) Zaitsev Kapanen + 3rd (84th) -

I don't see Jets trading him. He can request what ever he wants.. Trouba tried this 3 years ago he's still there. WPG can't start trading kids when ever they request to be traded Can't set that precedence or they'll all want out. Nothing's going to happen unless he becomes UFA in a few years or Jets get an offer they can't refuse..

[Speculation] Canucks all in for Jason Zucker

Zucker is a heck of a player. He'll get 30+ with EP. Drives play. Great possession player finds open ice gets to front of net. He's exactly what this team needs. MIN has the 12th overall. Maybe they flip picks as part of package. Virtanen 10th Hutton for Zucker plus 12th. I don't want to give up on Virtanen. But for Benning going into last year of his contract he's under pressure to make playoffs. Zucker in top 6 helps a lot towards making playoffs. -
There are reports JB has made multiple trade offeres for Zucker. MIN has the 12th overall. Maybe they flip picks as part of package. Virtanen 10th Hutton for Zucker plus 12th. Then take Newhook at 12th. "According to Mike Halford at TSN 1040, the Canucks are very interested in Zucker. “I won’t say who it is, but it’s a pretty decent source, enough that I trust that I’ll go live on the air with this,” said Halford. “Quote: ‘Mike, I’m hearing that Vancouver is all over Jason Zucker. There are multiple trade offers on the table"

Of course he doesn't have a floor of Parayko. He'd be 1st overall if that was a certainty. I think if JB decides to trade down a few spots he might take Seider. Who knows it's all guesswork. But he's an intriguing prospect not doubt. ..
-
That new guy on the boards. Argues with everyone but knows a thing or two about hockey. So he was comparing Seider to floor Parayko. So I started reading and watching everything I can on Seider. I like this kid. I think we need a kid like Seider on this team sooner or later. Since he's a Dman I think better early. Get him developing. I figure Canucks trade down. They take Seider or Newhook who ever is available at 15 to 20.

That was Scott Walker saying that.. and he's already working for the Canucks as director of player development. Wonder if that was a conversation about someone already in the system in Utica rather than a prospect. "When he's going we're going..when he's not we're not going" ....
