  1. I didn't like him very much before, but I find him the most likable of the young top 10 members. Like, Zverev and Tsitsipas don't seem very nice to me. Medvedev seems okay. I like Medvedev better than Rublev. Hopefully Shapovalov and Auger Aliassime can get there next year.
  2. He's not on the same level as Petey and Hughes in terms of money but he is in terms of importance and being a key piece
  3. Demko. Gaudette is also an RFA but he's a tier below in terms of importance
  4. We only have to send two players to the minors to get compliant. A deal doesn't have to be made
  5. How many of those teams can get cap compliant by just waiving guys and running with smaller roster sizes (20-21 guys)?
  6. Pospisil vs italian young gun 19 year old Jannik Sinner in the final of the last regular tournament of the year. Both looking for their first ever title. This is Sinner's first final and Pospisil's third final (loss to Raonic in 2014, and loss to Monfils in February this year). Here's hoping anything is Pospisil.
  7. The place I've gone the most is Floata Seafood Restaurant on Keefer. The clientel is older but that's how you know it's good and classic.
  8. I hope he shares that info with Green.
  9. I thought this was going to be an analysis of what a hypothetical Canadian division would have been like using the 2019-2020 head to head results Like was done here: Spoiler alert: it didn't look good for us. Mostly because we suck against Winnipeg and Montreal
  10. Weegar is a D-man. What's with the Roussel comparison? Is this a reference to the discussion in the Lemieux signing thread?
  11. Isn't that really high for how inconsistently his seasons have gone? He has two seasons of 50 and 59 points (5 years apart), but also multiple seasons of just scoring around 30 points.
  12. There's no benefit at all to this kind of hindsight what ifs. Some of these decisions aren't even able to be made without what we learned from the playoffs (like that Demko is able to step up). Also making all these moves at the TDL (basically being full on sellers) is not something a team close to a playoff spot for the first time in 5 years would do. It's not realistic. Say Buffalo is close to a playoff spot at the next TDL. They haven't made the playoffs in 9 years. They would not become sellers just because of all the draft picks they could get. If anything, they'd be buyers to try to assure themselves of the playoffs. Also Markstrom was injured at the time of the TDL. Which team in need of a starting goalie, trades for an injured one, on an expiring contract becoming a UFA, at the TDL?
  13. If Virtanen was enough sweetener, it would have been done way earlier and we would have just re-signed Toffoli. Benning has been trying to drop salary since Vegas beat us. The problem with Virt as sweetener to drop salary is that Virt himself has salary on top of the player we actually want to drop. What team would take on two salaries just to give us back a draft pick? And don't say a team needing to reach the cap floor. No team (not even Ottawa) will struggle to reach the cap floor
  14. These weren't bad choices. This was a systemic pattern of abuse that began before he was 14 and continued after. And it's also how he's responded to his actions, reportedly showing no remorse. So when exactly does his second chance begin? Is the years of abuse and no remorse all still his first chance? I'd figure his second chance would've begun already after he went to court. He'd be on chance number 3 now and blowing it
  15. JD Burke thinks he's so important. What a whiny bitch opinion to have.
  16. His 5th team by the time he's 26 for a former 3rd overall. Ouch.
  17. Kissing his wife, handling the trophy, no gloves, no mask. Horrible. And she allowed herself to be kissed so she cares as little as he does.
  18. We'll see if the Coyotes ever sign this kid to a contract. It'll say alot about how much they care about the NHL Inclusion Commitee
  19. Just out of curiosity, what injury did you think he had?
  20. If the 2020-2021 season runs long because the league tries to fit 82 games in beginning in January, could the expansion draft be delayed?

It needs to happen after the season has ended.

It probably would be, but I'm betting we're getting a shortened season. I'm hoping for like 60 games, but my gut is feeling a 48-game season.

I still think a half season against western teams like the 2013 season  is the likely scenario.

@Pears I don't see the western teams concept working this time as it means lots of crossing the border.  The Jays plan to play in Toronto with American teams coming and going was shot down by the Feds.

  21. Gotta think that getting the players to be smarter about where they go and what they do off the ice will do more to prevent infection than removing physical contract. That and daily testing.
  22. Former 10th overall pick by the avalanche in 2016 (Juolevi's year). 72 points in 208 NHL games Just one year after they drafted Rantanen 10th overall in 2015. 250 points in 281 NHL games Just look how different these two careers have gone. Picked by the same team, with the same pick one year apart. This is why comparing a player to other players picked in the same spot but in different years is asinine. The exact pick used means very little across different years unless we're talking top 3.
  23. If only they'd kept Marleau and then trade for Pavelski. Re-unite the Sharks
