  1. I thought the Isles pick had lottery protection on it. If its lottery it moves to 2021.
  2. Woo hates the Flames! https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/junior-hockey/steve-ewen-woo-focht-could-benefit-greatly-from-a-long-playoff-run-by-the-hitmen
  3. When are the KHL playoffs? and any chance Tree plays against Pod?
  4. There's the Senators we all recognize. Got worried when they traded away a 7th. but they've recouped a 5th.
  5. That's why I left out Nylander and Ehlers from that list, since they're obviously worth more. Dal Colle is prob worth a lot less. Virtanen, Ritchie and Bennett seem to have similar progression
  6. Be interesting to see if the Wild get hit on his eventual cap recapture
  7. Ritchie was one of the options in the middling bottom half of the top 10 in Virtanen's draft. Does this start to set a market for what the Dal Colle, Bennett, Virtanen type players are worth?
  8. How many picks does Melnyk want? He knows you need a team to ice, right?
  9. And people on Twitter were spreading juolevi, woo, or Rathbone for Simmonds? And he cost a 5th round pick with salary retention in the same conference? Hahahahaha
  10. I don't think Bailey is in the 7, since he isn't really a prospect. He has over 50 games of previous NHL experience and was a 2013 draft pick that's now in his 3rd NHL organization. That's journeymen territory. In the same stage of his career as Boucher
  11. Also the team that is behind in a game is usually shooting more to try to catch up. Even if the shots are low quality.
  12. Could it be that Benning thinks the 2021 draft is really good? So he's pushing for the playoffs this year so that we keep our 2021 first. Even the conditional pick in the Toffoli trade is a 2022 4th

I think your right, it's a weak draft this year.

I think Benning will still acquire draft picks but probably 2nd to mid-round.

@Tystick Funny you say that because I've heard that 2020 is a strong draft on Reddit. Personally, I think that every draft is pretty much the same outside of the strength of the top 3-5 ranked players. Its only several years down the line that a draft should be called strong (like 2003 or maybe 2015). Calling a draft strong pre-draft is overhyping it.

It's funny, the last few drafts have all be touted as being "the strongest draft class of the year". I feel like 2012 had a lot of hype behind it and it turned out to be a pretty weak draft class. I gotta believe that Benning feels 2021 may be better than 2020. If there's one thing he and Brackett are great at, it's drafts and drafting. I still don't doubt the Canucks can find a gem in the late rounds like they've done in years past. Not gonna write this off yet. Madden was a 3rd rounder that just netted us Toffoli. And I remember guys like JD Burke ripping the Canucks for not picking Jake Wise who has been average at the NCAA level... gotta trust the process.

  13. I feel like a player needs really elite skill to overcome size issues (height or weight or both). Petey and Hughes have that skill. Madden's done well in college but if he had that high end skill, he likely wouldn't have fallen to the 3rd round. Unless there's other factors at play (other deficiencies in his game besides size, refusal to sign, etc)
  14. Just a reminder that John Madden (Tyler's dad) took the Cup to Trump on his day with it after winning it with the Hawks. Always left a bad taste in my mouth, even since Tyler was drafted.

Donald has lifted the cup more than this franchise has..

you shouldn't be allowed to lift it unless you've won it or a family member of someone who has won it. That's my take on it anyway.. it means less if you see idiots like this goofball lifting it. Or Def Leppard, was it, sitting it upside down..
