Nowhere did I suggest taking a big contract back in moving Myers. But if a rebuilding team is willing to take Myers plus a waiver elligible young player for wid draft pick I'll happily take it to shed his 6m cap hit. The one year cap hit doesn't matter much to a rebuilding team and they get a pretty decent veteran only costing them 1m actual money. Adding a waiver elligible young guy unlikely to make our team to make it happen is 100% worth it.
I was more comparing it to how we added a second round pick as well (not to mention the 9th overall) to dump those contracts

I'd happily give up Hoglander or Rathbone to move Myers. I don't really see either being longterm Canucks.
Myers only has 1 year left. i wouldn't give up additional assets to dump that. Less we repeat the Eriksson, Beagle, Sutter dump

So curious about the return!
I'm curious if it's more than their rumored offer for JT from last season
Tarasenko has a spotty injury history, is older, and is a pending UFA whereas Miller at last TDL had an additional whole year at a lower cost than Tarasenko

There is a good chance that the Canucks can actually lose all first 10 games of the season. They might be just as bad as the 16-17 Avalanche...
And we won't even get a Makar out of it

The only thing that would make this better is if another team offer sheeted Mangiapane as well
Do they let Sean Monahan walk too?
Monohan has been wrecked by injury. He should be let go.
Mangiapane can't be offersheeted anymore since he went for player elected arbitration

Will be traded for Future Considerations in 2 years

And this guy was on waivers earlier in his career. On track to be top 10 pick bust and his career is revived by Colorados system

Why does it seem people are so low on Pickering here?

Wasn't Dach third overall? How is he only worth a 13th overall pick?

Do they get cap credit for this but Oilers would not for Keith because it's two different situations? Buy out vs cap recapture?

So Dallas gives us a 5th rounder to take Dickinson back after a down year and for more expensive than he was for them, but we give the 5th back
So in the end Dallas gives us a 2nd to get Dickinson and Dermott? I don't see that happening.

I'm surprised Brisebois is only 24 (though he turns 25 in a month)

SEE, THIS is the type of cap circumvention that Bettman needs to clamp down on.
Weber has no inclination of EVER playing again.
MY addition to the rules would be : any player on LTIR for more than 1 season is AUTOMATICALLY RETIRED.
Has anyone ever been on LTIR for more than 1 full regular season and still returned to play?

Wonder what his sister thinks of this...

I'm out of the loop on this one

https://theprovince.com/sports/vancouvers-odlum-brown-tennis-tournament-gets-promoted
The VanOpen has been promoted to the highest Challenger Tour tier. Now worth 125 ATP points to the winner on the men's side.
Unfortunately it takes place the same week as the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati which will draw away some potential talent who may instead try to play qualifying for that instead

It's palatable sure, but waiver eligible players make it through waivers all the time. Rathbone would probably clear especially if waived when there's tons of equivalent players being waived during pre-season. I'm not convinced the cost of 1 more year of Myers it worth the loss of the prospect even for Abbotsford.
I'd do it to dump OEL for sure because the benefit back to us is far greater.
