So you're saying that Gillis should have taken less because it's trade deadline day.?...Obviously,the return wasn't there, unless you want Brandon Sutter....No trade is better than the wrong trade in my books
Luongo lost his starter role to Lack this year..same as he lost it to Schneider last year..Lacks emergence as a quality goalie changed the goalie landscape.
Sounds to me like other teams were trying to fleece Gillis..You can't pull something off that does not exist..Did you really want to see Brett Sutter in. Canucks uniform?
Team looked like it barely had a pulse..I am concerned about Torts coaching style..Where's the offense?...I've seen enough of a sample size to see that whatever Torts is trying to preach isn't working with this roster....
I would love to see Toronto pay (and pay dearly) but Kesler isn't in the Toronto sweepstakes ...I have seen Chicago rumours (with sources),but to me ..looks like kicking tires...I still say Kesler remains a Canuck.
Agreed, there's no question that when Torts took over ,the decline of the Canucks was rapid....Riding guys 25+ minutes is not ideal in the West....He has to have more balanced lines..Hopefully ,MG finds another horse.
That's kind of what I'm thinking....It would have to be a team that's making a real push for the SC...Too bad Gillis and Shero couldn't work out a three way deal with another team.
I don't see them as serious buyers for Kesler..The Leafs are not serious contenders for the SC,and they're not going to give up Kadri or Reilly....They will be offering Gardiner or Franson + spare parts and be smug about it..Just ask Darren Dreger.
I agree that Florida isn't on Keslers list....but maybe a team like Florida could be part of a three way deal Van-Pitts-Fla...something like that...that way, everybody gets what they need.
Defining Keslers style of play...He leaves nothing on the table.I've always thought that he is going to have a fairly short career..There's no doubt that his trade value would be highest this deadline or offseason...Any major cup contending team that acquires him would definitely be the odds on fav to win a cup (providing he's healthy ).
A lot of players have not been universally loved in the room .Messier,Esposito,Roy..It's not a popularity contest..It's about being a winner..I garuntee there's not a single team in the NHL who wouldn't like to have a Ryan Kesler in their lineup.
Edler I could see traded.
Kesler ,I cannot,...if he was to be traded,we would be starting a 'from the ground up' rebuild'..Checking out the Leafs version of CDC has them trading Joffrey Lupul straight up for Kesler,or Cody Franson + spare parts.
Teams can't win all the time.....real fans stick by their teams through good and bad...The bandwagoner's usually start jumping off on the first prolonged losing streak.
