  1. Bengals are paper tigers nice in the reg season and fold up come playoff time.
  2. I don't get Eagles they are interested in qbs a rb and oline guys. If I am the Eagles and Goff and Wentz are off the board and it costs too much to trade up I would draft Vernon Hargreaves out of Florida at CB. He has pro Bowl potential similar to Joe Haden.
  3. Where can I watch el classico and when is it in Pacific time?

  4. No Tanks Canucks. Get Off your knees your blowing the lottery you selfish pricks.

  5. If the Canucks don't get a top 3 pick minimum the lottery is rigged and the NHL could be as corrupt as FIFA.

good odds of a top prize is not the purpose of a lottery.  its a double edged sword.  we have to accept it being this way in order to not guarantee a reward to Toronto or Edmonton for their obvious tank jobs.

    3. Baer.

      Baer.

More likely to drop out of top-3 than winning. Don't get your hopes up. I'd say the chances Canucks drop below pick 5 are under 20%

This tank is only worth it if you get a top 3 pick.

  6. When is this kid turning pro? One more year is enough I think if he has another good year. Gallagher thinks NCAA div1 college hockey is a better league than Canadian juniors because of having to play against 20-25 year olds instead of just teenagers I'm juniors or the odd overager. It makes some sense for guys like Tanev and Hutton who both made a pretty seamless transition from college to pro.
  7. Does anybody else notice the messaging in the Canucks dressing room? "We Win Here" players in the room probably get a good laugh at that now.

They were winning last year. So was Calgary. Despite the fact Edler really should be a #3 Dman, he's our #1. Sutter is out.

Hutton, Tryamkin, and Baer are the few bright spots.

Horvat is out of his depth. The other rookies are inconsistent, and we're getting little to no scoring from our Vets.

My hope is we'll be like the Av's. Get first overall, then rebound into the playoffs next year.

  8. I would keep Etem he is a big body who can skate and forecheck. Has the speed to play on the pk. Burrows and Vey seem redundant.
  9. Good thing NFL does a great job dragging out free agency to fill the post combine void leadig up to the draft at the end of April. This draft in terms of high end probowl talent is very thin on paper probably 6 legit guys after that projections are all over the place. Outside of Wentz and Goff and maybe Cook or Lynch the qbs in this class are long range prospects.
  10. I doubt it. He is more of a playmaker.
  11. Ok whatever is the company line. I think he is out so they can get a look at Guance at center and McCann on the wing.
  12. Back in the lineup tonight. Let's see what's up. Vey healthy scratched?
  13. I can't get a read on this guy yet. Will watch him over the remaining games and see what kind of tools he has. Right now he seems just like a slightly better Linden Vey. Small and soft. Has some good skill with good Hockey IQ and vision makes an effort defensively. Good passer and pretty good puck skills. Doesn't seem to play with much intensity and battle level has an average shot not the greatest skater like Vey but has adequate speed.
  14. So Benning wants to add 2 UFA wingers according to Kuzma.

This makes sense. Canucks need scoring bad. Assuming the Canucks pick either Laine or Matthews with one of the first three picks they'll likely be receiving... they'll need a winger or two to accompany them. Chances are that they'll go hard on getting one or two of Okposo, Lucic, Ladd, and Eriksson... Of those four, I think the Canucks are likely to scoop up Lucic and maybe Ladd since both are hometown boys and one may take a hometown discount to play out his final years here (I'm referring to Ladd in this case).

I would personally just try to sign Troy Brouwer he is a local guy and has size and decent speed to play in the top 9 at a more affordable price than the big names. But we shall see.

    3. Quantum

      Quantum

Troy could be another intriguing signing, especially if they can only land 1 of the people I listed above. He'd definitely bring a refreshing veteran presence to the team. However, I see him re-signing with the Blues. It's just what my gut is saying. Also, we don't need more Top 9 guys, we've got a ton of them both young and old (especially if the Canucks opt to keep 1 of Higgins or Burrows). However, like you said, Troy would be a very affordable option for the team if they spend high on a new d-man and forward yet still want to flesh out there roster. This offseason it'll be way easier to offload Burrows and Higgins because they'll both be on expiring contracts... and in Burrows case he's actually an EXTREMELY attractive option for a cap floor team (like Arizona, Ottawa, or Anaheim) since he's got a 4 million dollar cap hit but he's only going to be paid something in the ballpark of 2.5-3 million, so there are savings to be had. In Higgins's case, his contract is pretty cheap and he could be an attractive option for a team willing to gamble on a vet (though, the likelihood of that happening is extremely low considering what happened to Curtis Glencross last season). This is just my two cents though

  15. That was a close one for team tank. Had me sweating.. Cmon Canucks you gotta play like you want a high draft pick stop screwing yourselves trying o pick up a point here and there in meaningless games.

  16. This thread is THE Greatest and Most Legendary in the history of these forums.
  17. Word on the streets is a good shot Josh Gordon is back from his Martavis Bryant like ban. What are the odds two potential elite players who are size/speed freaks have drug problems. Rg 3 could be nice the few times he has time to launch a deep ball to Flash Gordo n behind the terrible o line.

Jonny the pizza guy started it off basically talking about the lack of NHL ready talent and the team lacking a clear identity going forward.

    3. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

Some want Willie gone. Some are mad at Benning and not committing to a full rebuild yet while others want them to sign a significant free agent to try to be a competitive team challenging for the playoffs.

      Mr.DirtyDangles

MF'n Playoffs ?! Ridiculous fools lol   Hitting rock bottom in about  3.......2.......1.......  and KNOW we can finally start the rebuild right.   Draft a stud work the FA pool obviously make a few deals and slowly rise back to the top  :D

  19. Rg3 to Cleveland has to mean they are going to pass on a qb early. Rg3 would not have signed if he had to compete for the job with another high pick. I mean he couldn't handle Kirk Cousins and was looking over his shoulder don't think he would play nice with a #2 pick like him. Next domino to fall is what happens with Kap next week? Cut,trade to Broncos or somehow staying with the 49ers? If Kap gets moved Fitzmagic will have to sign with the Jets with them interested in Josh McCown.
  20. How do you like Frans Nielsen and Troy Brouwer as realistic free agent options for the Canucks? Sign both to 2 year deals to play in the top 9.

      Piggy Bank

We have 7 signed without Higgins. Baertschi and Granlund to re-sign. Etem and Vey trying for a spot. Then McCann and Virtanen trying to come back. We could make 2-3 forward UFA signings.

On the back, Edler Tanev Hutton Sbisa Tryamkin + Hamhuis? Larsen? Pedan? Biega?

We could go big and make the playoffs, adding good UFA's.

    3. Lockhart

      Lockhart

I think we will most likely get a top 4 pick this year as well. Which will probably be a forward that will be ready to play in the top 9 next season.

I'd rather go all in for Lucic or Stamkos, if not our top 9 should be OK if healthy.

    4. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

I think it really depends obviously the Canucks need to keep spots open for young players. I think Vey could be traded possibly for a pick. McCan,Virtanen,Guance to start in the minors.

Etem is a quality 4th liner with size and speed to forecheck if they keep him.

Grenier is waiver eligible he needs a spot or traded.

If the Canucks want to be a playoff team Nielsen and Brouwer should be enough while leaving money to re-sign the young players.

  21. Qb talk is heating up Rg3 first domino then Kaep and Fitzmagic.
  22. IF you a true fan you gotta be ream tank for 10 games. :P

I agree. Depth should be better next year especially with McCann and Guance or Virtanen in the minors in Utica for depth.

    3. Green Building

      Green Building

Yeah I still say one or both of Virt or McCann will be in Utica. Not showing a lot of NHL readiness down the stretch. Perhaps McCann would show more if given better linemates/minutes, but his strength isn't there. I've missed the last 2 games, but he's appeared to be a spaghetti noodle on skates at times this season.

High hopes for both, reasonable expectations though. And they start with proper development. To bad they each of them couldn't have been there this year. Stupid birthdays. Stupid CHL rules.

I don't advocate full season tanking but when the ships sinking on the season why not turn a negative season into a positive by adding a close to NHL ready young impact player?:P

that's like being a prize fighter and taking money to lay down...very unethical ....the players will always go out and try their best...i know i would...if we end up with a great pick , fine but not on purpose,

    3. JustABandwagoner

      JustABandwagoner

Didnt the Sabres tank on purpose?

    4. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

Not saying you should tank from the start but after trade deadline you know you are a seller and have no real shot to do anything in the playoffs. Plus by now with what 11 games left everyone should be hoping for losses.
