If the Canucks don't get a top 3 pick minimum the lottery is rigged and the NHL could be as corrupt as FIFA.

Does anybody else notice the messaging in the Canucks dressing room? "We Win Here" players in the room probably get a good laugh at that now.

They were winning last year. So was Calgary. Despite the fact Edler really should be a #3 Dman, he's our #1. Sutter is out.
Hutton, Tryamkin, and Baer are the few bright spots.
Horvat is out of his depth. The other rookies are inconsistent, and we're getting little to no scoring from our Vets.
My hope is we'll be like the Av's. Get first overall, then rebound into the playoffs next year.

So Benning wants to add 2 UFA wingers according to Kuzma.

This makes sense. Canucks need scoring bad. Assuming the Canucks pick either Laine or Matthews with one of the first three picks they'll likely be receiving... they'll need a winger or two to accompany them. Chances are that they'll go hard on getting one or two of Okposo, Lucic, Ladd, and Eriksson... Of those four, I think the Canucks are likely to scoop up Lucic and maybe Ladd since both are hometown boys and one may take a hometown discount to play out his final years here (I'm referring to Ladd in this case).

Troy could be another intriguing signing, especially if they can only land 1 of the people I listed above. He'd definitely bring a refreshing veteran presence to the team. However, I see him re-signing with the Blues. It's just what my gut is saying. Also, we don't need more Top 9 guys, we've got a ton of them both young and old (especially if the Canucks opt to keep 1 of Higgins or Burrows). However, like you said, Troy would be a very affordable option for the team if they spend high on a new d-man and forward yet still want to flesh out there roster. This offseason it'll be way easier to offload Burrows and Higgins because they'll both be on expiring contracts... and in Burrows case he's actually an EXTREMELY attractive option for a cap floor team (like Arizona, Ottawa, or Anaheim) since he's got a 4 million dollar cap hit but he's only going to be paid something in the ballpark of 2.5-3 million, so there are savings to be had. In Higgins's case, his contract is pretty cheap and he could be an attractive option for a team willing to gamble on a vet (though, the likelihood of that happening is extremely low considering what happened to Curtis Glencross last season). This is just my two cents though

That was a close one for team tank. Had me sweating.. Cmon Canucks you gotta play like you want a high draft pick stop screwing yourselves trying o pick up a point here and there in meaningless games.

People freaking out on 1040 post game show!!

How do you like Frans Nielsen and Troy Brouwer as realistic free agent options for the Canucks? Sign both to 2 year deals to play in the top 9.

We have 7 signed without Higgins. Baertschi and Granlund to re-sign. Etem and Vey trying for a spot. Then McCann and Virtanen trying to come back. We could make 2-3 forward UFA signings.
On the back, Edler Tanev Hutton Sbisa Tryamkin + Hamhuis? Larsen? Pedan? Biega?
We could go big and make the playoffs, adding good UFA's.

I think it really depends obviously the Canucks need to keep spots open for young players. I think Vey could be traded possibly for a pick. McCan,Virtanen,Guance to start in the minors.
Etem is a quality 4th liner with size and speed to forecheck if they keep him.
Grenier is waiver eligible he needs a spot or traded.
If the Canucks want to be a playoff team Nielsen and Brouwer should be enough while leaving money to re-sign the young players.

IF you a true fan you gotta be ream tank for 10 games.

Yeah I still say one or both of Virt or McCann will be in Utica. Not showing a lot of NHL readiness down the stretch. Perhaps McCann would show more if given better linemates/minutes, but his strength isn't there. I've missed the last 2 games, but he's appeared to be a spaghetti noodle on skates at times this season.
High hopes for both, reasonable expectations though. And they start with proper development. To bad they each of them couldn't have been there this year. Stupid birthdays. Stupid CHL rules.
