  1. Hey guys need some fantasy advice who is the better play going forward CJ Spiller or Fred Jackson? Or do you guys think it will be a timeshare situation the rest of the way that screws everything. Also was wondering it's it worth it to pick up Jahvid Best or Vincent Brown off waivers.
  2. Lions need to run the ball more. Give it to Harris early and often. This should be a showdown between Cornish and Harris.
  3. The Eagles are somehow first place in the NFC East after a quarter of the season. All their wins have come down to the wire. The positive is they continue to get better now that they got off to a decent start and set themselves up heading into the bye week. Vick is gonna have a real test next week with the Steelers blitz happy d. Vick doesn't react well to extra pressure so the Giants relying on their front four only to generate pressure actually helped out Vick. Vick still can't read defenses but at least he is making better decisions and didn't turn the ball over which is the most important thing.
  4. Glad the normal refs are back for the big games on Sunday and Monday night.
  5. Goddell had to protect the shield from getting more crap stains all over it.

  7. If this isn't the final straw I don't what is. The Packers got snaked HEAVY!!! This just got to another level right now where the integrity of the game is being compromised. Tate didn't even catch the freaking ball. The Packers defender clearly made the catch and as he was falling to the ground Tate just grabbed the ball in a last ditch attempt to make it look like a simultaneous catch. I can't believe the refs could get duped like that. Even Tate was thanking his savior for letting that touchdown stand he knows he didn't catch that. What absolute total garbage.
  8. Thanks for the insight I'm a rookie at this. Oh that's cool yeah I joined another league too did the draft yesterday and it simulated the games retroactively till week 3. Since the draft was last night yesterday I didn't bother to check up on how the rules worked and that the league would be starting right away. Big mistake. Needless to say I got absolutely destroyed because I forgot to start A.J Green and Matt Schaub . Oh well I guess. I'm more pissed off about how the Eagles got totally outplayed in Arizona. The O-line is really banged up the Giants d-line must be licking their chops getting ready to take kill shots at Vick next week. Don't worry the Eagles really deserve to be 0-3 right now. They were really fortunate to steal a win against Cleveland and they got away with alot of holding against Baltimore before barely pulling it out. I guess the silver lining for me anyways is the Eagles have sucked for 3 straight games yet somehow they are 2-1 while the Saints are 0-3. Don't know if that helps comfort you though.
  9. I see what you mean. Nicks will be back next week though against the Eagles. Was also thinking of picking up Martellus Bennett but now not so sure since I have enough guys from the Giants already. Also just curious how many leagues are you in currently? This was my first one but I'm thinking about joining another now to hopefully draft a more balanced team.
  10. Finally decided to join fantasy to see what all the buzz is about. Just had the draft today. What do you think of my team? QB: Eli Manning RB1: Reggie Bush RB2: Frank Gore WR1: Victor Cruz WR2: Desean Jackson TE: Brent Celek W/R: Hakeem Nicks K: Matt Prater D: Eagles defense. Bench: QB: Matt Schaub RB: Alfred Morris WR: Randall Cobb WR: Dexter McCluster TE: Jermaine Gresham TE: Kyle Rudolph
  11. Big game again for Vick this week. Can he pull another rabbit out of his ass? Can't keep playing like this and expect to win. Cardinals have an underrated d and with the injuries to the Eagles O-line Vick will be running for his life all day. Only way to slow down the pass rush is to run the football. McCoy has to have a good game if the Eagles are to win.
  12. I was referring more to the 2010 and first part of the 2011 season where until they made changes the team didn't turn around the season. In some cases the Lions such as last year with Tim Brown, they should have created competition for the spot earlier because his play began tailing off at the 8 week mark. Also in 2010 instead of going out and bringing in new import backs after losing Stefan Logan and Martell Mallett to the NFL in consecutive years the Lions got spooked and signed CFL veteran Jamal Robertson who was over the hill and the running game instantly went into the gutter and it only began to recover the back half of last year when they made the switch to Harris. Much of the Lions success has to do with little roster turnover as they have now pretty much the exact same roster as last year. if anything they have upgraded the defence. This is why Winnipeg is struggling they have good young talent on both sides of the ball but not enough good veteran leaders to show the way which is why they are struggling so much. Don't get me wrong I like Harris but his production has been slipping quite a bit since the bye week. It's a concerning trend if it continues. I wouldn't mind the Lions bringing in some import backs once the practice roster expands to push Harris so he isn't just resting on the fact his starting spot is secure as a Canadian. Harris doesn't have the same burst and power breaking tackles he did earlier in the year. Maybe he got worn down being used as such a large part of the offence so early on. The Lions RB depth is also worrisome with the injury to Stu Foord (who they couldn't count on anyways) If Harris goes down they only have one RB on the active roster to fill in and that's Tim Brown which also affects who the returner will be. I don't want wholesale changes to the Lions I'm just pointing out a shift in Buono's philosophy in recent years to keep the status quo as much as possible and load up on veteran players while in the past he always brought in new guys constantly for competition and shied away from more expensive veteran players. You can always keep tweaking because if don't constantly create competition players tend to relax Tim Brown admitted it and that could what has happened with Harris. As long as the team wins everything else gets swept under the rug. But I think the team should be constantly self-critical and look at ways to further improve or else they risk getting complacent.
  13. Ernest Jackson had plenty of opportunities in the Toronto game to make plays but he didn't so Kierrie Johnson gets a chance to reclaim his starting wr spot in the lineup this week. Hopefully he has an explosive play or two and they get him the ball early to get back into a rhythm after being out so long. Once again I have to mention Tim Brown doing a good job in the return game. His punt return td was wiped because of a borderline call. But I like what I'm seeing from Brown. Finally playing with urgency to make a big play each time he gets a chance. He even admitted the reason he wasn't playing well last year and the majority of this year is because he got comfortable and wasn't worrying about his job. Constant competition is required to keep players from relaxing and thinking they can't be replaced. Akeem Foster especially has been coasting for awhile now. Every time Iannuzzi gets a chance he makes plays. Foster should be backing up Iannuzzi rather than getting a free pass as a Canadian starter at WR. I also think Harris is not the same from earlier in the year. He hasn't been running with the same burst and power he was showing earlier. He needs to pick it up quickly. Need some competition for Harris to force him to step his game up or else lose playing time. The Lions used to be good at creating competition Buono always said that you need to keep players off balance to keep them performing at a high level and that they can't get overly comfortable with their position on the team. That has happened far too often the last two years on this team with the GM not willing to make changes to create competition and sticking with the status quo.
  14. I think it has to do with him thinking too much. There is alot of pressure on him this year to perform. The entire season is on his shoulders and how he performs if the Eagles don't make the playoffs this could be the last of Vick and Andy Reid also.
  15. Maybe the Winnipeg players are trying to get the GM fired next.
  16. Are you kidding me? That's nothing compared to being an Eagles fan and worrying that Vick is not gonna last a series on offence without taking a big hit. Why delay the inevitable though? Everyone knows Vick is injury prone and is going to get hurt again so it's just a matter of time. That Ravens d is really going to take some shots at Vick next week especially if they don't get him to roll out of the pocket.
  17. Tim Brown has really picked up his game the past couple of weeks here but then again it could just be that he likes playing against the Alouettes. This week will be a good test to see if Brown can out duel Owens in the return game. Also the Lions made a trade today by sending away Brandon Peguese to free up a roster spot for Elimimian. Guess that means he is coming back .
  18. BRING ON THE LOCKOUT!!!

i agree...lock out until these groups can agree to a long lasting plan...like a 64mil cap for 4 yrs or more..6 yr contracts and 4 yr entry level contracts...teams over contract lengths should be fined with money going to poorer teams... if teams can't survive in a place, move them to real hockey markets..cut betman's salary to 2 mil....find a midway point and get er done...my free advice

^ You bet Joe. The NFL knows labor negotiations that's why they got a 10 year CBA deal done. Bettman prefers to follow his buddy David Stern and the NBA so most likely the NHL will lose the first two months of the season and then start again in late December or January in time for the Winter Classic cash cow.

  19. Just thought I'd mention Tim Brown finally turning in a good outing last game since I rip him almost every week for not doing anything on returns. Let's hope he can finally bring that kind of effort on a consistent basis. I do think if Elimimian lands back with the Lions for the remainder of the year even if only to still try the NFL again next year it would still be worth it. Think about it. BC would have the best LB corps in the league with Elimimian,Bighill, and McKenzie. Plus Elimimian brings the fire to the defence and makes everybody else play better when he is making those crushing hits. People think Elimimian and Bighill play the same position so they can't co-exsist at the same time but the Lions could easily move Elimimian to the outside linebacker spot which would make good use of his sideline to sideline range whereas Bighill is more suited to playing in the middle because he is more of a downhill tackler.
  20. BC got the win but the offence is out of sync. They have Montreal back to back coming up the next two weeks so they better clean it up because they can't expect the defense to bail them out every game. They were lucky to get this win.
  21. Me too. The return was good. But he just doesn't have the long speed to break away in the open field so he has to resort to cutting in and out instead of just going north/south as fast as possible. The fact the Lions seem to have no problem with Tim Brown as the returner leads me to believe they think the blocking on returns is the problem and not Tim Brown. I don't mind Brown as strictly the punt returner but he shouldn't be returning kickoffs he doesn't have the straight line speed for that. Hopefully Kierrie Johnson comes back soon and gets a chance to return kickoffs and use his blazing speed.
  22. Yeah but he has to do that consistently. He was shutdown on punt returns the whole game. If it wasn't for the missed field goal return it would have been yet another bad game from Tim Brown as the returner. The positive from last game is the emergence of Ernest Jackson filling in for Kierrie Johnson, Big guy with good speed that he showed on his td run when he took the sweep. Reminds me of Emmanuel Arceneaux a little bit.
