  1. It's kind of a vapid statement to even bother making if you're not trying to bait people into an argument though.
  2. terrible.dee throwing a tantrum is a top 5 reason to visit this thread right now and that's not up for debate.
  3. And Rasmussen going to Detroit. This is a really hard draft to predict, and I doubt there was much value in trading down in terms of return.
  4. Nor does Tkachuk playing one pretty good NHL season make him a better pick than a defender who is still developing.
  5. Oh, yeah I agree with you about him being long-term. I think there's a lot to be found there for a team that's willing to allow him developmental time, though.
  6. Definitely. People get excited because Tkachuk is playing in the NHL now, and I guess that's fair in some respects. He's a really nice prospect as well, but I think he's almost one of those "what you see is what you get" guys. Patience with Juolevi, and now Petterson, will pay off.
  7. Totally anecdotal, but my shoulders got 2" wider between 17 and 21 and I hadn't started lifting weights or training at that point. I think he could hit a playing weight of about 190-195 and be a really good complimentary skillset to Horvat down the middle.
  8. We needed a defenseman way more severely than a winger.
  9. So do most of them, but yeah, he's pretty small. Glass is a wiry dude though too.
  10. Vilardi's foot speed is pretty weak. He'd have been a good pick too, but Petterson isn't that far off.
  11. I AM EXCITED. A bit riskier than Glass, but Petterson has such a high offensive ceiling. I'm peeing myself I'm so happy.
  12. Excellent pick. Petterson has the highest ceiling outside of the top two for forwards in my opinion.
  13. Why are they making the prospects pick their hat our of some IKEA hat rack
  14. I don't personally like Makar as a prospect at all. More importantly to the draft, however, is that I expect him to be gone by the time we pick. I can't see him making it past Dallas and Colorado.
  15. I miss Petr Skudra

you could feel the fear every time he was in goal

  16. I can see your point to some degree, his foot speed would have definitely held him back. Whether or not he'd have been able to improve on it without the entitlement and other issues is a pointless hypothetical. I still don't think he's a great comparable though.
  17. Hodgson was also an immensely talented player. Lack of work ethic, meddling parents, and nagging back problems ruined his NHL career. None of those are really comparable issues.
  18. He also apparently pushed hard that we take Nylander and not Virtanen, and we all see how that's turned out (so far, hopefully Jake gets himself back on track). Petterson would be a bit off the board, but I have a sneaking suspicion he might end up being the best player outside of the top two. His development will most likely be a little slower than a Glass or Vilardi, but his skill-set is undeniable.
  19. This is true to an extent. As you hit your late teens and early twenties your body becomes better at recruiting muscle fibers due to your central nervous system becoming more efficient. For guys like Juolevi with relatively little muscle however, it's absolutely imperative for them to add lean mass in order to get notably stronger. Your body can only become more efficient at recruiting the muscle fiber you've already got, and in Juolevi (and many other prospect)'s case that is not very much. Fortunately for him he's still young enough to be able to seriously pack on muscle if he's dedicated enough in the gym and with his diet. Testosterone tends to peak for men in their late teens and stay high into their 20s, but he's going to have to put the work in nonetheless. Guys like Ekblad have incredible genetics and aren't really a fair baseline to compare the general populations of athletes. Chychrun is the same kind of case, biologically speaking. Put on a lot of muscle mass easily because they've got high testosterone.
