  1. He's a really sturdy player, too. Seems to be hard to get off the puck, and has amazing offensive awareness as far as getting open. From what I've read, his team in general started the season really slow -- his point totals are a result of that, currently.
  2. Oh, I actually don't mind this one. Dahlen is very talented, but I really like Linus Karlsson as a prospect and have since his draft year. His a very reliable center and plays a pretty big game for somebody who's about 6'1". Could end up being a nice trade for both teams.
  3. I'd argue that the subtraction of Gudbrason isn't going to make our defense that much more of a tire fire than it already was. Basically it's going to be awful either way.
  4. With this trade, I hope Sautner stays up. Kid has some actual jam and meanness to his game. He looked more aggressive than Gudbranson out there. He's not as big, but I like what he brings to the roster. Pearson should be interesting. If he meshes with someone in our top six, he'll be a good pickup. Nothing spectacular, but he's a good complimentary player who can be good in the top six with the right chemistry like he had in LA during his best years.
  5. I didn't have quite the hate on for Gudbranson that others did, but I'm glad to see him go. He didn't work well here, and watching him get walked was tiring to say the least.
  6. I would chop off a baby toe to have another Salo on this team. Especially one with less injuries. That clapper was so hot.
  7. Oh trust me, I hate Schaller a lot more than Guddy. I just have more fun picking at Guddy because when he makes mistakes they're usually BIG mistakes. Schaller just regularly contributes absolutely nothing and doesn't do anything, so there's nothing fun to rip on. I just try to be honest in my biases.
  8. I have a feeling I will still not like his play, to tell you the truth. I have to have a player I hate every year or else the rest of my magic dries up, this year is Gudbranson's turn.

Ed Jovonoski was on Sportsnet 650. He said Florida's biggest mistake was letting him go.

I'm not gonna argue with Jovocop.

@Ghostsof1915  I vaguely remembering Shane Corson trying to get to Jovocop in the Canucks dressing room (heh, must be related to Torts :P).  For the life of me, I can't remember the circumstances surrounding that...I do remember Corson hitting Jovocop in the face with his stick and getting a suspension for that around that time.

  10. Honestly, Gudbranson is just kinda super wack. He would have been a franchise defender in 2002. It's not 2002 anymore.
  11. My only issue with Hughes is that he seems to be too focused on creating highlight reel plays, and sometimes it costs him. I'm pretty certain that's something he'll grow out of as he matures though. He's fun to watch. I haven't seen many players move that smoothly on their skates.
  12. The five day break after this Leafs game could not be timed any better for both him and Pettersson, honestly.
  13. I don't think that should be too surprising really. Boeser is a really talented player, but he doesn't drive offense. He's an excellent second piece to a duo, but he's not a creator on his own. Horvat is the only other guy on the roster who can really create, and he wasn't having the best of games. We still need somebody else in the top six who can make things happen, rather than just being a finisher. I think the team is still hoping they can turn Goldobin into that guy.

  15. I think they're quite fun in general. When we lose, it's generally the guys who wont be here in a year or two messing it up. Green's system can be frustrating occasionally, but more often than not I find the games to be a blast. Even when they're dinged up or losing 12 straight.
  16. I would love to see Baertschi actually recover from his injury and be tried out with Horvat and Virtanen. Baertschi and Goldobin are both weird playmaking wingers, but Sven plays the straight line style of Bo and Jake a lot better than Goldobin can. I think it would be a good fit. Or maybe Roussel will stay over-producing on that line. That would be fun.
  17. i like this layout lots but also its rendered me snow blind.

  18. Would never count him out. He was my guy from this draft (in our position) and I was absolutely floored when he was still on the board at our pick. Was expecting Dobson or Bouchard and I've never been happier to be wrong.
  19. People expect him to be an offensive powerhouse right away and it's silly. Dude's rounding out his game and still playing great on the back end there. Just wait, a few years from now he's gonna explode points wise on defense. Maybe even next year. Wouldn't trade Pettersson for him but I'd do some naughty things for a Dahlin.
  20. Plays best in a clearly defined role, because he's a simple north-south player who overthinks with bigger minutes a lot of the time. If he's doing well, why fix what isn't broken?

  22. It might be bastardized Norweigen. Gudbrand is an old Norse male first name, and they used to follow the -sson -ssen -sdotter tradition for last names. There are still families in Norway with the Gudbrandsson spelling of the last name according to google. Potential just a gradually modified spelling of that.
  23. +/- can be a decent stat, but you really have to look at the context of it for it to be valuable at all. In the case of the Comets and Juolevi, I don't think his -6 is anything to be particularly worried about at all. Juolevi by all accounts I've read is being played in all situations. He's likely receiving a decent amount of ice time (though I can't find any numbers). He's simply out there with more opportunity to be scored against than a lot of players. Normally this wouldn't be a very good excuse, but when you look at the Comets stats as a whole it starts to make sense. Kublukov and Bachman have 0.898 and 0.870 save percentages respectively. They've been receiving fairly poor goaltending with Demko out. If you're on the ice a lot, and your goalies can't make saves, you're going to pick up a few unfair minuses. There are only 8 positive players on Utica, and 16 in the negative. This isn't just a Juolevi issue. It's a team wide issue. He does need to work on his defensive game, but at the moment I would be way more impressed with his point totals than disappointed in the -6.
  24. A couple of friends are going to be getting pardons for silly criminal records that never should have existed in the first place, so they're happy. Aside from that, it doesn't really change much. And I think people will be surprised at how little it changes anything in the country. Most people who wanted to smoke weed were already smoking weed. Theres been illegal dispensaries here for like 2 years that anyone could go to, the cops just never bothered to shut them down after a point. Good day for the country.
  25. I wouldn't be surprised, but I also agree with @aGENT that he could end up being an attractive option for a cap basement team if we retain some of the cap hit. For the time being though, I'm happy for once with his place in the lineup. His value could be a little better on the market if he keeps playing well on the Pettersson line.
