  1. Ok zero is a bit of a stretch... that's pushing it!
  2. Oh the death stare on the right... "I vill keel you with my alien, out of this world, super powers" so kiss my (_i_) Matheson..
  3. Seriously? Strength helps especially for endurance and in the nhl, the more the better. Long season followed by gruelling playoffs, so yeah, strength training and gaining some weight would not hurt petey a bit. You could tell it was wearing him down but i have faith in his drive to get better no matter what it takes.
  4. Well thankfully he doesn't have the same build but he's pretty mobile is actually what caught my attention along with good vision and iq, plus maybe he can provide some push back when needed but if we keep going into the playoff's soft as butter then back to the old "same ole" scenario we have seen over the last 40 yrs with only 2 exceptions and both no depth to make it in for the kill. Meh.. oh yeah and you can improve cutting by improved balance, goes hand in hand. That's why Bo shocked me so much after his first season spent time and came out noticeable after working on it in the offseason. Again, whatever you put in, you get out but some only have a certain amount of sheer will and determination, some have more. Others need more motivation. I just hope we get more of the latter.
  5. From what I saw he skates well, it's a myth that big guys cant skate, I can use my own experience of growing up to be 6 foot 3 and all I needed was leg strength training and I could skate a lot faster than kids older than me but of course I had to work on it. Look at Horvat for instance although hes not that big as 6ft 6 BUT his skating kinda sucked when he got here but he worked at it and does fine so it proves as long as you put in the effort... good things happen
  6. Well.. the way i look at it is having a good list of quality prospect's headed to ECL's is nothing but a good thing and that's canuck history making for the first time, especially if we keep next years picks. I've hated the cap since day one and i believe we lost a cup out if it but the secret is, being so damn good no one can beat us and that takes time yeah but at least we haven't traded our first's for years and have a single great player but we are hardly one player away from greatness. Things could be a lot worse, we only have one bad contract and after his bonus LE will be 3 mil off the cap if we retain half but cap incresse next year should cover that. (3 mil is in his range IF anyone wants him that is) However i hope benning has plans for paying petey and boeser, including the plan of having ELC's and supporting cast so we don't end up like Toronto or Edm.
  7. I'd simply google it, top 100 2019 nhl draft projections and i'm sure more than a few.. each round is 30 so top 100 should suffice your curiosity.
  8. been waiting for support for brock/petey the same way as the sedins... hope for once they get a big tough BUT skilled guy on that line but i have my doubts on benning pulling it off
  9. Probably not in the nhl.. Euro league? Probably.. pouliot mightttt make some teams bottom pairing and that's a big might! Guance? Well... same scenario i think.. Meh
  10. Yeah i get that part but i don't think it's the case here size wise. IQ though? Yeah he has that and play making ability it seems with 23 assists but i get what your saying. I guess your best off reading his bio and from more than one source, what's said about him for yourself..
  11. Yes but which one of them is 6'6? And obviously he has skills and iq...
  12. II just read Jared Chan's article on 3 Defensemen available at 40th but he also had "mentions" and Alex Vlasic, out of the USDP who seems to be a fairly decent player who is a real man child at 17 yrs old, 6'6 200 lbs who has skills.. only 4 goals last season but 23 assists. Some have him listed around 37-38 but if Benning can grab him by trading up a few spots? Or wait it out and see if he's available? Oh for what it's worth bob mckenzie has him @ 23rd. Another big dman with some skills would be great to pair up with hughes or? in a cpl of years This is a big if depending on if Benning wants another D but why not get stocked up on D with the way injuries happen here? Who knows though right? Might be a really good prospect forward who he can't pass up. Anyway, thoughts?
  13. Well $&!#e, I just read "erikssons friction" after typing out my own thoughts on the LE/Green thing but decided to edit and turn it in something kinda funny... April 1st, I read LE to retire "arms up" YES!!!!!!! omfg!!! YES!!!! WTF?????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! GOT ME!!!! 10 second facepalm.... you _astard!!!! lmao!!! I HATE YOU! Losing a roster spot to and 6 mil per to a guy that doesn't give a $&!# is painful.... grrrrrr! lol He should try being a long time Vancouver fan with watching and no cups since the millionaires and go through the razzing of other teams fans and see how he likes it
  14. Yeah it's a joke really, number of protectable players and the same cap space makes this crazy and able have a contending team right away is f'd!!!
  15. Plus thinking, we can afford a bunch of elites and the cap says no to that, what if it doesn't go up by as much as we'd hope... And if all our prospects did turn out we'd have the same problem as tor and edm not being able to sign much of a supporting cast after signing the elites, and when they get injured or don't perform as projected, oooops!
  16. Ummm he went from being a -21 to a -4... i'd say that area is something being worked on..
  17. Oh points, wait his point production went up too... DEFINATELY better trade him, throw all that developing that's finally almost done for not very much. Yeah that'd be helpful...
  18. That's why he needs pushing and that's greens job...
  19. A young raffi torres, then turned more consistant as those types need more time for maturity than average but once it's there, it pays off but it's not like Jake is going anywhere since benning and green know it's a process that's almost done in him. He just needs to keep it up and he still could make it onto the 3rd line with a 2nd line upside if our new player (via trade or ufa) for Bo whoever that may be gets injured. Anyway Raffi in his prime was a train and Jake will get there too, just a matter of time. Plus being in a room full of guys like petey, brock, and Bo especially but there's more but seems to be the competitive bar is moving up a notch or 2 so that's a far cry from lil depth and the lil depth not being very good with the odd exception but at least we're heading in the right direct direction and so is Jake... not worried about it, he'll be fine.
  20. Well with the ncaa kicking out some nhl ready players it sure will help when we get slaughtered with injuries but would finally be nice to have enough depth not to miss the playoff's or not to advance far when we do get there when guys go down hurt. Even our 2012 run didn't have enough but if we had of had then we'd have won it but rather not see it happen again...
  21. sounds like the problem we had with a certain pair of swedes.. nothing new, the closest we had to it was anson carter...
  22. Seriously? Trader Jim will do what he can to get rid of players who don't fit in to the longer scheme of things for whatever he can get and maybe a FA if the price is right but we won't be going backwards as Benning has learned enough from his successes and failures to know better now. Thing is toughness will always be around, especially in the post season. Yeah it's trending slowly into skill more but toughness isn't going anywhere and especially players with both. C'mon Jimbo, we need some of that too.
  23. Was fun to watch one of the fastest forechecking players ever to wear a canucks jersey. Thanks Jannik! Right up with Burr... "Live long and prosper" sir!
  24. Yeah we used to be a fast fore checking team that forced a lot of turn overs and scored on a reasonable amount of them and penalties that would do the same and our team D was better but not that consistent when top names went down to injury, especially in the playoffs when we needed depth but had none thanks to trade everything to win it now with no or little farm depth to step in and then expect louie to save us single handedly which was stupid beyond belief and then kicked him to the curb when he couldn't. The system was fun to watch but for whatever reason it changed and since green arrived it's been said by mgmt and green they want to get back to that so maybe it'll happen but that style of system tends to increase injury risk and with no depth as we found out over the years but that's the past and at least we have prospects and getting more but team D has to be there too so there's not as much pressure to score a lot more goals but if benning can get enough depth to support that system then we're fine.
