  1. Well whoever is responsible for our D zone needs to change.. how it changes? I don't care as long as it does, we take so many goals against us for that, if it were improved, we'd win a lot more games. It's literally killing us ni matter whose responsible
  2. Is awful.. Bruce needs to be allowed to pick his assistants and they need to be better, their not keeping it simple, and quick style of play, especially out of the D zone... Horrendous!
  3. I'm sorry but Boeser just has to go.. he's by FAR the worst defensive forward on the team, yeah the scoring is worth it IF he scores A LOT but we can get a forward who might not score as much who will do tons better defensively is what we need more! A lot more! Don't get me wrong, as much as I like Flow, he's had quite some time to get better at it and he made "some" progress but a drop in the bucket, we can get a player who can score 15+ goals and better D is his game for 3-4 mil so there's that too.. cap is king so...
  4. No, not if done properly, and it can be tweaked a zillion different ways, but no UFA's, and it can be D picks kept and developed but target trades for up and coming prospects already in their curve. And in the next 2 years we have some cap coming off, but I'd almost put money Bo is traded straight across on the speculation roughly of his upcoming expected cap and then go after a 5 mil Dman instead of the 9 mil he'll be offered (ish) if he keeps up his current tear and top D prospect/s and pick/s whatever.. Boeser can be traded out with a some salary retained in return for a prospect. And the players coming off salary to whatever degree to up ante for Kuz as well. We'll know where Podz is in 2 seasons for stay or go. Garland will end up gone, for whatever we can get for him and save more cap. Plus Pearson will be gone, the season after Tree as well and another spot open and up for grabs. There's a lot that can happen... And those are only a couple and obviously there's more but trending up with a bigger tougher faster skilled team is the only answer, whether we like it or not .. The playoffs are no place for smaller softer teams or close to it....
  5. Of course it's not working, we need more Garland's but 6'2 210, who even when not scoring makes opposing players pay for touching the puck and good speed/work ethic, not only are we the 4th smallest team in the league the toughest guy we have is schenner and he, on his own, obviously isn't enough. It doesn't matter if we make the playoffs or not, we don't have the depth to go far anyway, toughen up and add depth and perhaps in the next 2 years we might be able to go further but coming out of such a long stretch with so many locked in player with NTC's is over and we can finally do some tweaking via trade.. (As long as they keep my guy Kuz) lol And Demko/Hughes.. everyone else can be available. I fully expect JR to put something together but we need to be a tough fast skilled team WITH depth.. nothing else will ever get us anything and we off all fans should know this better than anyone... Will we ever get the 2011 tough, hard hitting, fast forechecking team BUT this time with depth.. without it?! Well you know...
  6. We beat some of the best teams in the league last year with a lesser roster, and have done it a few times this season BUT selling everyone? That's just stupid.. pull off a cpl of roster upgrades, sign some character players with snarl SIZE speed and decent skill, keep drafting D first and foremost. And NOT expect miracles in the process... LIKE NOW! The way this team was locked in contractually wise from 2012 onward and saddled with Luongo's recapture was doom until they all dropped off one by one... I'm amazed that we're not dead last with no hope of parole, let alone anywhere near trying to get in the post season.
  7. Actually in a way, I'm thinking we could do just fine with guys like Woo on 3rd and 4th pairing if we can affectively roll 4 lines, his game would fit right in what we need. It never hurts to have physical play on D so opposing forwards get antsy about getting clocked if they make the smallest mistake... That was our depthless 2011 roster, with depth we could have won it, losing Hamhuis was brutal, then Edler was clearly playing injured, Tanev was beat up, Salo I think was out a few games? And no depth to back it up.. Anyway, we'd better draft D like mofo's and trade in D direction too and load up. Until then if anyone thinks we're in contention for anything anytime soon is sadly mistaken. Been down that road before...
  8. Well, I mean the way he didn't just step in like some of the other guys like Petey, (Podz to limited degree and Hughes etc. We've been lucky like that but it's hardly every player who can come in and take a roster spot.. I guess when I'm tired I might want to go slower and be more... Specific.. in meaning something like that.. my bad!
  9. Our injuries.. lots and lots of injuries with no depth until the old guard were off the books (for the most part)! And at the time we still had a somewhat decent D so... Sad though, our D with Tanev, Salo, and Edler anchored us enough where forward was focused on but there was OJ too.. injured, lost a lot of mobility and gone... Been a long time waiting for depth.. maybe one day..
  10. Yeah sounds like he's improving too.. maybe a late bloomer, who knows. Better late than never though but one thing I do like is that he's not afraid to hit and hit hard, not afraid to fight, at least there's that but if he can think fast enough at the NHL level remains to be seen but you never know right?
  11. And add coming over from another part of the world.. adjustment everywhere he turns BUT it's noticable he has his swagger back we saw in the WJ's, I just hope he gets some sniping coaching ala D Sedin when he finally arrives... He's got everything else, size speed bite.. exactly the player attitude we need! The timing couldn't be better either if it's this season and another full season in Abby and then give him a shot and if he makes it, that will help with the cap BUT if not then the year after. When he's on his game he's looking a bit like a Kuzmenko with snarl. We need that on D as well, we don't have many players except for schenner and Tree that can crease clear no problem because you know where that leads, if not it makes playoff hockey painful to watch when you get sent packing and beat up. We're 4th smallest team in the league, might as well have it on D as well because bigger opposing forwards park it in front and Demko (or whoever) can't stop what they can't see... And if our D needs help with it, it needs bigger forwards so trading in that direction after D is addressed we're pretty much there. Leaves us a few year window to peak IF it gets done and with depth! Not selling the F'n farm for roster players.. I'd lose my s__t if that happened again. Anyway hope Klim is a big part of it! As much as people will cringe at the name Benning, I've always thought he was another steal and I'm not wrong yet, he's looking better and better..
  12. I'm pretty impressed so far, not everyone makes it out of the gate but are worth waiting for and he's exactly that. Happy we got him and look forward to his future here and it maybe just in time as far as the cap goes.. hopefully he'll stay on course and be the solid player we all hope he can be.
  13. Yeah but so many wanted him gone because they simply refuse to see intangibles and take them into account.. Typical though Hairy, nothing new in canucksland. Side note because I'm a lil bit pissed at the JT drama.. All we get in Vancouver for media is the most bush league click bait morons, a lot of what I've read here on the CDC has a lot more basis in truth then those idiots. It's bad enough we've been subject to a win it all now for one cup after selling the farm for years with the team but tag that to the worst media in the entire NHL equals doubly painful to be a Nux fan.. Can we make trades for other good or at least decent media? Just for once? And get depth for them too? Lmao! Maybe we can have a good team and good media for once?! Wouldn't that be a switch?
  14. Well I flew on both, I'm 6'2 and I fit a lot better in the WJ seat but the service was horrible.. AC seat pitch was ridiculous, I was constantly getting up and untangling my legs which were knees touching the middle of the seat in front of me but the service was what you'd expect on a decent airline BUT that being said, I haven't flown on either for years, things might have changed but that was my experience...
  15. As long as it's legal and it always has been as far as the rules were written. If players are good enough to pull it off then it should be left alone.
  16. Honestly, in my mind we could use some tougher skilled players, especially since we're the 4th smallest team in the league. Anddddd we all know how that goes in the playoffs...
  17. It's called seat pitch and after the Canucks have used the plane and it gets back to regular service they'd have to take the seats out one and a time and reset the pitch (distance) from the next row and you can bet Air Canada is already giving the team a deal but not going overboard. How do I know? I used to be a interior aircraft tech for a year in Kelowna, and I know they're set the way they are to already fit max capacity and anything done on a aircraft is not cheap and you know about the bottom line of money making 101 and there's no way A.C. will do that kind of thing without being paid large to do it... 2 things you can always bet on, A.C. has the best service but the worst leg room, W.J. has the worst service but most leg room. Flip a coin, is what it boils down to
  18. Because we've faced teams motivated to beat us and we were/are getting used to the new guys and vice versa, plus our D corps were decimated to start off with too. I wouldn't be that concerned now since we're starting to turn the corner a bit and we still miss Dermott big-time and getting him back will make a bigger difference than most people realize, he doesn't score a lot of points but more importantly he can move the puck quick and seldom makes mistakes and losing a top 4 D out of the line-up for all this time was something we could hardly afford. No wonder if you put it all together it's surprising that we're near .500 at all. Yeah we still need work but at least we're heading forward and if we build a team for a change we might actually win a.. (not jinxing it)!
  19. I'm waiting for Dermott to get back, he plays a quiet un-noticable game, just kept making plays and nothing fancy, just got it done game after game with few mistakes at all. Plus it's out D systems that suck, it's needs to be simple and fast out of the zone, not looking for a stretch pass and hesitation, and we can't even cover the points because forwards are pinching into the corners too deep.. THAT is the reason why we lost so many games to start the season and the D decimated made it even worse. Omfg! It's so frustrating to watch. Keep your eye on both issues, and you'll see exactly why we lose games where opponents jump all over that...
  20. I agree with most of that BUT there was issues around some of the players who went for nothing but others I shook my head at but at the end of the day as we stand now it's hardly as bad as the media hacks and some fans make it out to be, in fact I'm surprised we're even in the playoff conversation at all. I thought the broken locked in 2012 roster would screw us a lot longer than this. However, if we dump the players we can for either D prospects or D picks and load up to beat the odds or better odds anyway to score a bigger D like schenner with a edge who has more skill and speed. Anyway at least we have some trade bait which we didn't exactly have before but still the cap won't make any of it easier... Good thing there's a few coming off the books soon so that's going to help! We just need to tweak shi_ and adjust on the fly as needed, we don't have any other choice until D is looked after AND team D as well. Elite teams are almost as good as D as they are on offense so there's the bar..
  21. At this point, it's pretty safe to say he was our steal this year. No he's not perfect BUT he sure comes up with clutch goals for us! Am I nervous about his upcoming price tag? Certainly but he instantly made Flow redundant and trade bait for a Dman almost over night, didn't think we'd get that big of a steal this year but I'm stoked he's here and hope we can keep him. Pretty damn good player for his first season.
  22. Aged out at 30.. why? Do you know how many injuries he had with us?! Same with Edler.. one or both went down then we'd lose games, we had no depth so it couldn't end up any other way. Both of them, lots of bad luck involved but a ton just playing regularly. I for one, was happy to see them go, just for injuries and games lost though, loved both of them but Tanev was 30 going on 45.. the guy is simply beat up and same with Edler and we need/ed the same skillset in younger players, thankfully we got Hughes but we could use 2 more and of course we're going to trade for more younger D and develop the ones we get in drafting so we can have depth for a change. Or at least we can hope anyway, this is vancouver after all... Hard to rely on anything going right, no matter how hard we try. Getting rid of the f'n mindset of one cup and sell the farm for it has to be top of the list.
  23. I disagree with the Demko bit, it wasn't like he was playing that badly, he could only stand on his head so long, same with Loungo, it's totally unreasonable to ask that when a goalie plays "good" should be enough, if not it's time to focus on team D for the whole roster. Why hasn't this been done yet? Idk but the D systems we're using aren't doing us any favours! Keeping it simple and quick works, not slow and complicated. We get burned so often because of it. Until this changes it doesn't matter whose on the backend, we will still lose games because of it...
