  1. I think we can forgo 5th at the moment and maybe even 4th IF Hamonic can get sorted but we might have his cap space come open to someone else and use some of Lou's recapture and up the ante to someone a big bigger to leave that to 3rd pairing but we need another tougher D who can even fight if called up and do well at if necessary when thing get rough. If we're planning on keeping Garland, Hogs, and Hughes. When thing get rough and your smaller guys you rely upon for secondary scoring get taken out of the equation it just spells more of the same ole 1st round exit or whatever but no cup.. I definately agree but pulling it off shouldn't be crazy hard.. JB tried to pair big stay at homes and smaller faster PMD's with Guddy and Train but maybe JR can have better luck for us, at least we can put Hughes out with Myers but that's just one pairing.. love to see all 3 like that!
  2. I'd say we took OJ because of his offensive potential upside, most of his knights goals were off a wicked petey-like wrist shot. However after being injured he was never the same
  3. just in the middle of doing some things, sorry for the delay but trust me, I don't see un-needed players on this team, players who were stop gaps until replaced by better and that along with the Lou's recapture and another million cap increase combined will help us get there.. I just wish we could get Train back on the team from Russia someone reminded me of that earlier. The perfect 3rd pairing huge Dman who threw grown men around like ragdolls geez! However, good point but doable, I just wouldn't do much until the off-season unless some smokin deal is offered
  4. omg don't go there.. I'm pissed beyond belief he's not here...
  5. not lately that's for sure... like ummm yeah your honour, the guy came and knocked the gun out of my hand and it went off and killed him.. "wtf? I'm getting life now?" ummm... can we talk about this?? no?? what do you mean no? in my best Bruce imitation from the bench..
  6. well we need as close to that as we can get.. no more soft teams.. we get slaughtered in the playoffs and another year of wasted wear and tear on the roster... omg pls no! lol
  7. yeah that was on JB's to do list, see how players work together, see how others develop and move on when you get an idea but we've been in this position enough times before where we ended up with a skilled soft team with next to no depth.. I sure the F hope we don't go there again..
  8. Truly though, we need a skilled, fast, mean, tough as nails 6'4 230 top pairing D and another forward like that as well. At the end of games like tonight and go south and gets dirty, we need pushback.
  9. JB agrees with you obviously, JT was a huge steal! worth more than we paid for and saved/ing us cap space until he re-ups with us and I pray he does! Plays with heart, isn't perfect BUT at least he plays like he gives a shi_ every night, Garland and him out of the same mold.
  10. wait until we lose 2 in a row, trade EVERYONE! Tear that biotch down!!
  11. Ermmm.. the only knock on Hughes is his D game and he's gotten better but hardly near his ceiling and that will dictate hard minutes when you need guys who play a high-end D game because if not.. Guys like McDavid etc etc will feast on D weaknesses so he still has a ways to go but steadily improving in that area but still needs work. He'll get there, just when is the question.
  12. What a goal by Millsy, will say it yet again, trading Miller would be a horrible idea unless your trading for a big fast 1st pairing D and even then that would suck not having him on our team..
  13. yeah and I'd be more inclined to go and buy a real lottery ticket, I'm sure i'd stand a better chance of winning opposed to Canuck luck.
  14. an elite team in Vancouver ever? when I stop laughing (which might take awhile) Ok nevermind.. I'll be laughing about that for a longgggg time!
  15. No, the jersey to hit the ice is the biggest sign of a whiney lil bitch pos
  16. Don't get me started on this, a lot of fans fall for the idiocy of Vancouver media, which is an absolute joke at best. Seems to me that some are afraid to critically think for themselves about what they read and hear. Oddly you'd think you would fact check before parroting what some so-called analyst said and then end up looking like a schmuck for believing bullshi_ but that's a lot of people in general. Proof is in the way you can read all the Facebook and Twitter (wannabe) Dr's on the covid subject, some things said are absolutely stupid but then you see other people saying the same thing because they read it and it has to be true!! So my take is that from Hitler talking millions of people in a country to believe his garbage to Donald Rump on larger scales, it filters down to almost everything and sports is no different, just on a small scale. If you ask me why this happens, that, I'd have no answer but something in the human condition spreads over a large spectrum and putting it on any one thing is difficult to say the least.
  17. who said OJ was trending poorly, his offensive game and puck moving were fine but everyone knows the NHL is so fast you have to practice defence before moving forward. LB? whoa! He had what Tanev/Hughes have, the ability not to panic with the puck and wait until the last possible millisecond and then make a strong play which is something you don't find in every Dman and if you find it in a player, for sure he's going to be on top or 2nd pairing and scoring forwards are a LOT easier to find so it wasn't a bad move but I'm pretty sure he'd have been on top pairing for us. Is that worth more than a Kopitar? Depends on your teams weakness and our was D, always injuries so it was not a bad idea.
  18. First your incorrect in a lot of it and whining you lost 8 years, good grief, try since 1974 and no cup, my first game listened to on the radio was back then so I wouldn't be so upset about it.. ok so you think JB left that as his legacy? for real? That's been the never ending legacy of this whole franchise from back then to current but first, the cupboards were bare when JB got here. Gillis had almost the whole team locked down to long term contracts ffs! and same with that, and not a lot of cap space. JB did bow down to pressure of idiot fans and media AS well as every GM in canuck history and that why we don't have a cup, the runs we did have was the same old, sold the farm to get the roster but end up with zero depth and thus zero cups, there has never been a team that hasn't had injuries in the playoffs, so that depth is a have to have and we never have! THIS IS NOT anything new, but for once if we actually build a team for a change and wait it out until it happens properly THEN we have a shot but not until. A shot at a contending team EVERY year not just a one trick pony, that's f'n old and needs to end but trade and trade and trade without getting depth is going to win F all but seems like most people still want to try that route... even though it's been tried here since DAY ONE!
  19. what do you mean what? we have never had a good prospect pool in the history of this franchise. Are you new or something, let me enlighten you, every GM we've ever had has traded away the pool trying a "win it all now" at the cost of the farm and JB did too when he just should have taken it slower. That's it, we've never built a team here through drafting and development of players who add up to more than FA signings.. on the ice it's been always more FA's opposed to draftees and this isn't new. did that get through to your "what?" or do you need more?
  20. you lost me at the rated hockey prospect pool, of course it was rated low, this is the Canucks we're talking about. Where ownership on down doesn't tell fans to suck it up and put down the crying like lil kids towel. JB's biggest mistake was exactly that, bowed to media etc instead of taking it slower and telling people who don't know shi_ to just wait it out and if they don't like it, too bad so sad. Doing the opposite was his mistake and fell into the same thing as with every other of the 10 GM's before him to sell out the farm for a win now and sell the farm like it's ALWAYS been, and it's been media/fan demanded instead of actually building a team which a lot of people think one and done and that never happens and if it does for a single cup.. I'd rather have a contender every year with DEPTH. And one other thing, and I'll quote JR on this, picks are a crap shoot at best and I add that even 1st overall have been busts so with JV and OJ were busts compared to what they could have been but JV was a head issue and OJ an injury and NO ONE can ever see things like that so if you want to thank someone for all that, start with the bush league media and the moron fans who are dumb enough to follow what they say as IF it's the truth..
  21. This is news? even Rutherford himself said there's a lot of good players on the team and same with Bruce, JB did a fairly good job of taking the most pathetic team in the NHL when he took it over to a team that was covid ravaged and won most of the last 20 games and without Hamonic for the most part that's our second pairing Dman and win the majority of them. At this point we don't need much except 1-2 big skilled toughness on the back end and our bottom six looked after and we're there. This is not a hard thing to do for JR... Like it or not, JB had us fairly close to being an elite team but the local boneheaded media and fans stupid enough to believe their b.s. couldn't see that if their lives depended on it.
  22. and only a f'n idiot would drop a 6'8 tall Dman that can clear bigger players from out of the crease when especially in the playoff's, that's a battle zone and even Demmer cant save what he can't see. However if we keep as the old days and fan favorites, have a smaller team and off'd in the early rounds and no cup, yeah fun stuff..
