  1. well sorry but do you actually think being a GM is easy peasy??? especially here in Vancouver?
  2. although that's true, every player does stupid things like that and believe me as long as a player gets experience and plays through that and gets better then it gets glaring but I'll point to how Christian Erhoff turned out here, when Erhoff got here I imagine it was a relief to go somewhere and NOT be referred to by hometown fans as "errorhoff" but that changed and it's up to the coaches to facilitate that and help with it all the way through the process..
  3. I don't believe he "won't" change them, making trades has to include what we have to offer and it has to help both ways and if it doesn't work, you can't make it work, end of story, something always does come along though but sometimes just not as fast as we want it to but it does get done when the opportunity shows itself and of course I'm going to point to JT Miller, JB didn't find what he wanted and finally a deal like that shows up and he jumped on it.. so saying "won't" is a bit of a stretch no? Funny thing with JT is everyone thought it was a joke deal but no we have a player even better than Petey, ok so it would have been nice to have before that BUT no one was obviously available but no big deal, it'll happen again, when? no idea but I still believe JB can pull something off as usual, he's even getting better at it.
  4. Well given Nate couldn't be with the team for 2 weeks, getting in zero pre-season games to get some mean nothing, no pressure games to get used to new players and then get going was hardly the optimal start when the team is "almost" there
  5. hmmm every time I see your Nick I think of Carson and wonder how he will work out, but also getfocht is funny and I'd have thought you'd have added "dup' to the end of it but whatever lol
  6. Agreed.. I'd have countered and said without the tutelage of our goalie coach may never have happened and it was JB who hired said coach but whatever...
  7. Sure, the timing was all wrong in many aspects and some GM stuff is "best guess" scenario as many GM's have stated and hope for the best but also said if you make more steps forward than back, then eventually it'll work, hard to be patient when we've never won a cup BUT I'd rather have a few down years and have a team built for the long run than some good regular season team that gets nowhere because of lack of depth among other things like usual in the history of the franchise, it's been painful! At last we have a farm AND a roster that's "almost" done except for a few tweaks.. and some time to actually play with the same players for a change, wow I never would have thought I'd ever say that, usually it was sell the farm for one time, maybe 2 time shot a cup. That worked out well didn't it?
  8. For sure, Tanev undoubtedly was looking for term and we simply couldn't afford an elite dman who was injured a lot but he got term with cgy and happy for him but we needed a guy like Nate around who drives play more than Tanev who wasn't bad at it but it wasn't a down grade as some put it, different styles don't necessate it at all, we actually need more aggressive players on the roster too. And people tend to forget we've been a turnstile team that needs more playing time together as well.. side note: Talk of firing anyone in our position in a rebuild? geeez.. can we actually finish it before passing judgement FFS?
  9. I heard of that recently, I'm not an edibles guy although I helped make some magic schmores? for my cancer buddy who loved em.. also the non THC ones I tried, they were awesome! I'd go for edibles with my back injury and I'm sure it would help but I'm always busy so I don't have a lot of time to be able to do it..
  10. "we" LET him walk? ok projected outlook was 5 million-ish cap increase.. had it happened, Tyler would still be here.. we didn't let him walk as if money had nothing to do with it, if you think so you might want to re-think that a minute..
  11. well first I doubt it was "competitive" coming from him but more from Aquaman, fair enough though, rip it down but slowly, because that was the only way anyway with all the old contracts off year by year and trying to keep seats somewhat filled.. Imo it takes playing with a mentor more than just one season though especially if it's a young rookie, especially on D... I'm just happy we're building a farm team though, that's one thing this franchise has never really built as we traded away drafts for roster players.. that was painful, that's ok when you have a ton of prospects but we NEVER had that so here we are without a cup.. ugh...
  12. Seriously? Listening to the lame brained media are we? Look Tanman was/is Tinman to no fault of his own and when he goes down as usual it has always screws us.. Stretch? c'mon! middling dman in the league and hardly any potential offensive upside.. Marky? why keep someone as long term and big money only to lose him to Seattle, Demko is on the right side of 30 and only getting his feet wet so even if Seattle gets Holtby, then whatever we still have Demko who will have another good chunk of a season under his belt.. Losing Toffi was a covid frozen cap fall out and people just need to get over it.. now we wait for his replacement and I'd almost be willing to put up $ that a certain young Russian comes in and takes a 2nd line spot and our top 6 is complete for a change.. last thing, with new guys and no pre-season games for TG to try different line combinations and D pairings and no Nate, it's not really surprising that a slow start happened.. So ummm you can relax now, the sky isn't really falling...
  13. Well that's not the only thing either, for most of the franchise history it's been "sell the farm" win it all now? Well I'd love to know how that works when you have next to no depth.. and because of fan pressure for the most part, that's the road we ended up on, I don't know about you but after all the time of being a fan I was considering just dropping the nux altogether but then JB came along and I decided to stay around to see if the team was rebuilt and it was/is, no it's not there yet and people should stop thinking we're anything less than a couple of seasons away from being the team we want to see if we can shore up our D and have our bottom six performing good, hopefully Podz comes in makes our 3rd line into something really potent OR slides in with Bo on 2nd.. things just aren't as bad as people are saying... but hey this is the CDC and media driven and we know how that is..
  14. That's the thing, we don't need it anymore... and if your not aware of a certain thing, be happy to let you in on it.. for whatever reason and it's been like this for as long as I can remember, we always have to overpay people to play here and even some flat out said no way will I play in Vancouver so it's not as easy as some make it out to be to build a team here but that's finally changed now that we actually have players who other guys would love to play with but it's not been easy, believe me, I've watched since 74 and it was much worse.. at least we 1-2 years away from icing a team that will actually go somewhere and not some top regular season cream puff team that can't get anywhere near past the first/second round with only 2 exceptions. If people want that kind of team, we'll look where it got us, no cup but thankfully as it irks some people at least he had the nads to rip it down, could he have done better? maybe... ok probably but he was new too..
  15. Lots of people here have no idea how to run a hockey team either so I wouldn't get too far into that..
  16. those dumb UFA signings helped our young guys play with experienced vets and it already paid of last season and look how far we got... and we only lost to Vegas because our D hadn't been rebuilt yet..
  17. bull$&!#... no one knew a guy who would score 30 goals for the B's would fail with 2 of the best players to put on a Canucks jersey... anyone who puts that on someone other than on the shoulders of anyone but LE is a fool... and if you think anyone saw this scenario coming before it happened is lying... the media from what I saw was saying he would fit with the Sedins great so I don't know who your referring to but I'd love to know who said it..
  18. That would be stupid of Aquaman to do anyway, it's not JB's there was a cap freeze this year because of Covid, people need to give their head a shake, had the cap gone up as projected TT would still be here and second line would have pulled the slack enough to win especially in our first games this season.. people need to relax! lol
  19. Tyler should have been playing for us, thank covid (no cap increase) and Louie E not packing up and leaving for that.. we get F'd again, I swear this team is cursed or something, first the cap when it came in and now, lack of it. woot! j/k Sitting here waiting for Podz to show up and the salaries coming off next year... ZzZzZzzz (are we there yet?) oh and can we have Owen Power drafted next year pls JB?
  20. I wouldn't go that far just yet... but if he can put up 18 beans a season on 4th line and tightens up his D game with some hard core coaching I'd be ok with it but not for a lot of money and if he can move up as he goes and get injury time on the other lines then he maybe ok with that as far as last shot of putting it altogether but he might not even be here if Seattle decides he's worth a shot, who knows but I doubt they'd go after someone else instead, maybe motte or Big Mac etc... but I think it's a bit early to say a career 4th liner just yet about JV but we all can agree the hourglass is ticking for him for sure and it's running out quickly
  21. for those who count that more than anything other than a "sport" I suppose so... I just think the weirdest thing about it was seeing Tan in a jersey other than a Canuck's blue and green but whatever lol I wish him the best...
