  1. Oh since I missed the game, how did Hronek work out? As advertised?
  2. Wow before the game started I posted "7-2 we'll destroy them" and they did it!! I actually missed the game on top of it, I got busy.. Grrr! But wtg boys!
  3. Without a healthy Demko all that won't mean $h i t, we could have played great in all the games we sucked and still lost without him. But at the end of the day we need a bigger team on the ice and we need some of that bigger to be on D especially. Pretty sure that's the reason why JB went after Guddy, Train, and Myers, the same reason why Albert's was signed in a attempt to answer Buffy and anyone else. Hronek helps there, he's hardly afraid to hit or drop the gloves. Imo it was a total bad move to sell off Schenn one of our toughest D that made a pretty decent 3rd pairing especially when things get rough... That's easily forgotten during the season but becomes to the forefront and without it and depth for it, what's the use in making the post and then get ousted right away for lack of toughness/grit? Having smaller PMD's are great but need a big stay at home partner because you just know it will be open season on Hughes for sure.
  4. Hands down Hughes simply because he's a Dman, forwards are a lot easier to pick up. Speaking of that, lots of times I wonder how he would do at the wing with Petey and/or JT and not forgetting Kuz, who I think, he and Hughes would be amazing with a big fast tough center, reasonably skilled puck hound who loves to forecheck, hit hard, and steal pucks to feed either one. Wonder if we could.pull that off in a offers trade but it wouldn't come cheap.
  5. Well was a hard season without Demko and half the D out of the line-up at the beginning too which made things even harder. I'm not torn anymore about the draft, imo it's more important to see how we play in the last of the season against the top teams which is coming soon and take it from there depending on what happens. Hopefully for another reason it keeps up, our assets that we may need to trade to get where we need to be that gets a good return instead of us sucking and getting bottom dollar only. We might come out ok yet, but for sure we will get a good pick so there's that too but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a busy summer.
  6. Hmmm with 30+ goals and 15 games left this season, I'd say he's doing just fine!
  7. That's our problem too, we need to be a slightly heavier team as well. Best balance of size, skill, and speed wins it every year like clockwork.
  8. AK47 as the road runner shooting the coyote! Git er' done Kuz! P.S. the Coilers must be pi$$ed!!!
  9. He does have a point, In SOME ways, not so much in others.. Personally I think FA likes to cheap out and max profits during the reg season and even better if we do a round or 2 and that's good enough. Via underpaying rather that overpaying a elite management to do a proper job in actually building a team
  10. YES! FA, sell the team! Or at least keep your nose out of it and hire the best GM who has the balls to tell the fans to go F themselves if they don't like a re-tool or a re-build and build depth NOT sell it off to get a roster, no matter how good because injuries happen in the grind playoffs so depthless never works! EVER! VS building a elite team that has a shot every year instead of aiming for a one and done, sell the farm B.S. Make it happen Aquaman! Stop being a a$$hole so we can be that good so bettface can't rig enough against us so the (primarily the refs) won't matter.. Yeah I know, never gonna happen, the one and done crowd following the clueless Vancouver media will have none of it.. Meh.. at least the drama is entertaining if nothing else..
  11. I'm not following, Boes is now redundant and could easily be traded for a 3C + ?, if we sign a top 4 D, that's just myers being replaced no? And depth for bottom six isn't that $$$ And there's the rest of the season with Boxes, Garland, and Myers to impress and their already playing better which will make them more attractive. It's kind of the flip side to losing draft spots if the team continues to do well (silver lining sort of thing) but as long as it helps up their value to normal so we don't have to retain then that's a win and we will still get a decent pick in the first round and maybe NHL ready (ish) but unlike what the media is saying we're not in that bad of a spot actually.
  12. One can almost bet that Garland/Boeser and traded for pick/prospect and Pearson won't be back, but for sure cap will be shed and Boeser will probably be the first to go, followed by Garland, because after that, you don't want to be talking to teams from a standpoint where they know your under pressure and will try to leverage that against and we need no part of that but all we can do is hope to that both of them finish of the season going full out so we can be on the side of advantage instead of them. At any rate, as long as we end up a lot more loaded up with prospects the better the odds of some working out and have those ELC's give us breathing room but management has to go all in for depth just as much as the roster and have roster guys worried about their spots being taken so they work on consistency which is exactly what we need.
  13. Was thinking that too when I read his name and since I haven't heard what it sounds like I have no idea even how to say it lmao! Well maybe one day he'll turn into a player that you can't forget how to pronounce it from it being used on the score sheet so much, might happen, dude gets LOTS of assists like QH does, can he do it up here? Maybe but doing it in the minors is a good sign at least. Wish he was a cpl of inches taller but at 5'11 and 200, he's solid at least and looks it's from his pic. Hmmm is about all I can say, at least management is signing more D so that's a thing.
  14. Agreed, but that wins a cup.. well plus 2 things Alf, one is a fine balance of skill and toughness and WITH depth, we all know how rough the post gets right? Injuries happen to everyone, we lost 2 cups because of it, especially on D, but whatever. That's why I'm a fan of building a roster (giving up picks if necessary) for a need now and "later" if at all possible. And in the meantime, when it's over and on a run, depth is growing on the farm NOT being sold off so when injuries do hit, and you know they WILL, it doesn't leave us high and dry, just like any other team right? We're in that tweener position of being on the cusp but still needing now and later work so that was the Hronek thinking if I'm not mistaken but it makes sense. That was a bit of a win in a sense he's not small-ish, it's ok to have a Hughes or 2 BUT it has to be backed up by a big D partner but there's the balance we're after, however we still need some more and if we have to sacrifice a bit to get it as long as it's not TOO extreme, I'd be down for that! (You should how excited when I saw a BIG nasty Russian throwing Dallas stars players around like Ragdolls who wore a Canucks jersey) but we can talk about the roster all day but in that we have to discuss the possibility, to make it fair, to trade picks for a roster player that still has a lot of life left that is traded from a deep roster like JT was, at the end of the day we got that I Hronek even though we paid full price but can't get a steal everytime obviously but seems like the players we got recently are 6' and over which can't hurt either but we can stand some more skilled toughness.. hope we get it Alf.. How long have I been harping over this? Years sir, it's one thing to have a good seasonal team that's skilled with hardly any toughness compared to other bigger teams and of course we get injured and can't put up a proper fight to keep going because there's nothing in the pipeline because it got sold off.. You'd think we'd all learn it doesn't work selling the farm, 40+ years of it not working is kinda telling no? Lmao! So Alf, don't hold your breath until we toughen and depth up... Can management pull off more trades with the "now and later" scenario in mind? Idk... I hope so BUT I'm way past expecting it to happen anytime soon.
  15. The league has changed but not in the playoffs, soft highly skilled teams can do well in the reg season like we have for years but only to be sent packing when bigger teams start to get physical, then it's over. I don't think we need goons, just a bigger tougher team as a whole. Guys not afraid to stick up for each other and give as well as get.
  16. Well it's the same principle of not taking unnecessary risks (hoping) players will turn out to be something you need vs getting it now and then do it later for depth, which I believe is a much smarter thing to do especially in the place we're in. We're certainly no Tampa Bay here or any other elite team that has/had a lot of assets to play with. Just the way it is but hopefully that will end soon and we keep our drafts for depth. Everything seems to point to how well we do in the off-season to make some final moves but until then all we can do is wait... Not fun, no but that's what it's boils down to from here.
  17. That's because you have zero clue to exactly why 2 out of those 3 were picked, followed by the same with OEL but in another way, which was a change of scenery which actually worked until the team turned into exactly the $hitty team where he came from. I'll give you a hint why he picked Tyler and Erik though, has something to do with this team softer than a creampuff! Oh wait, instead of that, let's stay with the same ole soft teams that got offed from the post season in the first round after a dazzling season to get there, yeah that bit of stupidity worked didn't it?! At least 3 GM's had the balls to tell fans to go F themselves realizing it would never work BUT again, we want the same high skilled "soft" idea today as back then.. f'n genius!!!
  18. I think a lot of the problem is how much draft picks are overrated unless their in the top 3, and when was the last time we got a top 3 in a draft? after that, the possibility of a player making the NHL is a crapshoot, let alone becoming a "impact" NHL'er is even less opposed to a player whose proven they are, which for us is a necessity at the moment IF their younger but established like Hronek is. Not in this case but JT, love him or hate him was a classic example minus the younger part but the price at his cap until the new contract kicks in was another factor as we got him for bargain basement price in the meantime but hoping we could draft to get a younger version of him was and is not realistic, plus the waiting time to develop is another thing because not everyone can make the jump immediately which may or may not be a factor but still. So unless your draft picks name is McDavid or something, it's too big of a risk for us until our roster is complete and we're drafting for depth and that's not us right now. Soon? Let's frackin hope so but for now that was a decent move, no we can't always get deals and get someone for less than actual worth and have to pay full price but again, we're hardly in a position for anything else but you know how the media works, tell people b.s. long enough and they'll believe it, and yes, yet again it started there...
  19. Wait... Bull$hit coming from a hack that actually has a following of people who take time out of their lives and believe it without a 2nd thought and no fact checking or thinking about the big picture, however clickbait, viewership and drama sells so... Anyway more $hite different day! P.S. if you feed the trolls they just grow, meh..
  20. Well Dermott back in the mix will help us out, lots have forgotten about him in discussions but he's a really good Dman who has a good first pass, reads well, and seldom makes mistakes when he's on his game. The only 3rd line center we need is a big fast one, whatever his name is doesn't matter as long as he has those 3 qualities. If we don't get that, more of the same season success and dumped first round... I'm hoping that ship sailed and our GM's remember what a gruelling battle it is to win a cup, yeah we did get some size in the recent trades but we can't back off from that or back to the same ole, idk about you but a reg season soft depthless team is not on my wishlist. We've been there done that.. over and over.. when we did toughen up we lacked depth and therefore no cup then either. This is getting tiring to say the least, something has to give.
