  1. Ok so snap your fingers and get us more cap space please?! thanks in advance... Oh and by the way, we need to f'n stop with the free agent bull$&!# and start using the farm which is what Jimbo is planning... You can settle down now soldier..
  2. Sure let's pay injury prone Tanev that kind of money for that term like Calgary did, and you call Jimbo stupid? I'll get a warning for this but whatever, you sir, are an idiot...
  3. Ok so how many turn out to be anything near JT? As a complete player like him? Odds of that are very slim and still there isn't a for sure pick, your playing odds and why do that if you don't have to, JT came with experience you don't get with a pick and we need experienced guys around so we don't end up like Edmonton. And again, players have to want to come here, and for many years a good chunk wouldn't unless they were overpaid and some outright wouldn't and I don't blame them at all, I wouldn't have either, so just trading, for us, has been a lot harder to do than normal plus our traveling schedule has been horrible and that matters too, in a lesser degree but still counts, THIS is not new, a major stumbling block for most of the life of the franchise but at least now we have a core thats up and coming and players are actually wanting to play here and that's new, I get it that your pissy about it and fair enough but if you take the joke this team used to be and ask if someone would want to play here, either it's been a no or overpay, this has gone on for so many years it's pathetic.. At least we have had picks and have made good ones building the core, before now, we always sold them off for the "win it all now" club... It seldom works as the Rangers knew for a long long time, yeah it's hard to be patient but we're only a few pieces away, can we get it together soon? Sure, right away? Nope, 2 years? Probably...
  4. Couple of things, first I don't mind Stech gone as much as I liked him, Benning was starting to put stay at home D paired with an offensive side Dman.. that's a perfect scenario on each pairing.. Stech doesn't fit that, he's not built for size, nor is he a scoring D much either. We overpaid for JT Miller??? Are you crazy? We stole him, he outscored Ovie and Stamkos last season and you can't just say it was all because he was playing with Petey, JT is a workhorse and has some size and will fight if need be AND his skillset is game changing but try and pay Stamkos and OV for what we got JT for and obviously you'd get laughed at, and what would you have to trade for either one of those 2? I still look back and laugh about it when the signing was announced, media was all over it and clueless fans right there with em, if it wasn't so pathetic to see that it would have been funnier but it was head shaking time.. Do you see the twins scenario in this? Picture Petey and Brock as the twins and this is my beef with JB btw, BUT he should have traded for a JT Miller type, as in skilled but tough and fast, the closest we ever got to that was Anson Carter and he didn't have near the skill of JT, after that, the twins were wasted assets.. however we got a player that had skill but no toughness and agressiveness in LE, sadly if Burr had of been 2-3" Taller and 20-30 lbs heavier, he would have rocked the show and anyone else who rocked the Sedins, ala Marchand etc.. Now, JT Miller is THAT guy, why did people not see and realize this at the signing? No idea but that's why I laughed as hard as I did and a head shake... Like wtf?
  5. This is getting old... Really old, no GM has a crystal ball or a perfect track record, a player can be great and then move and suck, or vice versa. Most people at the time figured that a 30 goal scorer would come here and light it up BUT tanked it, do you know why he played worse here (LE) , was there any other younger bigger D available at the time? Not that i saw BUT we needed one, JB was shooting for each pairing to have a reg sized PMD with an offensive upside paired with a big stay at home, crease clearing D and if Guddy fit that, JB would have looked like a genius.. Vey lights it up in the minors and did enough to get JB to take a chance on him, again had it worked JB would have looked like a genius again. Gagner? Most people though he had lots of gas in the tank left in him and it was a chance to plug a hole that he'd seem to be a good fit since he had experience already but same thing.. I have no idea why some players come here and just suck but that's not just here, it happens to every team. But hey, being a GM is so easy right? Just warm up your crystal ball and go to it.. Seriously, this is one of the rarer times when players actually want to come here for a change. Said it before and I'll say it again, this great seasonal franchise team/useless playoff team was a place you got over paid to come because you know well it's nowhere your going to get a cup ring unless things changed. Thankfully we at least have a GM to wants to change that..
  6. 1st round picks don't always make it (25%) on average and it's not even a top 5 pick and JT was in the top 20 in scoring in the whole NHL.. they had/have a stacked team, so them winning the cup didn't surprise me. If whoever they draft turns into half the player JT is, they'll be fortunate... Now, Miller IS that player TB lost, you could draft 5 #1's and not wind up with anything close to his skills and personality (mindset) and a dash of toughness, don't just come available all that often. I kept tabs on his stats over the season nhl-wide comparison and he was right at Ovie's position and look what he's getting paid.. JB rocked that one! End of season stats were JT finishing above OV at 17th, OV at 18th with 5 less points and ahead of guess who? Stamkos...look what their paying him... Arguably, JT is one of the best players in the league for the contract $...
  7. Hi Tampa, it's Vancouver calling, look, we know we F'd you over bigtime with JT Miller but do you mind bending over again?
  8. Off topic a bit... Guess JV is getting his last shot here after ARB but he still could be trade bait but depends if he demands a NTC or a NMC, can't see JB giving that to him though...
  9. JB said in an interview that Sven will be at training camp and if he can play well enough he can stay, if not he's injury depth...
  10. Honestly, I can't see any of this happening and I think it looks like JB knows it's probably impossible to do with the cap so tight, number 2 reason is I think we might sign a FA dman or trade for one but for sure he will wait and see how it goes with OJ, Chatfield, and Rafferty after training camp and or 5-10 games into the season for a better idea of where we're at and take it from there...
  11. We just "lost" something we don't need so much anymore, once you go through a lot, and learned then it doesn't have to be repeated and Bo and TJ will be enough leadership on their own but still we have the overpaid mentors as you said but it was worth it.. every penny of it but don't forget that no one saw covid coming with a flat cap and 2 raises that would have probably happened which would have made our situation a LOT easier than it is now but even at having to overpay for most players to come here in the past isn't new but it should have worked out fine but with cv19 it sure screwed us over just like the salary cap but bc of JB, we're in a decent condition to weather the storm and yes it's a bitch waiting but we'll be ok. Plus we have the experience now of getting a taste of what it takes to take a run at a cup "together" as a complete team that wants to play better for each other and depth, might just us to the promised land but our new core has had a taste of winning and the broken identity is gone.. It was worth overpaying for that to happen, but it will pay off for years after their gone.. some just can't get their heads around that part but probably the same ones that said the TJ Miller trade was a joke... Meh..
  12. You know, thanks for showing some intelligence, some people seem to shut theirs off and then type away... As for LE, there was a huge expectation that the guy would rip it up with the twins since he did so well for the B's but there wasn't a lot to pick from at the time and as always, we had to overpay to bring someone in and this is not new, if it wasn't for the state of the team for so long being lame etc, I think JB was handcuffed with a NTC if he was to come here at all.. so after LE was in Boston and played so well that it seemed like a no brainer... Yes there's exceptions but for the most part we had a laughable team and some reallyyyyyy stupid media and fans who follow them next to blindly. Honestly if I was a player in the nhl, until now, money wouldn't have mattered, I'd have said forget it. The bottom 6 that some have been complaining about was aimed at being (on Ice) mentors especially to the young guys going forward and the playoff's this year proved it worked. 7JB was looking ahead to maturing our young guys asap so our opening window had better chances of success as we move forward, now as those contracts fall of the books, they leave behind other work they did on and off the ice. Did we need that? Hell ya! Bigtime! Do we need it today? Sort of, but it's mostly been done, and as we move forward, we'll have a team worth watching... Finally, we're around the same position we were when Gillis had us a few tweaks away the year the cap came in but some misses he did were ones no GM would have saw coming, sadly back then with LE we had to give him a NTC to play with the twins and at least make us kind of entertaining to watch until the slate was clear and it will be but at least JB didn't try to please the status quo and build a great seasonal team that wouldn't do $&!# in the playoffs and no depth.. like it's always been, yeah we had 2 shots but we lost both due to lack of depth but that's all changed and you think that would be enough but let the haters hate and laugh at them later..

  14. I'm still pissed about the flat cap and potentially losing Marky and TT over it... A raise would have helped us bigtime.. we're not screwed over it but between that and Seattle, we're losing steam that where we should have been ahead of the game since we're in the last 2 years of the build and becoming par with the cap after both Lou's are off the books but I trust JB to front load both Petey and Hughie will front load (by a year) to catch up hopefully and not break the bank when we sign them, and Demko as well This isn't going to be easy but JB has learned his craft and has been developing too even if some choose to forget that, nevertheless every other team has their own troubles so it's seemingly a waiting game now. Been thinking though, what does a regular season even look like during covid? As far as logistics of arena's and quarantine etc etc..
  15. Well be prepared for a show to be "dumbed down" alot, much like trailer park boys but even dumber (kind of atoss up though) except a hot blonde in the mix for the young male viewing audience I'd say but it was kind of funny but it's a typically American, American sitcom...
  16. I only wish... I miss the big Russian freight train... A quick read on Jurmo, our 3rd rounder is really good but makes his fair share of boneheaded mistakes and that makes me nervous. Reminds me of KB.. hopefully he can work on that, no way can you make a lot of mistakes and expect to stick in the NHL or even get in for that matter.
  17. Yeah but sending him to the minors might light a fire in him for once, doubtful but we need his spot even if we just get a better player and don't gain any cap, at least we can fill it with someone who actually wants to play and play like they mean it...
  18. I'd say yes on JV with Big Mac being signed.. and signed for a lot cheaper too... Yes please! We need every cap penny we can get..
  19. At his signing, I'd have never dreamed in a million years that he'd end up like this... I know he was brought in for the twins but the only night he was truly memorable out there was the twins last night as if he were possessed and I still don't know why he couldn't play like that a LOT more often and actually help lead the team which I thought he would coming in but... I just never thought it possible and we'd get a bit more out of the sedins with him complimenting them like he did that night all along and help mentor Bo but thank God, JB got that through other players without LE which pissed me off bigtime since we ended up with an over priced pk'r and how bad that affects our team today... If we can't get rid of him then send him to the comets.. he can be an _ _ _ hole there.. maybe even even make him ride the pine.. gloves off... Tired of his b.s.
  20. JB afraid to make big moves so he doesn't dissappoint or hurt someone's feelings? Look, ok let's say your right on that.. Since when do he have a choice under the current cap situation? Andddd now he has a legit reason to argue, to those same players that his hands are tied because of it so even if it was/is true, we can only get so far before JB's head would be on the line and if you think JB would let that happen, I'd say your mistaken.. After that, when your rebuilding and things are getting better, any "improvement" is a win! So try to tell me we're no further ahead than where we were 3-4 years ago, simply not true. Anyone can bash Gillis by the way but at least he tried balancing toughness with skill and whatever team has the best mix usually wins the cup, my only knock on JB is it took him awhile to get that when he finally commented how physical and demanding the playoff's (In a interview 3 years ago) were and then went at it a different way, which is still being worked on today but imo we're world's ahead of where we were and a better team in the history of the franchise, yeah we had a couple of runs but never had the depth to do it (as we have now) When injuries happened, our farm had pretty much nothing because fans wanted a win it all now and sell the farm and that was exactly what was the order of the day for years and years.. now the farm is about to help out situation a lot more than people seem to think, especially now... Honestly, in a team stand point, in light of the cap, it's most of the reason we might be able to keep a player or 2, where we'd usually have to let them go whereas now, ELC's for us now are worth their weight in gold especially in that respect more than ever... So in the big picture, I'm surprised we're this far... The $&!#e show this franchise has been for the most part of the last 40 yrs is gone and if JB keeps it up, and is eventually replaced by someone who isn't afraid to "build" a team as well and not give into those who want to buy it, we'll be fine. So last thing, look at the wins last season and compare them with the end of the coming up season, if it's not at least higher by at least 10-15 wins, I'll happily say I was wrong but ATM I'm willing to bet it happens but it's because of what JB has already accplished and what he'll get done before next season.. and I wouldn't be surprised if it went up again after that too.. I do not want a middling team that people rave about that wins a lot but gets it's ass booted out in the 1st round of the P/O's, if you think that's acceptable, well that's why we don't have a single cup and never will if everyone thought that way... No thanks!
  21. As much as I tend to agree, I'd rather see something coming on D for a trade but if we let Marky go for nothing (not something I'd be happy with but at this point we need D but it's a biotch not knowing what player we'll lose in the Seattle draft and even worse, what position F, D, or G.. we could sign him and hold off and make a deal that they'd they do something in return to even it out, like taking LE later or something.. you know what I mean but has to be something in return I hope besides cap space, or, trade Marky/LE to the Coyotes for OEL straight across, anything really but we have a logjam at F too so it's not like JB can't do package deals and filter some more youth into the line-up like he enevitably will do so I'm not so much worried about our situation, but this chokes me that yet another thing might set us back, first it was the cap in the first place for Gillis, who in my opinion had the team almost at the same point as we are now, as in still needing tweaks but maybe MG had it closer, hard to say but now covid and zero raise in cap which I was hoping would covered Mark's raise and keep our tandem intact... Sigh.. oh yeah, Seattle.. does it ever stop ffs? Geeez!
  22. Uh uh.. good hockey does not win cups, great hockey wins cup, want a Canucks typical example before JB came along (for the most part) since 1974 and look how many division titles we've won as a "good" regular season team? More than I want to know about when I get razzed about zero cups so you can take your good hockey and have fun with it but I'm way past tired of it.. go BIG or go home, but that's just me... But it takes time to build said "great" team and if JB keeps it up, and believe me, it'd be HARD to screw it up so im looking for to having a great team year in and year out..
  23. Well winning pedigree is a team wide mindset where everyone plays for each other, afraid to let the team down. Yes I guess other might have said that 4 years ago but no way I'd agree, compare rosters is a simple start.. plus then we had hardly any depth like we do now but a competitive drive to be the best and having elite-ish means to do so, Bo has taken over his spot, Alien is out of this world, TJ Miller scored the most points on the whole team, Hughes is rockin the show bigtime, Toffi arrived with plenty of life left, BB is still developing his game to overcome tighter checking and he's starting to do it with ease and confidence.. Demko? Wow! 4 years ago compared to now? Uh uh uhhhhhh... As long as we keep filling roster spots with guys who will do anything to win and jettison guy who don't, then we'll a shot for real, and that's already being worked on by time on its own.. LE will finally be ousted... JV probably gone... Replaced by guys who actually give a *hit can only trend us upward but most of the work already done was all offence geared (scuse the pun) and D was yet to be sorted out and that'll be a huge upgrade as it progresses and the whole team knows it will be a lot better overall because of it...
