  1. Yes, I grew up in former Yugoslavia, even in the 90's Europeans were "soft", especially during the war in Bosnia. United Nations helped with humanitarian aid delivery, and that is if they were allowed to do so. Routinely French, British, Italian peacekeepers were getting shot at and killed, very rarely they would respond. Some of them were involved in smuggling, buying valuable things very cheaply and giving money and food to poor girls and exploiting them. Europeans also supported the arms embargo, which mainly affected Muslims. Dutch battalion of peacekeepers did nothing when Srebrenica fell in 1995. They allowed thousands of people to be killed, they could have prevented it, they didn't even call in air strikes to help. As long as Europeans are acting like this they will never be respected by Americans, Russians or Islamic countries.
  2. I agree that he won't probably do it, but even a threat of doing it would make them $&!# bricks! They talk a big game in Europe but without the U.S. they would either speak German or Russian over there. We have our own problems here, I rather see my taxes help my own country. I gave up on Europe, when I left 20 plus years ago, plus I never forgot how ineffective they were during the Balkan wars.
  3. Other administrations have called on Euros to pay up, but have accomplished much. Best message to send is start pulling troops out Germany, Italy, Great Britain etc. I have a feeling that they would get that message, especially considering the state of their armed forces.
  4. At least Canadiens are getting the fact that world is changing, and power balance is shifting. Europeans on the other hand......well time will tell.
  5. Comparing to history, this is probably one of the more peaceful times. Population is exploding, life expectancy is higher, and we have not see apocalyptic events like world wars, plague, influenza etc. But you wouldn't think that by reading on Internet or watching TV, fear mongering is big business.
  6. Born and raised in Europe, my wife in Vancouver and my kids in the USA. So I guess I have interest in all 3 of those places. But I agree with you, it's not about spending more it's being able to defend yourself. Just in WW2 at least 9 of my close family members died. I grew up in a place that was very diverse and probably one of the most cosmopolitan places in Europe. Mosques, Synagogues, Ortodox and Catholic Churches right next to one another. And one day people just flipped the switch and began murdering each other. Those that were not able to defend themselves, went to camps or were killed. So ever since then, I have this opinion that every country needs to have strong military to be able to defend itself. I have been to Canada many many times and I know that lot of Canadiens believe "we are peace loving nation no one will attack us" Can't even tell you how many wonderful people got murdered, because of their ethnicity, religion, political affiliation or material possessions.
  7. Embarrassing to see poor Eastern European countries, spending more comparing to Germany, Denmark, Canada and Netherlands.
  8. Wars of the future will be fought over natural resources. Those that can't protect their territory will end up losing or "sharing" those resources.
  9. "Those that won't feed their army will feed someone else's"
  10. Should be interesting attending draft this year, pretty good ticket price as well.
  11. Sarmat is not operational yet as Russia keeps moving up deadlines. If we ever get to point where they would eventually use it, shelters won't do much good anyways.
  12. So to move up one spot Bears give up 3 picks, for a guy that has 13 starts in college. Oh man.......
  13. Everyone knows that snow removal services in Vancouver are terrible. My point is that it should be improved, how about using some of that surplus money? You counterpoint is that I would complain if taxes go up, to which I said I wouldn't. So it's either you don't care, you don't drive or you don't live in the city.
  14. Beats being complacent like you.
  15. You are talking like it snows every 5 years or so. I am ok with paying higher taxes for better public services, they waste money on stupid s....t anyways! Plus those trucks could be used for other things, have you ever seen a garbage truck with a plow attached to it?
  16. You must be joking right? Three weeks ago they had 10 trucks plowing overnight, while other 30 waited for morning to start. 10 trucks for largest city in B.C, it's laughable!
  17. I don't need salt anyways, strata covers that. As far as roads go, that is why we pay taxes.
  18. That is what happens when snow removal budget is $750 000
