Hopefully this pause is the last lengthy one this year. I guess it's apparently a money issue (?) but if it's our ownership making that decision might be shortsighted. We were on a roll, what if these back to back pauses is the difference between making the playoffs or not - that's a big financial loss

When we thought the vaccines prevented transmission I was willing to buy this; people who weren't doing there part for the better of society not being granted access to the full benefit of society (Something like that, as Stawns put) Another day of records cases & that original logic - that was a very strong argument - has proven not to be the case. That key logic for the mandate hasn't held water, so now what is it really other than people being punished? (Bearing the brunt of our frustration with the situation)
-
See and I'm on board with it for the time being. Especially being in the cold where it transmits more - hopefully save the hospitals added stress right now. But hopefully we can move away from it as we get to warmed times. And then focus on treatments. I've seen things about the Monoclonol antibodies treating cases I don't know alot about that, but if its something that could be made more readily available now for people (rather than waiting for a Pfizer pill or whatnot) that would be great.

Anyone who neglects there health. I don't mean that as a target at visually obese if that's what you are insinuating. There are plenty of people damaging themselves even with just too much alcohol consumption. (I don't mean full blown alcohols either)

This was valid, but the problem is the mandates aren't preventing spread like that logic dictated. When we thought it did, then yes for sure this is valid. But now the results show that high vaccination unfortunately isn't preventing spread. So they really aren't endangering their communities like we once thought. (Aside from the issue of hospitals, but these people are still working & going to grocery stores, so they'll likely come into contact regardless - as we are seeing with that chart someone else posted)
-
I know its an extraordinary situation right now so this applies less, but even before pandemic times having unhealthy people that don't take care of themselves is a price we pay in a free society. Many hospitals were already under stress before the pandemic, definitely need to improve infrastructure going forward.

This seems like a logistically headache stores aren't going to go through, if they even have the infrastructure for it. Well my rec hockey league is still going on. We are breathing heavy next to each other on a bench, plus its cold aswell. Atleast in the gym you could enforced masks to some degree. Its the inconsistency some are frustrated with. On the flip side there are others that have taken the vaccine & want to move towards generally less restrictions. At some point we are going to have to get there.

The cold is right now. At the beginning for sure totally understandable. But now people are double vaccinated, they are protected. Even if its limited capacity/social distanced its better than not.

Thank god.

If its essential to human life, yes. Which leads to another though. I think gyms should be expanded to essential as part of the latest restrictions. I know alot of vaccinated people (myself included) that are realy pissed off about the gyms being closed while shows, bars, & recreational sports leagues are still able to operate. Gyms should be considered essential - so important both for physical & mental health.

No but they also said they also said there wouldn't be passports, and more importantly it doesn't feel like there is an end in sight. Everything being pushed is just about the vaccine & the mandates. Why not more focus on treatment (Monoclonial anti-bodies?) and making them readily available? Hopefully we can move towards that if the signs of less deadly variants hold up.

Its nothing to do with me. Whats the next line we are going to cross here? I guess they can still go to the McDonalds drive through, but only for the good of public health - as there are record cases all over our highly vaxxed country. The problem is where are we going with this. And at what point are we living like this forever? The vaccines work at preventing serious illness. Not as much as preventing spread as we hoped with the mandates, but that's still fantastic. At some point we need to move beyond mandates, and focus on treatment + infrastructure. I think Alberta is already doing this with bars & stuff, where your allowed unvaccinated but if you do you must operate at a lower capacity - which a business likely isn't going to do obviously. Its an incentive for any store really. I guess bigger stores may not have to, but to me its still concerning in a bigger picture ethical way that this is being pushed.

I don't support them being treated as second class citizens either, now or at any other point in time. I don't support racism. This isn't taking a driver license test, we are talking about an irreversible medical procedure. At the time the mandate made sense, slow the spread, but now it turns out not to be doing that or are we going to do this forever? The government coercing people into medical procedures was always an uncomfortable thing for me, but the argument of taking one for the team to protect your neighbor was extremely strong and valid. But its turned out not to be that way as evidenced by records cases all over the country. As I said if Omicron continues to hopefully not be as severe, I'd like to see us move away from continual mandates & focus on treatment both for short term covid & long haul, which has seemed to have gotten much less attention unfortunately.

They've made it possible for grocery stores to do this, with an incentive to do so, that being their limited in occupancy if they choose to allow unvaxxed (a limit on costumers = less money). Whether this comes to full fruition or not, the fact this is even being toyed with is a red flag IMO. https://eturbonews.com/3010904/no-jab-no-food-new-brunswick-grocery-stores-can-now-ban-unvaccinated-shoppers/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/pandemic-rules-civil-liberties-association-1.6284670

I reject this. Your taking your bad experiences & plastering them on to me, then proceeding to smear me as a representation of all these things for which I don't support nor had anything to do with & its completely unfair. Nevermind way off where the topic is. I'm not a bigot, I'm not against anyone based on immutable characteristic, I'm not even against the vaccine (its worked very well to prevent serious illness). We are all humans - that's my view. I'm sorry for your experiences but these are nothing I've participated in & nothing I support. This is just a bull$&!# attack on me. If all this going to be is an attack on your perception of my character then I'm not interested in talking with you.

Again, banning people from grocery stores.. we've lost our damn minds.
